Red Hot Swaps

Today's cards are the swaps I made for our Red Hot Swap.  We needed to use something from the Spring Catalog or Sale-a-bration.  I decided to use the oval framelits and the the creped filter paper.  I was going to make purple flowers and use whisper white card stock, but didn't have enough whisper white card stock left.  How could I get so low on whisper white!  I don't know, but I did.  I'm good to go again though. :)  I'll share the goodies I received in return in a few days.  I'm hoping to get my last few soon.  I love what I've received so far!!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

To My Valentines...

These are the cards I came up with for my family this year for Valentine's Day. :)  I sure have a hard time making them for guys though!  I love all the sparkle, blitz and bling...which is not a guy kind of thing! The last card has a pretty low-key heart on it.  Didn't want to make it too mushy! lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Delightful Dahlia - with instructions

Well, today's card is kind of a request.  I made a dahlia earlier this year and never posted pics or instructions on how to make it.  I was asked how I made it and thought it would be easier to make up another flower and take pics of each of the steps instead of trying to write every small detail.  Now if I loved to write it wouldn't be a problem, but making another flower is definitely a lot more fun for me! :)  After making the flower I looked through sketch challenges I follow and decided to use the Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge to put my flower on. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stamp Set:  Curly Cute
Card Stock:  Perfect Plum & Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pad:  Perfect Plum
Punches:  Blossom Petals Builder, 1 3/8" Circle & 3/4" Circle
Embossing Folder:  Delicate Designs
Bigz Die:  Daisies Flower # 2 - smallest one (retired)
Jewels:  Basic Pearls
Shimmer Paint:  Champagne Mist
Sponges

INSTRUCTIONS BELOW

Using the Blossom Petal Builder punch, punch out 16 of the large leaves and 8-10 of the small leaves.

Sponge around the edges of all the "petal" pieces.

After I had them all sponged I spritzed them with shimmer paint to add a bit of sparkle and to brighten and blend the ink that I sponged on each of the pieces.

Now use a dowel, ink pen or paintbrush...whatever you have...and curve each piece.  I used a smaller smooth paintbrush to curve the smaller pieces.

Punch a 3/4" circle out of scrap paper, then a 1 3/8" circle over the smaller one so you have a piece of paper that looks like this...

Now using glue dots evenly position eight of the large leaves on the circle like shown.

Add the other eight pieces in between the first layer you did.

Now add the small pieces on.  Your flower should look like this at this point. :)  You're getting pretty close to being done...hang in there!

Cut out two of the smallest daisy pieces using the Daisies Flower # 2 Biz Die.  If you don't have that any type of daisy should do.  I put a ruler there so you could actually tell how big (or small) they are.

Not sure if you can see in this pic or not, but I sponged the edges of the daisy pieces (front and back).

Next glue one on top of the other, then spritz with shimmer paint if you did it to all the petals.

Now fold them in half like shown in the picture.

Starting with one end start to roll it together.

It should look something like this when you're done.

Now insert it into the middle of the flower.  You might need to separate the pieces in the middle so there's room to push it in.

The last thing I did was turn it upside down and put a bunch of glue (tombow multi-liquid) and let it dry for a good six hours or so.

Now all you have left to do is attach it to a card, box or whatever else you have in mind. :)

RHSSC - Blooming with Kindness

It's Sunday again, so that means it's time to post another card for the Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge.  I don't think I use a lot of black and pink together, so I thought I'd give it a try this week. :)  Don't forget to head over to the Red Hot Stampers' blog to check out the other cards made using this sketch.  If you're up to it why not give our sketch a try...

Double Blooming with Kindness

Today's cards are a couple more that we made at my January stamp a stack.  I wanted to use a couple of small things from Sale-a-bration so I used the buttons and ribbons from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack.  I also gave them the choice between the two different colors...not a good idea unless you have two stamp sets and separate baskets otherwise you're going to spend a lot of time cleaning stamps! lol

I'm not a big fan of orange and blue together, but some people love the colors together so I thought I'd take a pic of them together. :)

RHSSC - Elements of Style

It's time for another Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge card, and since it's been so snowy in our area I though I'd do something with flowers to remind me that spring is coming.  I must say though I do love snow!  Why I love it when I hate being cold confuses even me! lol   This is a pretty clean and simple card, but I can't take credit for the "Two-tone Tearing" idea.  I saw it over on France's blog here and had to give it a try myself.  So simple to do and I love the idea.  Don't forget that this is the last week of January's blog candy give away for those that make a card using our sketch.  Head on over to the Red Hot Stampers blog here to check out the other cards made with this week's design and see what you can win if you play!

RHSSC - Snowflake Soiree

Welcome to another card for the Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge.  This week's sketch was another simple one. :)  Since we're supposed to be getting snow this coming week I thought I'd make another card with snowflakes.  Since I haven't used Marina Mist in quite a while I thought it was time to pull it out again.  Yup, a perfect color to go with snowflakes.
Remember that we are giving out blog candy for those that participate in this month's Red Hot challenge.  Head over to the Red Hots' blog here to see what we're giving away and to see what everyone else made with this week's sketch.

Love You!

Well, I must confess it's been a while since I posted on my blog.  I haven't given up stamping, just busy making projects I can't show until the beginning in February!

So today's card was nice and simple for me to do.  Rachel gave us a break after last week's challenge...whew! ;)  Since Valentine's is the next "holiday" I thought I'd do something with a few hearts.

Just a reminder that we are giving away BLOG CANDY over at the Red Hot Stampers!  Everyone who participates in the sketch challenges for January will be entered into a drawing. On February 1st the winner of the January Blog Candy will be announced. What is the blog candy? Why a FREE Double “D” Bow Maker of course! (sorry but only US participants)

Need for Speed!

I don't know about anyone else, but cards for teenage guys always seem to be my biggest challenge.  This is what I ended up making for my cousin's teenage son for his birthday this year.  I definitely went searching for some ideas for this set and ended up liking this card here made my Narelle H.  I really liked the layered squares with portions of the car in it, so my idea went from there...

Happy Birthday to my Niece!

Today I want to show you a cute little card and purse I gave my niece for her b-day.  It's been a tradition with both of my nieces for a few years now to make them purses for their birthdays.  I also tucked a $1 bill (yup, still cheap) and a pack of gum in it with the card.  We gave it to her at church yesterday and she came and told me after church that she got it.  Just thought it was so cute when she came up to me with a big smile and told me. :)

RHSSC #70 - Flowers!

Wow, the first challenge for 2013 and it was definitely the hardest Red Hot sketch challenge for me yet!  Looking at the other ladies' cards you'd think it was no problem for them at all!  Glad I sat down earlier in the week to make this one up instead of waiting until the last day!  This is definitely not the norm for my type of cards, but it think it turned out pretty cute.  However my son's reaction was, "I don't get it!" lol  My daughter thought it was pretty cute.  Well, I wanted to try out something new from the Spring Catalog...making flowers using the Creped Filter Paper.  I used one piece of the creped filter paper over regular card stock on the little flowers and did three sets of that for the big flower using the 2012-2013 In Colors.  Oh, don't forget to check out the other cards using this sketch at the Red Hot Stampers' blog here!

Love looking at the card from this angle...weird, I know.  But I think it looks so cool! lol

Just a pic a little closer to see the detail on the flowers and brads.  I dabbed the brads in ink then in clear embossing powder and used the heat gun so they kind of matched the color of flower they went with.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Pleasant Poppies

Happy New Year!  Wow, it's 2013 already!  Last year certainly seemed to fly by.  Guess time flies when you're having fun, right?  And I sure think making cards is fun...well, most of the time I do. :)  Today's card shows a few goodies from the Spring Catalog.  I've had them for about a week and had an idea going through my head, but I needed to do some real work before I could play. lol  I wanted to use the new embossing folder, framelits and ribbon.  Plus I haven't used my Pleasant Poppies set yet and thought this would be the perfect time to dig it out.  Definitely a spring card, but I needed a few flowers to come out for a while since it's the only place I'll see them for a few months.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
