Evergreen in Pink

Today I have a fun Christmas card for you that I hope you'll enjoy.  I used Pool Party and Pink Pirouette to create a soft winter scene on this week's card for 'Tis the Season's inspiration challenge.  The first cards I made up just did NOT work.  I pulled the ornaments I made off the cards and used another stamp set to create baby cards.  They turned out really cute, but I forgot to take pics of them.  Maybe I'll post them next week sometime after I get home from this year's Stampin' Up! convention. :)

To create this card I stamped my trees in VersaMark, then Pink Pirouette and poured clear embossing powder on them.  Once I heated them I sponged both on the top and the bottom in Pool Party.  On the top I punched out a circle so I could have a shimmering moon effect.  I sponged lightly around the moon, then worked my way from the outer edges in toward the moon always starting on the edges and moving in so those parts got darker and it stayed a bit lighter the closer I got to the moon.

To create the "hills" on the bottom I used scrap paper and moved it around and sponged in different areas to get the hilly look.

Make sure you head over to 'Tis the Season HERE to check out the other great cards that were inspired by this challenge.  Come play along if you have time.  We'd love to see what you create!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Evergreen Christmas Watercolor

I have to say it sure does feel like Christmas around our house right now.  Snow, snow, snow is what's happening here in my part of Michigan.  Good thing I love it or I wouldn't want to think about making Christmas cards! lol  Today I have a CAS card for you using a color challenge from 'Tis the Season.  I think it's a great masculine Christmas card and know a few guys I could send it to.

Make sure you check out all the other creations from the design team HERE at 'Tis the Season.  The colors were a little challenging for me, but I think the team did a great job coming up with cards!  Don't forget to play along too.  Christmas will be here before you know it!

Merry Christmas!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas today!

I was asked by my dad to make a card for my mom since he likes to give her one every year.  Sure, no problem. :)  Since I was doing water coloring at the time I decided to give it a try again using the retired set Evergreen.  I really like how this one turned out. :)

And another pic from the side.

Thanks for looking and have a Merry Christmas!

Evergreen Christmas

I know it's hard to think about Christmas when it's so close to the 4th of July.  Then again with as cold as it was here in Michigan yesterday it felt more like a cool October day instead of the beginning of July!  But nothing is stopping me from creating cards for Christmas and 'Tis the Season Christmas card blog.  I didn't get a chance to make three more cards though because I was helping my daughter move a bunch of her stuff back to our house last night.  Maybe I'll get a chance tonight because I really loved the colors for this week's challenge and like how my card turned out.

Head on over to 'Tis the Season HERE to be inspired by some more great cards, and take a bit to play along.  You'll be glad you have a card or two when Christmas comes around!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Elegant Evergreen

Hello, Everyone!  Today's card is another pretty clean and simple card using this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday's sketch challenge #146, and the twist is to use gold on your card.  This was a nice and simple sketch that you can do so much with.  Check out all the other great cards the designers made for this week's challenge HERE.

Since I didn't have enough champagne glimmer paper for all of my stamp a stack cards I had to make a few with the silver glimmer paper.  What do you like better?  My husband and I don't agree! lol

Evergreen

Happy Thanksgiving!  What are you thankful for today?  I'm thankful that I will be able to spend the day with my family. :)  There's a lot more that I'm thankful for than that, but that's just the start.  Now on to today's card.  It's for the next 'Tis The Season sketch challenge.  I went with a pretty basic card this time by only using two colors, and switching a couple pieces of the card stock around to make them just a little different from each other.

I don't really know which one I like better.

And now the group of them.  So far I've managed to keep up with making four cards for each of these challenges.  So glad I'll have cards done for next year if I manage to keep this up.  Now I just need to finish my cards for this Christmas. lol

Don't forget to check out what the other members of the design team made HERE, then play along yourself. :)

Nature & Northern Lights

What did I see the other day?  A tutorial over on Splitcoast Stampers on how to make a card with Northern Lights using sponges.  Well, if it involves sponging I'm all over that!  I had to get my sponges out and give it a try, but first I checked out a bunch of pics of the northern lights.  There is such a variety of color and shapes, and they are so beautiful to look at!  I've seen them in person a few times and the last time it was actually a bit red.  What an amazing sight!  That's why I added the verse on each card.  I did do my sponging a bit differently than the tutorial, but after looking at the pics I knew exactly how I wanted to attempt to make my cards. :)

I was going to throw this piece away because the first time I stamped the trees on they weren't dark enough. :(  Then I thought I'd highlight them with a white gel pen, but it ended up looking terrible.  That's when I remembered I had the stamp-a-ma-jig (I know, Red Hot Stampers, not the thing-a-ma-jig! lol).  Whew, I managed to save a piece and make a card.  The trees are a lot whiter in this pic than in person though.  I just can't get the white to not reflect so much when I'm taking the picture.

This is actually the first piece of card stock that I sponged.  I liked it so much I just kept going! :)

The theme for this card from this week's Paper Players theme challenge #170...Wildlife.  I couldn't make a card without at least one animal. :)

Like usual I had to take a pic of the group. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Evergreen at Night

Welcome to the last Red Hot Stampers challenge for 2012!  Wow, did I have to think about the sketch this time.  I was trying to figure out what to do with it after I printed it out when I saw the sketch upside down where I left the sheet lying.  An idea came to me instantly then...pine trees in the moon light. :)   Don't forget to check out what the other Red Hot Stampers made here using this same sketch...and remember we have a special gift for you this month! Celebrate Today

I'm actually posting this card a little early because I want to enter it in Stampin' Celebration's October challenge and there's only a few hours left! lol  I've been looking at their picture all month wondering what I could make using their colors.  Well nothing was coming to me and last night an idea came after looking at a card by Michelle Zindorf here (she makes fabulous cards by the way!!).  She talked about the technique "Direct to Paper".  Well that was a new challenge for me, so I thought I'd give it a try using some of the colors from Stampin' Celebration's challenge.  This is what I came up with...after a few attempts!  It was a little more work than I thought, but so worth it after I figured out what I was doing.   I must say that this technique is not for the neat stamper!  Sponging gets your fingers dirty enough, but trying to rub the ink across the paper was just as bad for me. lol  I hope you enjoy what I've created.  I stamped Celebrate Today on the bottom as a reminder to myself to enjoy each day...the beauty of God's creation, and family and friends to enjoy it with.

Red Hot Swap

Here are the cards I made for our Red Hot Stampers holiday catalog swap.  I don't have a lot of sets from the catalog, and wasn't sure what to do.  I wanted to use a set, but not for its intended purpose, plus I wanted to work with colors that I don't use that often.  I decided to use the set Evergreen with Baja Breeze card stock and make a reflection scene. :)

And here are the cards I got from the Red Hot swap.  Love making one card and coming home with different ones! :)  Oh, one card was actually coasters...what a cute idea. :)  Thanks for the lovely swaps, ladies!
