Under the Moon ~ A Stampin' Up! Card

Today's card is the Father's Day card that I created for my dad. My goal was to make the "Try a Sketch on Tuesday's" sketch work as a masculine card. I think I managed to roughly do that.

Hit the Road for Father's Day ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Happy Father's Day to all of you father's out there.
I made this card special for my dad today.  Since I don't have a stamp with a sailboat I went with what I had...antiques.  I'm pretty sure my dad's favorite color is green (at least that's what he has on his Valiant sailboat!).  I did look up green gas pumps and trucks like this just to be on the safe side and they do exist! :D

I colored in the truck and gas pump with Color Burst Pencils from Fun Stampers Journey.  I did a little erasing here and there to try and get the shine and glare from the sun.  I also used a little gray to add some shadows in.

Whip Cream
Kiwi Slice
Black Licorice

(I really didn't use kiwi slice, but I wanted green on here!  I used pencil #22)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

The Wilderness Awaits

Today I have a nice Father's Day card for you.  I also made it as a birthday card, but it could be a great masculine card for any occasion too.  It's from the new Stampin' Up! set The Wilderness Awaits.  It was also one of my stamp a stack cards for this month.  It's not difficult to make at all just takes a little time since you do a bit of water coloring.  I always try to make most of the cards pretty simple, but have one card that takes a bit of time. They still keep coming even when some of them are hard, and I'm SO thankful for each of them!

A pic of both cards together.  I made them just a bit different because I didn't have one solid strip for the background and was too lazy to cut one out of a new sheet of paper so I just took two smaller strips that were already cut and used them instead. :)

Just a close up of each of the cards.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

No Stamping on Card Stock for Father's Day!

Since it's Friday you know I've got a card for the Friday Mashup, and I think it's kind of a fun one this week.  First you have to check out what the challenge is from Lynda so you know what I'm talking about...

Create a project for "Father's Day or that special guy in your life".
Create a project with "Stamping on anything other than Card Stock".
or Mash it Up! and create a "Father's Day project with Stamping on anything but Card Stock".

The first part of the challenge is a Father's Day card (which mine really is...not lying!). ;)  It's just on the inside and I forgot to take pics of it.  The second part is to stamp on anything other than card stock.  I opted for aluminum foil.  Yup, kind of a weird thing, but I didn't know what else to use! lol  I've seen it run through the big shot and thought that was pretty cool, so why not try to stamp on it.  I have to say the only thing I really stamped on it with is VersaMark, but then I heat embossed it with black embossing powder.  To get the moon I punched out a circle and stuck it where I wanted it, then very carefully rubbed and dabbed where I wanted the ink with black StazOn.  When I was done I pulled the circle off carefully and there was the silver moon.  I loved making this card.  Hope you like it too.  Make sure you check out what the other designers made HERE.  Lots of neat ideas!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Train Traveler

Today I have a pretty clean and simple card for you using Try Stampin' on Tuesday's sketch challenge #171.  I have to say I love the new masculine set Traveler.  I can see so many possibilities with this set just like The Open Sea. :)

Make sure you check out all the other cards the designers made using this sketch HERE.

...and if you're still reading I have to share my first small picking of strawberries from my strawberry patch.  Yummy!  My daughter and I sat down and gobbled a bunch of them up.  They won't last long if I only get that many each time I pick.  It is kind of nice to only have a few to pick at a time though. :)

Here's a pic from last year of one my doggies sneaking the strawberries too.  Yup, they remembered and were doing it again this year! lol  My dogs are kind of weird that way and love almost any food they can get in their mouths.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Happy Father's Day or Birthday :)

I have a quick post for you today.  I made this birthday card for my father-in-law's birthday last week and thought it would make a good Father's Day card too, so I whipped up another one (but I'm not giving it to him for Father's Day too! lol).  This is such a quick and simple card to make using a little old and a little new. :)

Father's Day Cards

I liked the Red Hot Stampers' sketch so much this week that I made all of my Father's Day cards using it. :)  The first one is for my dad.  Usually I use blues when I use this set, however my dad just finished restoring his Valiant sailboat after working on it for about twelve years.  The stripe around the edge is similar to the Garden Green on this card.  Plus he likes green better than blue. :)

The second card is for my father-in-law.  He seems to like cars (or is it trucks) and has a couple that he would like to restore (I hope I'm remembering that correctly!)  I used a retired set for this card.  I've kept a few masculine sets that Stampin' Up! has had over the years since I like them so much.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

RHSSC - By the Tide

Happy Father's Day!  Not sure how many of you that read this are Father's, but thought I'd send it out just in case. :)  It's also Sunday so you know what that means...another Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge card.  I haven't used the set By the Tide in a while, so I decided to pull that one out for this week's sketch.  Other than cutting out the fish this was a quick and easy card to make. :)  Don't forget to check out what the other Red Hot Stampers made HERE.

RHSSC - Happy Father's Day

It's time for another Red Hot Stampers' sketch card.  Not only do we need to do the sketch this week, but we had an extra challenge to make it a Father's Day card.  I started looking through my sets and realized I don't have very many masculine sets that aren't retired!  So once again I used my trusty The Open Sea set.  Don't forget to check out what the other Red Hot Stampers made over HERE.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

RHSSC - The Open Sea

It's time for another Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge today. :) Since I needed a masculine card for a stamp a stack coming up I thought this week's design would go great with The Open Sea stamp set.  And since it's a clean and simple masculine card it goes with this week's Paper Players challenge.  I think this is the fastest I've put one of my cards together!  Guess I need to start making more masculine cards if I want any cards done. lol  Don't forget to check out what the other Red Hot Stampers made HERE.

I even put something on the inside of my card. :)

Lovely as a Tree Father's Day Card

Today's card is another one I did for my May stamp a stack and not only did this set stay in the new catalog, but starting June 1 you can also purchase it as a clear mount!  Yes, I LOVE the clear mount stamps...so much easier to see what you're stamping.  Anyway, I was busy checking out cards for ideas when I saw this card from Tamie.  I liked it so much I had to case it...I just changed the colors.  You can check out her card and visit her blog here.

Happy Father's Day

Well, as you can tell I've taken a few days off from blogging.  I hope to post more things this week than I did last week, but we'll have to see how things go.  Now that we're getting nicer weather, I need to spend some of my time outside too.  Today's card is my last Father's Day card for this year, and the one I  made for my hubby.

The Open Sea ~ Father's Day Card #4

Can you tell I'm really loving this stamp set?!  And, yes, I've made another Father's Day card with it.  This one is for my dad, and I'm hoping I remember right and that he likes green.  I'm sure he does...the sailboat he's been working on for the last eight or nine years has a green stripe on it.  He's been restoring a boat very similar to the one he sailed around the world in and he's hoping to have it in the water mid July.  How cool is that?!  Those of you who follow challenges probably know exactly where this design came from.  If not, this cool design is from Mojo Monday Challenge 193.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stamp Set:  The Open Sea & Old World Map (retired long ago!)
Card Stock:  Always Artichoke, Early Espresso & Crumb Cake

And, of course, I did some sponging. :)

The Open Sea ~ Father's Day Card #3

Father's Day is right around the corner.  Well not quite, but I don't want to be late with a card because it will be here before I know it!  The design for this card is from Stamping 411 Challenge 205.  As soon as I saw it I had this idea running through my mind and finally had a chance to sit down and make it.  SUO Challenge 20 is all about celebrating Father's Day, so this is definitely the card for that challenge too.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stamp Set:  The Open Sea
Card Stock:  Night of Navy, Basic Gray & Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pad:  Night of Navy
Embossing Folder:  Square Lattice

Can you tell I love sponging?  I think I do it on most of my cards.
I just like how it can help soften and blend pieces together a little better.

The Open Sea ~ Father's Day Card #2

On my last post I said I was getting an idea going when I was looking at a couple of challenges.  I was checking out The Friday Mashup challenge Monochromatic Man and Mojo Monday Challenge 191.  I decided to combine the two challenges and came up with this card.  I really like how it turned out and will be using it as my Father's Day card for a Stamp a Stack I'm doing this month.

The Open Sea ~ Father's Day Card

This is my first time using my new stamp set...and I've had it for a week already.  What is wrong with me?!  I'm working on a Father's Day card for my May Stamp a Stack.  We'll see if I come up with something that I like more or not.  Hmm...just looked at a couple of challenges and have another idea going through my head.  Let's see if I can get it going tonight and ready for tomorrow's post...
