A Very Merry Christmas...

It's time for another sketch from Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday and it also has a Christmas theme...Christmas colors/Peace on Earth.  I LOVE this sketch and was excited to put a poinsettia on it using the set Reason for the Season.  I am bit disappointed because I can NOT get pictures of the card to look like it actually looks.  It's water colored and looks fine in person, but it kind of looks like a blob in the picture.  Oh well...I'm not changing it! :)

Make sure you check out all the other great cards created by the design team HERE.  I hope you get a chance to play along too!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Thinking of You with Flowers

Today's card is inspired by Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge #238.  As you can see below it has a big prize ribbon on it and the optional theme is "Hooray!".  I wasn't sure what to do with that so I decided to change things up just a little and create (I think) a lovely thinking of you card.  I guess my hooray is that I was able to come up with a card to go with the sketch at all! lol  Actually I enjoyed the challenge of figuring out something that wasn't a ribbon, but still went with this week's sketch.

Be sure to head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday's blog HERE to check out what the rest of the team did.  I was definitely wondering what each of them would come up with since I had NO clue what I was going to do at first.  If you get a chance to play we'd love to see what you create!

Your Kindness...

It's been a while since I've posted so I figured I'd better get another card up!  I don't know what's up with me this week, but I've been very lax in my stamping!  I think I just need a break every once in a while and will be ready soon enough. :)  This is one of the cards I had the ladies make at last month's stamp a stack.  It was fun to see how each one turned out a little differently because of the way they put the swirls on.

I think this card was the hardest of the bunch, but only because they needed to remember what colors to use on which stamp and when to stamp off so the color wasn't too dark on the flowers.  They all really liked the card though. :)

Yup another picture.  I like seeing more than one pic of a card so I throw in a few myself.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Rich Razzleberry Apothecary Art

Oops...not getting this posted as soon as I usually do!  Today's card is for this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge and the twist is Girlfriends.  I can't really say I did the twist unless you count a birthday card sent to a girlfriend...nope, probably not.  For today's card I pulled out a set I haven't using in quite a while...Apothecary Art.  I've always loved this set and am glad it didn't retire. :)  I used some sponges around the edge and Blendablilites to color them in.  I love them!  So easy to use and no water running anywhere or paper falling apart from too much "coloring".

Remember to head on over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE to see what other great cards are made using this sketch and play along if you get a chance.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Triangles and Hexagons...Oh My!

It's Friday and that means it's time for another Friday Mashup challenge.  As you can see by the title of my post it has to do with triangles and hexagons...

Create a project with "hexagons".
Create a project with "triangles".
or create a project with "hexagons" & "triangles".

I have to say this was a hard one for me.  The only thing I have with hexagons is the embossing folder, and to combine that with triangles?  I tried a few things and did NOT like them at all! lol  So I decided to brayer a scene on a square and cut that square into four triangles and layer it on top of the hexagon embossing folder.  Whew...I made it! lol  I actually love how it turned out. :)  Now you have to check out how crafty the other designers were too, then play along yourself HERE.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Pretty Petite Petals

It's Tuesday, so that means it's time for another sketch challenge from Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  It's a great sketch this week and the twist is "well worn".  Don't forget to check out what the other designers made this week HERE.  It's my in-law's anniversary later this week so I thought this would be a great sketch for an anniversary card.

While working on this card I was hoping to stamp the piece under the flowers directly on the card stock so I wouldn't have to cut the shape out.  I'll do fussy cutting, but would rather skip it if I can! lol  As you can see I ended up cutting it out, but I also managed to get the "words" from the embossing folder onto the stamped image.  How did I do it?  It was actually on accident!

I embossed a scrap piece of paper to see if I could actually stamp over the embossed words.  As you can see in the pic below it didn't work out too well.  Only the cursive embossed letters got ink on them.  However when I turned my stamp over and looked at it this is what I saw.  I thought to myself, "Hmm...cool!  Let's see what it looks like after I stamp it again."  So I huffed on the stamp to get it damp again and stamped it...

and this is the image I got. :)  I thought it was pretty cool and thought I'd share it with anyone who reads my blog.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Spiral Rose

It's time for another Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch.  This week I finally sat down and used the new Spiral Flower Originals Die.  I thought it was the perfect fit for the circle.  I ended up spritzing it with smooch spritz mixed with rubbing alcohol so I could scrunch it up really well to give it the wrinkled look.  I like how it turned out. :)  Don't forget to check out what the other designers made this week using the same sketch HERE.

Creative Crew Creations for November

Welcome to November!  It's hard to believe it's already here.  Where has the year gone?!  Just to warn you my first post for this month is a long one since I'm going to combine all of my Creative Crew projects into one post instead of doing four this month.  I tried to keep my projects and little more simple this time.  I like to go all out and need to learn to do simple but elegant.  So let's start from the beginning...

Oh November, the time of sweaters & blue jeans, cocoa & fires, and just about every kind of yummy food you could ever be thankful for! This month we're going to take ourselves a trip down memory lane and remember what we have to be thankful for.
The first challenge...DSP/Color Focus: Since we're starting Sweater Weather why don't we take our trip down that road first. Show us Chocolate chip, Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand, Soft Sky, Tangerine Tango all getting happy together.

Since we've had our leaves on the trees for so long here in Michigan I figured I'd use the Lovely as a Tree set using the colors from the first challenge.

I like to stamp the image on the inside after I've stamped the first time.  It leaves the same image just a lot lighter so you can write over it.

The second challenge...Creative Focus: KITS! We have a mountain of kits to choose from, they make a class or a workshop easy peasy! The next part of our trip takes us into packaging territory, show us something with the Pretty Packages line on pages 158 & 159 of the main catty or any of the kits or packages in the mini catty, tell us why you choose what you did.

The reason I chose this kit is because you can make so many cute things using the bags and tags and add anything you want to it to match what you're using from the kit.  Plus I have an open house coming and I'm trying to figure out ideas for some of the make and takes. :)

Just a close up. :)

The third challenge...Holiday focus: Did you know that November 26th is national cake day? Trip number three is to be inspired by the cake pictures and show us what creation one of these cakes led you to, please see the attached ideas.

I usually like color, but I love black and white cards as well.  Since it's November and a month to be thankful I thought it would be nice to make a thank you card that's clean and simple.

I had to make a matching envelope too. :)

The fourth and last project...Scrapbook focus: The last leg of our journey is to take that walk down memory lane and share a favorite childhood memory, event, toy, or treat on scrapbook page, mixed media project or with This & That!

Well, a scraper, scrapbooker (not sure what you call it!) I am NOT!  But I didn't want to do a mixed media this time, and I don't have a This and That journal so a scrapbook page it is.  I decided to make a quick page of when we brought our kids to Disney World with my brother's family in 1998 and for our fifteenth anniversary in 2005.  I made quite a few visits there while growing up, and it's also where we went on our honeymoon.  Love that place! :)  I think it's time to go back!! :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Everything Eleanor?!

Another one of my October creations for the Creative Crew on Splitcoast Stampers.  The challenge for this gift card holder is Holiday focus: Wear Something Gaudy Day is on 10/17. Use your gaudiest colors to create a gift card holder.  The outside kind of looks ok, but the inside and back of the gift card holder are definitely gaudy.  I made sure of it!

RHSSC - Everything Eleanor

It's Sunday so that means it's time for another Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge.  I had an idea going through my mind for this sketch after being inspired at our Red Hot meeting on Thursday.  One of the ladies showed a bunch of crafts she's been working on and some of them had paper flowers on them.  It's been a while since I've made some paper flowers, so I thought it would be a good time to give another one a try. :)
Don't forget to check out what the other Red Hot Stampers made HERE.

Happy Birthday to my Mom

The other day my dad asked me to make a card for my mom for her birthday (from him, of course) and I said sure. :)  So I got busy looking at some sketch challenges.  I saw the one from this week's Hand Stamped Sentiments and had an idea pop in my mind right away.  This is what I came up with.  Can you tell what her favorite color is?  :)

Of course I needed to make her a card from me and my family so I got to work again and ended up using the same sketch challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments and the SUO (Stampin' Up! Only) challenge.  This week's challenge is to use one of your favorite retiring sets on your card.  I have a couple of favorites and Elements of Style is one of them.  So so sad to see this one go. :(

Open House Thank Yous

Although I haven't posted much on my blog lately I've been keeping busy.  I had my daughter's open house to plan and get ready for last week.  Now that it's over and done with (yeah!) I had to make the thank yous for it.  Since her colors were blue and white I made the cards those colors to stick with the theme.  I was sick of working on the cards so I grabbed the stack I had done and quickly took a couple of pics.

Everything Eleanor

Well, I'm having a hard time coming up with this month's stamp a stack cards, so I'm turning to some challenges to help me out.  The first one to help me out is The Paper Players.  They have a color challenge this week, and it sure is nice to let someone else pick the colors!  I found the colors a bit challenging...I wasn't sure where to throw in the Lucky Limeage, but I'm happy with what I came up with. :)  Not so sure I'm going to be happy when it's time to do my prep work, and I have all that fussy cutting to do though! lol

Snowflake Soiree Christmas

Well I've been taking a break from blogging this Christmas season, but that doesn't mean I wasn't still busy working on things.  This is one of the cards I made when my dad came to me a week or so before Christmas and asked if I would make a card for my mom, and I said I'd be glad to.  I actually didn't procrastinate too much on this one either...amazing!  Since her favorite color is blue I decided to use a few different colors of blue and blend (sponge) them together using the emboss resist technique.  I've already done a couple of cards with this technique lately, but really liked a card my stamping friend Christi made and wanted to add some "swirls" in with a darker blue like she did.  I love how it turned out!

I'm also entering it into the Friday Mashup challenge #90.  This week's theme is "Snowflakes" and/or colors Whisper White, Pool Party, Midnight Muse and Basic Black.  Super close on the colors for making the card over a week ago!

RHSSC 63 - Thank You

Last night as I was getting this post ready I noticed I now have fifty followers...yea!!  Thanks to each of you who are following me on my card making adventures.  I hope you're inspired by what I create or just enjoy relaxing and looking at my cards (as well as other blogs that you follow).  Even though I don't reply to posts that many of you have written (unless you have questions!) I want you to know I read every single one and appreciate your kind words that are passed my way. :)  And now on to today's card...and since it's Sunday that means it's time for another Red Hot Stampers' challenge.  This is my take on it...pretty simple this week, but I still like how it turned out. :)  Head on over to the Red Hot Stampers' blog here to check out a few more ideas using this sketch challenge.

RHSSC61

It's Sunday and time for another Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge.  This week I used the set Everything Eleanor and used colors from the color challenge blog Color Me Beautiful.  I wanted the card to be simple, yet elegant.  I just wish I could have caught the shimmer on the card, but it just wasn't cooperating this time! lol  Check out the other cards at The Red Hot Stampers here.
