Everlasting Beauty ~ A Stampin' Up! Card

Today I have a card to share that is making me think spring! It's been unusually warm here in Michigan this year. I'm already getting growth on my rose bushes and I can see just the tips of growth on my apple tree! Hopefully the cold spell we're having right now doesn't destroy any of that. Every spring I wait to walk around my apple (and crab apple) trees and take in that glorious smell and I don't want to miss it this year!

Nature's Harvest ~ A Stampin' Up! Card!

Today's card might use a retired stamp set, but it was one of my favorites so I'm keeping it around for a while. Plus my mom requested that I make a card for my stamp a stacks using this set.

Lovely Day Paper Pumpkin Stamp Set

I made this card a while ago using a paper pumpkin stamp set called Lovely Day and I used the colored pencils black magic technique. You can use any floral stamp to make this. I just might try it on our Good Morning Magnolia stamps if I get a chance.
I've heard of this technique over the years, but had never given it a try so I thought "Why not?" and I really like how it turned out!
I started by coloring everything white, then as I added color I started with the lightest to darkest. I didn't color the whole petal or leaves when I added in the darker colors, Just the white and lightest color.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Free as a Bird ~ A Stampin' Up! Card

Today I have another card to share that was inspired by a sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday (#452).
This card definitely did not start out this way!
I had my image stamped on watercolor paper and had added the sky on it after I had colored everything else. Well it ended up being pretty dark especially at the top so I wasn't too sure about it. I took a picture and didn't like how it looked on my phone so I opted to fussy cut my image out instead. Of course after I had this card completed I took pics of the card for here on my blog and as I was looking through them all on my laptop up pops the picture with the sky and I loved it! Too late to use it now since I chopped it to pieces...that's the way life goes sometimes. lol
Here is the sketch that we used this week. I can't say I followed it exactly, but I figured the birds could be the hexagon shapes. I kind of used the optional theme "flower power" since they are on the card even though they aren't the main focus. If you'd like to see what the other designers created check out their cards HERE. As always if you get a chance to play along we'd love to see what you create!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Lovely Day ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I love this stamp called Lovely Day.  It's not too big or too small and fits perfectly on a card front.  When I made this card I hadn't been doing a lot of watercolor at all and missed it so I pulled out this stamp and tried to make the color of the flower similar to Rich Coral just not as dark.  I love the color Rich Coral...it's perfect for a poppy and when I get the stamp set Wonderful Day I'm sure I'll be using it again even though we're knee deep into fall right now.

I stamped the flowers using Black Licorice, made sure it was dry then got busy coloring the petals in.  I really don't remember what pencils I used.  I just pulled them out, rubbed the color off from the tips using a blender brush with water in it onto one of my blocks and did it with a few different colored pencils until I got the color I liked.  Not sure if you can tell in the pic, but I colored all around the flowers in a pale blue too just to add a little dimension.

The card seemed a little plain so I spritzed it with a bit of Shimmmer Gold Color Splash.  I got it a little darker than planned, but that's the way it goes with color splashes sometimes. lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Hit the Road ~ Fun Stampers Journey Card

Today's card is one of five that I made for my September stamp a stacks. It's a nice CAS masculine card to make using the FSJ set Hit the Road.  Who hasn't thought about taking a trip down Historic Route 66?  My hubby and I would like to do it someday, that's for sure!
To make this card I stamped everything using the Black Licorice ink pad and colored in the truck with the reddest watercolor pencil in the Journey Color Splash set (I think it was the first one, but since I'm not home I can't check!)  After I colored it in I used a Journey Blending Brush with the tip slightly damp.  It doesn't take much water to watercolor it!  After it was just about dry (paper still a little cool) I colored over it again to darken the truck.  I have to say that I need to work on my photo taking skills because the truck is darker in person and doesn't have any streaks in it!  I guess that's what the flash does, but the color is never as vibrant if I don't use it.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
