Lovely Day Paper Pumpkin Stamp Set

I made this card a while ago using a paper pumpkin stamp set called Lovely Day and I used the colored pencils black magic technique. You can use any floral stamp to make this. I just might try it on our Good Morning Magnolia stamps if I get a chance.
I've heard of this technique over the years, but had never given it a try so I thought "Why not?" and I really like how it turned out!
I started by coloring everything white, then as I added color I started with the lightest to darkest. I didn't color the whole petal or leaves when I added in the darker colors, Just the white and lightest color.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Autumn Days Birthday ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Do you ever feel like you're in a slump with your creativity?  I'm sure most of us have!  Let me tell you I sure have felt that way this week and haven't created much at all. :(  Maybe I just needed a break.  Today's card is one that I created earlier this month for my open house.  I wouldn't call it a fall card even though it has leaves on it.  Guess I was looking for  more of a masculine card since my other card was a feminine one.

I started by stamping a background stamp with Oatmeal Cookie.  I didn't try to get the whole stamp inked up.  I just wanted color here and there.  After that I stamped all the leaves.  To get the various colors I started by stamping the whole stamp using the Oatmeal Cookie ink pad, then I tipped the stamp so I was just getting the edges in the ink, using both Dark Roast and Black Licorice.  After I had all three colors on  it then I would stamp it.  Not sure if that makes sense, but that's how I got the different colors. :)

After stamping everything I put a bit of Gold Silk on it and finished assembling the card.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Lovely Day ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Today's card is inspired by Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday's sketch challenge #296.  This week we also have an optional theme of Thanksgiving, but I opted for something different because of my open house later this week.

What a fun sketch to work with!  Make sure you check out all the other fun creations at Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE.  We'd love to see what you create if you get a chance to play along. :)

I used Pan Pastels to color in the flower petals because it's so quick and easy to do. :)

Some dry embossing for the background and a few pearls to finish off my card. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Botanical Birthday

Today's card shows that I finally had a chance to play with some flowers.  As much as I love winter (when there's snow!) I also miss walking in my yard and checking out the different flowers that I have all around.  The sketch challenge this week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday was the perfect sketch to play with some flowers and I did that with the Botanical Builders Framelits Dies.

Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE and check out what the other designers did with this sketch.  And show us what you create if you get a chance. We'd love to see it! :)

I sponged around the edges of each of the flowers and used my bone folder to curl the paper.  That gives the flower a lot more dimension.  I also made a little boxed envelope with a band to go around it with flowers on it too for my niece's birthday.  I totally forgot to take pictures of that though! I wasn't there when she opened it, but was told she really liked it. :)  I hope so!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Serene World of Dreams

Just a quick post today to show you something I created WAY back in September for my stamp a stacks.  Actually my daughter helped me with this one.  I had created something similar to this, but it just didn't look quite right.  Well she grabbed some card stock that I had cut up and was sitting on my craft table.  She started layering what I had stamped and here you have it.  Did I mention she hates stamping! lol  She's actually pretty creative but hates doing crafts.  Funny thing is she loves to shop and I hate it! Now if only we could both like the same thing. lol

Just a couple more pics of the front of the card and the inside also.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Watercolor Inspiration

Do you ever look at other peoples' cards and just get inspired?  I'm sure most of us have and that's what today's post is all about for me.  I  needed both a birthday and an anniversary card and  had just happened to be looking at a bunch of cards by Birgit.  The first card in her post HERE definitely inspired me.  Fascinating colors to be using together.  I grabbed a few of my ink pads, watercolor paper, aqua painters and went to work.  Two cards, same colors, totally different looks.  That's what so fun with watercoloring...you never know what you're going to get.  Her cards are just wonderful, especially if you're looking for a watercolored look.  Plus they are so clean and simple.  She sure makes water coloring look easy doesn't she?

The first card I made into a birthday card.  I taped off the edges on this card and after I stamped and embossed the trees I did add more color on.  I didn't want the trees to look like they were floating around on the paper. lol

The anniversary card was a little more flexible as you can see! lol  It just did not want to stay straight, but flop all over when I was taking picutres.  It's hard to see here, but the water colored piece is actually framed and popped up with dimensionals.  I definitely added more color after I embossed these trees because they really looked like they were floating! lol  I guess that's the fun with water coloring.  You can change things up a little if you're careful. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Calla Lily Birthday

I made a quick card last week for my stamping friend's birthday, but waited to post it until tonight since I didn't want her to see it on my blog or any of my galleries before she got it. ;)  Hugs and Happy Birthday, Friend!  You know who you are. :)

I used the new Stampin' Up! set Remarkable You for her card.  I stamped the calla lilies with VersaMark, embossed them in white and cut them out.  I sponged the color on them using So Saffron, Pink Pirouette and Wild Wasabi.  I used watercolor paper for the background and did a watercolor wash using So Saffron and Pink Pirouette also.  When it was dry I ran it through my Big Shot using the Stylish Stripes embossing folder.  I sponged around the edges of the "Happy Birthday" and the edges of the card stock with the flowers on it once again using So Saffron and Pink Pirouette.  I popped up the lilies and Happy Birthday with dimensionals and finished the card off with a few Pearls.

I can't forget to add that this card was inspired by Sketch and Stamp #111 HERE and this is the sketch I worked with.  Have I ever mentioned I love sketch challenges? ;)

Beautiful Blue Butterfly

I just wanted to get a quick post out showing a cute card I made using a bit of the old with a bit of the new. :)

It's one of the cards I'm having the ladies make for this month's stamp a stacks.  It's a very simple one to make so I know they'll like that! :)

Just a bit of a close up for you to see...

Clean and Simple Birthday with 2015-2017 In Colors

Today I have a very clean and simple card for you using this week's sketch from Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday using the new 2015-2017 In colors from Stampin' Up!  I never know if I'm going to like the next set of In Colors when I first see them and that was definitely the case with this group...I was pretty skeptical, but thought I'd better get them out and try them before I judged them too harshly.  Well I ended up really liking them so I can't complain! lol

Here's this week's sketch from Try Stampin' and I love it!  I just really like the sketches we have over there.  They are usually pretty simple, but help me create a lot of cards that I end up loving. :)  Head over to their blog HERE to see all the other great cards by the team's designers and play along with us too.  We'd love to see what you create!

Just a couple more pics to check out...

RHSSC8 - Autumn Splendor

It's Sunday and that means it's time for another Red Hot Stamper's sketch challenge! Yesterday as I was driving to the bank I couldn't help but notice how all the fall colors were still putting on a beautiful show.  It gets to be a little less each day, but it was still so amazing to look at.  That's where I got my inspiration for today's card.  That and the fact that I used the embossing and sponging technique on one of the cards that I'll be doing for my next stamp a stack.  Guess I liked it so much I had to make another card with it. ;)  You really can't tell from the pictures, but I sprayed the leaves with shimmer paint...I love how it looks!  Probably not the greatest to add it if you're doing a masculine card though. lol

Monochromatic & Gate-folded Birthday Card

On my last post I said I was hoping to sneak in a few more cards...well, I managed instead to do one card for three challenges. :)  The Paper Players new challenge for the week is Birthdays...I can always use b-day cards!  I also wanted to do the Monochromatic challenge on Hand Stamped Sentiments because I love doing those type of cards.  I also decided to do the gate-fold over on The Friday Mashup.  I haven't done one of those in a long time...actually I didn't even know it was called the gate-fold.  Guess I can still learn something new every day. :)  I was already working with two of these colors for some punch art, and I love them together so this is what I chose for my monochromatic color theme.  I've actually done quite a few cards with these colors.  They just seem to work so well together.  I just made a card last week with this stamp set too, but it was calling my name again, so it's what I went with.

Yes, I always seem to be putting a close up shot of my card.  Don't know why, I just do! ;)  In this case it helps you see the shimmer paint a little better...

...and, of course, the inside of the card.  Most of the time I like to make sure I have more than just a stamp on the inside.  If you've noticed, I like to use a faded version of what I put on the outside of the card.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
