Spring Daisies

Can you tell I'm thinking spring lately with the cards I've been making?  Seems like all my cards have flowers of some sort or another lately. :)  Today I made a card for two different challenges.

Stamping411 Challenge 191 gave me the sketch to work with and Stampin' Celebration Challenge #40 gave me the colors.

I'll admit I had a hard time trying to get the right balance with the colors at first, but I really like how the card turned out. :)
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Because I Care ~ Mojo Monday

If you checked out my blog post yesterday, you can see that I used the same stamp set and colors for my Mojo Monday card as I did for Stamping 411.  I always like to make at least two cards when I'm stamping.  I either make them identical or similar...it's just easier to do that.  After all, you already have the beginning of a card started for a second one once you've cut the first!

Lately as I've been checking out other ladies' cards on sketch challenges, I found I was coming across one lady's cards/blog quite a bit...Kasey, from Kasey's Craft Corner.  I guess I just really like her style of cards! :) Anyway, one of her cards showed instructions on putting a scalloped border under ovals and circles.  I was seeing that quite a bit and wondering how it was done.  Now that I figured out how to do it I figured Mojo Monday's card sketch challenge was the perfect time to give it a try.  Maybe a lot of you already know this trick, but I didn't.  If not and you would like to see how it's done click here, check out her card, scroll down and it will bring you to her instructions.  Thanks Kasey!

Thinking of You

I needed a sympathy card and decided to use the stamping 411 sketch challenge to help me out...again!  I love how ideas can come together so easily with just a little bit of help.

I used the hostess set Because I Care.  I think this is one of my favorite sets because I seem to be using it all the time!

Mator

Happy Birthday to my nephew, Thomas.  He had his b-day yesterday and I needed something he would like.  This is a total case from Julia Rae Brokhoff.  I don't know how she came up with this, but I'm so glad she did!  For those of you who are Stampin' Up! Demonstrators you can view her card here.

Nope, I'm not even going to try and put the recipe down here!  All I'll say is it was a lot of work, but worth it!
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Final Valentine for 2011

Yesterday my daughter asked me to quickly make a valentine card for her best friend who loves owls.  So I pulled out the owl card I made at a Big Shot club with my upline, Glenda, changed the colors to go with Valentine's Day...and this is what I came up with.

Card Stock:  Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Basic Black & Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pad:  Real Red (for sponging)
Big Shot Dies:  Scallop Circle, Scallop Circle #2, Top Note & Birds & Blooms (for eyes and feet)
Punches:  Five Petal Flower (for beak), 1" Circle & 1/2" Circle
5/8" grosgrain ribbon:  Pretty in Pink

Valentine

Well, my son impressed me...  He needed a Valentine's card for his girlfriend and asked me to help him (how many 17 year olds would do that!).  I'll admit I was being pretty lazy and wanted to copy a card exactly like I posted a couple of days ago.  He saw it and said, "I'm not tying any ribbon!".  So all we did was center the hearts and card stock under them, leave out a few of the smaller hearts, and definitely leave off the ribbon.  I told him where to cut, how to use the Big Shot, where to put the adhesive, etc. and I think he made a pretty nice card.  Of course, I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I did have to make sure everything was just right...and it actually was. :)
