Blossom Petals

Tonight we had our monthly Red Hot Stampers meeting, and we also had a card swap using anything from the new Occasions Mini.  I loved all the designs everyone came up with.  It's definitely a great way to get a variety of cards!   These are the cards I made for the swap.

I used sponges to get the colors on the flower petals.

Simply Adorned Charm Necklace

Well, my computer finally decided it liked my pictures on my memory card enough to let me download them and get a post on tonight! :)  When I placed my last order I decided to cave in and buy some of the jewelry Stampin' Up! is selling.  My daughter loves to wear necklaces, so I had her in mind when I bought this.  She's been asking me if I would make some inserts, but I've been putting it off.  Yesterday she said she was wearing black and gray, and asked if I would quickly make her something.  Now I'm wondering why I put it off for so long.  It was so easy to do!

Valentine Card - Take Two

As I am writing this I'm sitting by my wood stove in the basement and listening to the wind howl outside.  I guess we are getting some blizzard like weather here in Michigan!  Yes, I am definitely thankful for the warmth down here while I work on my cards...which brings me to my second attempt at a Valentine's Day card.  I used the Mojo Monday 176 Sketch Challenge to help me out with this card.  I know...I didn't do square or round.  Instead I tried to make part of it appear square by adding the ribbon on the card.   I've been looking around at a few more blogs for sketch challenges and came across SUO Challenges and decided to enter this in the SUO challenges 11 too because it's all about Valentines this week!

Because I Care

These are a couple of cards that I put together because of a mistake I made when running my paper through the Big Shot.  Because I didn't place my paper correctly on the texture plate the design didn't cover the whole paper (unless you click on the picture to make it bigger you might not be able to see the embossing), but because it ended early I was able to stamp on the bottom of it and create two beautiful cards.  I love how mistakes can be salvaged!

Yes, it's that time of year ~ Valentine's Day will soon be here!  With my next workshop coming up one of the cards requested was a Valentine's Day card, so this is the sample I came up with.  We'll see if I use this card or come up with another idea or two.  As always, I want to give credit where credit is due, so thank you to Amy Smith for this idea.

Mojo Monday 174

I'm finally back and ready to post a few things, but only one for now...it's late!  Wow, I didn't realize how much work it would be to change my blog around.  I wanted to customize my header and that took FOREVER to
figure out!  But I did it! :)
The next few cards I'll be posting are "Oldies, but Goodies"  meaning I used a few stamp sets that have been around for awhile.  This first set is Antique Autos.  I actually started this card as a sample for my sister and used Mojo Monday 174 for the layout.  I did have to change my card from vertical to horizontal to fit the car on.

Inspired by Nature

Good morning!  Here is my card for the Saturday Sketch Challenge #185 on stamping411.  A week or two ago I started cutting out these flowers for a different card.  I ended up going in a bit of a different direction with that card.  So...not wanting to waste any flowers, I decided to use them for this challenge instead.

Mojo Monday 172 Sketch ~ Lovely as a Tree

To become a little more creative and challenge myself, I decided to follow a couple of blogs and do their "sketch challenges".  I posted my first card a couple of days ago and now here's my second one. Yup, I'm already starting to love this...guess it's a good thing, because I'm going to be getting a challenge once a week from my upline...hope I can keep up!  For this card I am using the Mojo Monday 172 Sketch.

I thought I'd show the inside of this card too.  I like to add just a little bit of something that coordinates with the front of the card.

Inspired by Nature Starter Kit Card

This is the card I put in the Starter Kit Contest.  I kind of took the "only what came in your kit" literally.  That means no scissors, paper cutter, sponges, etc! I printed out what came in my kit, put only that on the table and worked from there. I folded and ripped the paper for the card, and ripped out all the flowers and butterflies. I don't ever recommend doing that though...my fingernails are  sore! For the sponging effect I crumpled up some very vanilla until it was soft and rubbed the colors on. I also did that on the edge of the flowers, stems and butterflies so the ripped edges didn't stand out as much.
