Serene Silhouettes - Down Memory Lane

The first time I saw the stamp set Serene Silhouettes in the catalog I knew I'd be making plenty of cards using it and that's exactly what happened.  Since it's one of the sets on the retiring list I thought I'd look at all the cards I created using this set.  Some I really like and others (I have to admit) I don't know what I was thinking?! lol  Anyway I hope you'll take a trip down memory lane with me for a little bit...  If you don't have this set yet and would like to purchase it before it's gone click on one of the links below...

Some of the cards I created that I threw into a collage.  To see the rest keep on scrolling. :)

All the cards are in no particular order.  If you have any favorites I'd love to hear what you like!  As I was looking through them I kept thinking, "Oh, that's my favorite one!" then another would pop up and I'd think the same thing.  I will post my favorite one for you last because I do have a favorite even though there are a lot of close seconds, and I posted those randomly throughout. :)

This was a close second.

This is one of the first cards I created with the set.

This is one of my close seconds. :)

Yes, this is my favorite card. :)  Did you have a favorite?

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Serene Silhouettes in the Night Sky

I made today's card just because.  That's right!  Just because I saw a picture that inspired me.  I loved the stars in the sky and the colors blended together in the picture along with the silhouette of one main tree and some bushes so that's what I tried to recreate with this card.  I have no idea what I'll use it for yet.  Guess I'll just have to wait for the right occasion to come along.

I started by flicking liquid frisket on a piece of white card stock and waited for it to dry.  Ha ha...I definitely did NOT wait...I used the low setting on my heat gun and dried it very fast!  Then I used my brayer to add the colors of the sky.  I started with Crushed Curry on the bottom and brought it about half way up.  Then from the top I brayered Watermelon Wonder, Real Red, Blackberry Bliss and finally Elegant Eggplant making sure to not go down as far as the last color so none of the colors were covered up.  Then I stamped the tree and "bushes" (really the top of the tree) using the Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad.  This is the first time I used this ink pad other than at convention in July and I have to say I was impressed!!  It went on dark and evenly and that's exactly what I was looking for. The last bit of color was at the bottom that needed to be filled in nice and dark.  I used a sponge and started to rub it back and forth (same ink as the tree and bushes).  I found that it went on better when I just dabbed it with the sponge repeatedly.

The very last thing I did before layering it and putting it on the card base was to rub off all of the frisket.  I had to make sure my ink was dry.  If it's not it will smear into all the nice white stars. :(  I usually use the edge of my sleeve since my fingers are oily and that smears it too (granted I usually have an old sweatshirt on when I'm doing this!).  I just carefully rub it off, then lightly run my fingers over it to see if I missed any spots.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Serene World of Dreams

Just a quick post today to show you something I created WAY back in September for my stamp a stacks.  Actually my daughter helped me with this one.  I had created something similar to this, but it just didn't look quite right.  Well she grabbed some card stock that I had cut up and was sitting on my craft table.  She started layering what I had stamped and here you have it.  Did I mention she hates stamping! lol  She's actually pretty creative but hates doing crafts.  Funny thing is she loves to shop and I hate it! Now if only we could both like the same thing. lol

Just a couple more pics of the front of the card and the inside also.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Strawberry Slush Serene Silhouettes

It's Tuesday so that means it's time for another sketch challenge from Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  Another great sketch over on their blog.  There is a theme which I totally forgot to do even after I wrote it down!  I had an idea pop into my mind and totally forgot about the colors...yellow, orange and brown.  That's ok because the theme is optional, but I do like to try and play along with it usually.

This card wasn't too hard to make...just mostly sponging.  I wanted to start in one corner and have that one be the darkest and move my way to the opposite corner and have that be the lightest, but still try to have a dividing line from dark to light horizontally across the card.  When I sponged I put my smaller piece of whisper white card stock on my larger piece of whisper white with just enough tape to make it stick so I could take it off later.  I did the same with a circle piece of scrap paper using my 1 3/8" circle punch so I could have a white moon after I was done sponging.  After all my sponging was done I stamped my image on the small piece of card stock (make sure you've taken it off your larger piece), layered it on basic black, then lined up the moon when I placed it on the larger piece of cardstock since part of the image was on my smaller piece and some on the larger piece.  I colored my pearls with the darkest smoky slate blendabilites marker since I don't have any black candy dots left (but still plenty of other colors left!).

Make sure you hop over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE to see the other great cards created using this sketch and to play along too.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
