Mixed Florals ~ A Stampin' Up Card!

Today's card is inspired by sketch challenge #661 over at Try a Sketch on Tuesday
I bought a new stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Mixed Florals (that will be available to buy soon!) that I wanted to use because it's snowy and cold right now in Michigan. Flowers always make me happy and who can resist using something new!
Here is the sketch the designers used this time. I changed the shapes since it was going to be a lot easier to match up circles than squares! Make sure you check out what the rest of the designers created HERE and if you get a chance to play along we'd love to see what you create!
My first take on this card was an all white card base with the image stamped in black and the cone flower petals were a lighter pink. I just didn't like it, so I went back to the "drawing board" and decided to use a black card base with white embossing powder. I didn't like the light pink with the black, so I added Melon Mambo to the coneflower petals to make them a darker pink and I was happy!
Thanks for looking and have a great day!
Sara

  1. Love how you used the spotlighting technique in highlighting colors of your pretty floral and the balance of the floral on the black background is unique. Beautiful card.

  2. This is stunning! Really unusual - like a reverse spotlight. I just love the pop of color with black and white, too.
