Watercolor Flowers and Very Versailles Sentiment ~ A Stampin' Up! Card

Back in March I posted a card that had some watercolor flowers on it that were painted instead of stamped. I was asked how I made them and thought I'd share another card with the same flowers using Stampin' Up! Stampin' Write Markers to paint with instead of DiVinci watercolors (no, I did not know what I had used on the previous card since I painted the flowers sometime last year. When I started experimenting the other day I found out rather quickly it was not SU! ink!).

Gold and Silver Autumn Days ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I have another card to share with you using the stamp set Autumn Days again.  I wasn't planning on making this card, but the first card I posted using this set had some extra leaves that ended up getting spritzed with some of the Journey Gold and Silver Splashes on accident.  I figured why waste the leaves.  Let's see what I can come up with!

I ended up stamping a few more leaves after spritzing the rest of my card stock with gold and silver, cut the leaves out with the matching dies and started assembling it on a separate piece of Buttercream Card Stock that I had VERY lightly spritzed with more Journey Gold and Silver Splash.  I added the Journey Natural Thread in the background for a little extra embellishment on the card attaching them with glue dots and attached the whole thing to a Buttercream card base.

This card was probably the hardest for the ladies at my stamp a stack, but no one said it was too hard to make at all. :)  I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Lovely as a Tree in Watercolor

Today's post is just about me playing around with a bit of water coloring.  I haven't used the set Lovely as a Tree much lately and thought I would try a scene with it.  It's not very colorful, but it's pretty clean and simple.

I was really trying to work on my trees' shadows and the sun and sky.  The sun is not bright at all and that's what I was going for.  The shadows also aren't very dark, but I kind of like the look of that.  The middle tree's shadow didn't turn out at all so that's where I stuck my sentiment. :)

Since I thought it was a little boring and too light when I made it I added the candy dots for just a little extra something.  At first I was just going to dump it, but thought I'd sleep on it first and try to  make something out of the next day.  I'm glad I did because it's really growing on me. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Thinking of You

Today I have another card practicing a bit of watercoloring to go with this week's sketch over at Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday.  It's a very CAS sketch and I love that about it.

A lot of times I'll have a stamp set pop into my mind when I'm thinking about what to do, but this time I looked through my stamps instead and Vivid Vases seemed to pop out at me.

This is the sketch I followed.  Make sure you check out what the other designers created HERE.  Lots of different cards with one idea.  Love that!  If you get a chance show us what you've created using this sketch.  We'd love to check it out!

Water Colored Vintage Leaves

Today's card is inspired by the colors over at the Color Throwdown challenge #362.  As soon as I saw the rich earthy colors I new I need to make some sort of card using them.  Since my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's anniversary is coming up I though I'd make an anniversary card using them...and I just had to pull out the 2014-2016 In Colors from Stampin' Up!  I love this group of colors!

I created the leaves by stamping the images on watercolor paper using VersaMark and embossing them in gold.  Then I used my Leaflets Framelits to to cut them out.  Once I had them cut out I worked on one leaf at a time.  I wet the whole leaf using an aquapainter, then started adding color from my ink pad lits onto the leaf.  I used Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow on the smallest leaf, Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey on the oak leaf, and Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey on the maple leaf.  I know some of the colors on the leaves are not nearly as dark as the ink pads.  That's because I played around with them a little bit by adding water if I thought the color was too dark and also by mixing the colors together.  I never would have thought I'd get the red I did on the maple leaf, but taking the time to play around with the colors and mixing them can really be worth the effort! :)  The background of the card is watercolor paper also and I did a basic watercolor wash on it using Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow again.  I also used a stamp from the set Gorgeous Grunge on the background piece.  I stamped it with Mossy Meadow, but made sure I stamped off the watercolor paper onto scrap paper two times, then spritzed it with some water before I stamped it onto the watercolor paper.  I added a touch of lined thread here and there and the Happy Anniversary to finish it off.

I also stamped leaves on the inside that were light enough to write over.  Yup I totally forgot to take a picture before I wrote all over it. lol  That's ok since I usually put that off until the last thing.  I just do NOT have a way with words, especially in cards so if I have something on my mind I write it before I forget it! lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Thinking of You with Flowers

Today's card is inspired by Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge #238.  As you can see below it has a big prize ribbon on it and the optional theme is "Hooray!".  I wasn't sure what to do with that so I decided to change things up just a little and create (I think) a lovely thinking of you card.  I guess my hooray is that I was able to come up with a card to go with the sketch at all! lol  Actually I enjoyed the challenge of figuring out something that wasn't a ribbon, but still went with this week's sketch.

Be sure to head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday's blog HERE to check out what the rest of the team did.  I was definitely wondering what each of them would come up with since I had NO clue what I was going to do at first.  If you get a chance to play we'd love to see what you create!

Thinking of You...

Here is another card I made over the weekend while I was away.  The colors for this challenge were inspired by the Color Throwdown challenge #339, but I wasn't able to get it posted in time. :(  I didn't think I'd like the colors very much on the flowers, but decided to give it a try.  I have to admit I like how they turned out. :)  My daughter sure didn't though, so I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all. lol  I used the sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge #210.  I loved the line of flowers they had on their sketch and after pulling out a few different stamp sets decided flowers were the thing to do.  I thought about butterflies and hats, but really wanted to try the black and yellow together so flowers it was.

I seem to be in the habit of putting three pics up lately.  I like to see it turned to each side and straight on.  I hope no one minds. :)

Blue Beauty with Indescribable Gift

I had a chance to go away last weekend and make cards to my heart's content. :)  I decided to work on a few challenges while I was there and came up with this card for the Paper Craft Crew challenge #141.  I love doing triple time stamping whenever I see sketches like this so I had to give it a try again.  Of course this isn't really triple time stamping, but it sounds better than double time stamping so I went with it! lol

I stamped the flowers on watercolor paper using black StazOn ink and colored it in with an aqua painter using Stampin' Up! ink pads or reinkers when I wanted colors a little darker.

Just a couple more pics to look at. :)

Too Kind Tuesday

Today's card is inspired by Try Stampin' on Tuesday's sketch challenge #210.  Another fun sketch to work with!  I needed another card for this month's stamp a stacks and wanted to use a set that's been out for a while, but hasn't had much love lately.  I pulled out the set Too Kind and went to work with it.  I think I posted yesterday that I wanted my cards to be pretty simple this month.  What I didn't post is that I wanted them to be simple for the ladies to make, not look to simple (if that makes any sense) and be quick for me to prep!  I think I managed to do all three for the stamp a stack I'm doing tonight.  It's for a new group of ladies except the one that's hostessing and I'm pretty excited! :)

Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE.  Lots of talented ladies making cards to go along with this sketch.  It's always so fun to see completely different ideas made from the same sketch.  We's love to have you play along too, so if you get a chance head to your craft area and show us what you've got! :)

Just a couple more pics of the card at different angles.  It's hard to tell in any of these pics, but I did spritz my card with smooch spritz to make it shimmer. :)  And of course I added a touch of stamping on the inside too.  I think you can see a bit of the other side on the inside in the first pic up top.

Bloom with Hope

Today's card is made using the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  It's a fun one!  I have to admit I tried doing it with circles, but nothing seemed to turn out the way I wanted it to so I went back to using flowers on my card instead.  Yup, trusty flowers for me.  They seem to do the trick most of the time. :)   They were a bit bigger than the circles too, so I flipped my card so they would fit on it.

Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE and play along when you get the chance.  It's a pretty quick and simple card if you don't do fussy cutting like I did! lol

I used watercolor paper for my flower and used blendabilites to color them in.  I love how they bleed when I use watercolor paper.

A Friday Sunset

Last Friday when I was heading home from work the sky was an amazing mix of colors!  I wanted to sit down to try and recreate it, but this card just doesn't do it justice!  There was a ball of fire on the horizon (the sun had just gone down and the colors were still shooting up from it) and there was a pink stripe of light shooting up above it high into the sky.  Then on each side of this the sky was purple.  It also had horizontal stripes of pink throughout the sky.  I don't like how they turned out on my card though. :(  Well they're actually not too bad on the card, but they turned out really dark in the pic and that's what I don't like.  Anyway thought I'd share the beauty I saw in creation that evening.

I'm also entering this in the Sunday Stamps sketch challenge.  I needed a sketch that was wide open to do this on and it was perfect!  I guess it's a pretty dark card, but it was also pretty dark when I saw the sky. :)

Just a couple more pics. :)

World of Dreams ~ Thinking of You

Wow, what a sketch we have for you over at Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  I wasn't sure what to do at first, but I obviously had browns on my mind. lol  As you can see I decided to stamp the same image three times getting darker as it moved along.  I thought it was the perfect thinking of you card.

Make sure you check out the other fabulous cards using this sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE and to play along if you get a chance.  We'd love to see what you create!

Simply Winter

Today's card won't be new to a few ladies since it was one of my December stamp a stack cards.  When I make my cards for December I want a card that they can send out for Christmas or for another occasion.  I made two of these cards and one was for Christmas and the other one a Thinking of You card.  It could be a birthday or just for you card too. :)  Well that's what today's mashup from Heidi at the Friday Mashup is all about...

Create a project with a "Winter theme".

Create a project  with "Snowflakes".

or Mash it Up! and create a "Winter project with Snowflakes".

In this pic I'm trying to show you that the top layer of the card is actually popped up to give the card some dimension.  Guess it's kind of hard to see even in this picture.

Here are both cards that I made.  Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup HERE to check out the other great winter cards from the design team and make sure you take the time to play along too! :)

Springtime Hello for Try Stampin' on Tuesday

Hey, Everyone...I have another card to show you which I think is not my norm, but I really like how it turned out.  Maybe that means it is my norm...I don't know. lol  Anyway we have another sketch challenge for you this week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  It's another great sketch to work with too. :)  I used the stamp set Springtime Hello (finally!) because the twist was Bugs and Blossoms.  I totally forgot to put the bees on my card, but I wasn't about to add them after I had already taken my pics and picked one out.  Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE to check out what all the other ladies made and to play along too if you have time.

Oh, I forgot to mention my colors are from the colourQ challenge.  I really like this color combo together and looking at the designers' cards makes me like it even more.  However I totally forgot to enter my card in their challenge and didn't post my blog on time this morning either!  Wow, I really slipped on that.  I guess my bed was calling a little too loudly! lol

Serene Silhouettes

It's Tuesday so that means it's time for a card for this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge.  The twist to go along with this week's sketch is a cameo appearance.  Since I don't have any stamps that are cameos I went with a silhouette stamp from Serene Silhouettes.  This is a pretty quick and simple card to make and could be for a few different occasions.  Make sure you check out all the cards the other designers made HERE, and if you get a chance play along with us.
