Butterfly Birthday

I'm told my niece's favorite color is yellow, so I wanted to make her a bright yellow card for her birthday.  It reminds me of all the sunshine we've been getting in MI lately...now I'm ready for the warm weather to go with it!

Happy Birthday, Annie!  You're always full of smiles. :)

Clean and Simple

Hello everyone... I'm finally back and glad to be blogging again! I must say that being out of town two weekends in a row and getting ready for a workshop (between homeschooling and work) just called for a much needed break from blogging.  Now that I've had one it's time to get busy again.  I've titled this post clean and simple to go with The Paper Players challenge this week.  I wanted the first two cards for my workshop this week to be "clean and simple"...so here is the first card we made.  I actually got the basic idea for this card from my upline, Glenda.  You can view her card here.

Well, I am finally back after a bit of a break.  I was up north working at a camp for the weekend and couldn't seem to catch up on everything that needed to be done, so it was my cards that had to be put on hold.  Today's post is for a couple of challenges I try to do every week.  I'm doing Ann's Color Challenge #38 from The Paper Players and Saturday Sketch Challenge #194 from Stamping 411.

Carnations!

A few days ago I said I was going to be making some more carnations, after all they are my favorite flower.  When I saw the The Paper Players challenge to make anything that brings spring to mind I couldn't resist, and the Stamping 411 Challenge was the perfect sketch to use for the idea I had going on in my mind.

Yesterday I also made this little 3x3 thank you for a friend.

I guess the only downside to these cards is you'd have to mail them in a box!

If you didn't see my other post on how to make carnations and would like to see how, click here.  Oh, before I forget, I did use deckle scissors for these two cards, just to see if I liked it.  I think either way works!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

St. Patrick's Day

Today's card is made for Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge #42.  I must admit this has been my hardest challenge yet!  First, I didn't have any St. Patrick's Day stamps and needed to borrow a few from a friend (Thanks Christy!), and second, I've never made a card for this holiday before.  At least the colors were simple...green and white. ;)  I did manage to stamp Happy St. Patrick's Day on the ribbon, but it doesn't show up as much as I had hoped.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Lightning McQueen

Happy Birthday, Andrew!  Last Thursday was my nephew's birthday, but they celebrated it yesterday with grandparents and a great-grandma.  A few weeks ago I made Mator for his brother, and said I would make Lightning McQueen for him.

Just like Mator, this card was a LOT of work, but so worth it!  I did a lot of cutting and re-cutting to come up with something I was happy with.  As usual I always want to give credit where credit is due.  I got the idea for this from Julia Rae Brokhoff.  Thank you Julia!

Carnation Birthday Card

Well, I must admit I love my laptop and the power cord decided to die on me the other day...ugg.  Well, I guess my desktop is going to have to do until I get my new adapter...after I figure out everything on here because it's just not the same!  Today's card is one my son and I made for his girlfriend's b-day.  He said it had to have blue and her favorite flower is a carnation.  Nothing like asking me at the last minute...well around twenty-five minutes to be exact.  I jumped on the computer and Googled images of Stampin' Up carnations.  I came across this lady's blog here (thanks, Marie!), and we were able to whip up a nice card in no time!  I know I'm going to be trying this flower again!

For You ~ Silhouette Sentiments

Today's card is one I made with colors I haven't used before, but have seen together and really liked.  I got the layout from SCCSC Sketch Challenge on Stampin' Connection.  I didn't even know it was out there until yesterday when I saw someones card with the challenge listed.  This challenge is really nice because it has all the card layouts listed in one place and you can click on each one and check them out pretty quickly.  If you are a Stampin' Up Demonstrator on Stampin' Connection you can click here to see the list of sketches.

If you want to see this sketch challenge and all the samples click here.

Flight of the Butterfly

Today's card is one I made for two different challenges.  The The Paper Players challenge is "Fun with Fabric", and since ribbon is the only Stampin' Up! "fabric" I have right now I decided to see if I could come up with something a little different with the ribbon.  I also used Stamping 411 for my sketch because the ribbon square happened to work perfectly with challenge 192. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Mojo Monday Challenge 180

Today I made a card for Mojo Monday Challenge 180.  I don't think I've ever made a round card before, so I figured it was time I give it a try!  I wasn't sure what to do at first because I've made so many fancy, feminine cards lately I wanted to take a short break from them.   After taking a minute to look at the sample, the idea of using the smaller circle as the moon popped into my mind...and of course, I had to use my sponges to create that effect.  So, I got busy, sponged away and this is what I came up with.  Hope you like it.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stamp Sets:  Lovely as a Tree & On Your Birthday
Card Stock:  Night of Navy, Marina Mist & Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pads:  Garden Green, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum,
Rose Red, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie & Daffodil Delight
Punch:  Word Window & 1 1/4" Circle
Big Shot:  Scallop Circle Bigz Die

To create the sponging effect, just start lightly sponging and keep doing it until it's as dark as you would like.  Then start with the next color making sure they overlap to create the blended effect.  I do have one stripe that stands out, but I did that on purpose to try and follow the Mojo sketch having two circles and one rectangle.
