Stawberry Birthday Card

Today's card is one that I've been thinking about for a few weeks after seeing a couple of cards with strawberries on them.  I can't take the credit for the strawberry idea though.  I got them from Barb Mann and Denise Willerton....thanks ladies!  I did have to change mine a little bit because I didn't have the DSP for the stem, and I didn't want to do quite as many flowers.  I was also looking through blog challenges I follow and was a bit bummed because I haven't been doing them as much as I like to.  Well, as I was looking through them I realized my card would fit with The Friday Mashup this week!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Coast to Coast

Today's birthday card is made from one of my favorite masculine stamp sets Coast to Coast.  I know...it's retired, but my family doesn't know and wouldn't care anyway.  They just let me know they appreciate the b-day cards that I send their way.  This one is for my brother-in-law Scott.  So Happy Birthday, Scott!

Inspired by Nature

I wasn't sure how today's card would turn out, but I wanted to give it a try even though I wasn't sure about the colors. The Paper Players challenge this week was to use Baja Breeze, Poppy Parade and So Saffron.  I didn't have Poppy Parade so I substituted it with Real Red.  I'm glad I gave it a try because I really like how it turned out. :)  I used Mojo Monday's sketch challenge 186 for my design.

Butterfly Birthday

I'm told my niece's favorite color is yellow, so I wanted to make her a bright yellow card for her birthday.  It reminds me of all the sunshine we've been getting in MI lately...now I'm ready for the warm weather to go with it!

Happy Birthday, Annie!  You're always full of smiles. :)

Happy Birthday

This is a card I made for my daughter for her 21st birthday.  I tried to make the dress close to one that she recently wore to a wedding.  Of course, you need a purse to go with the dress, but I guess I forgot the shoes!

Yes...I know...this card is made with a retired stamp set.  It was one of my favorite masculine sets though, and I had pulled it out to do a challenge for retired sets and make for a cousin of mine for his birthday.

Today's card is the last one we made at the workshop...and my favorite one.  It also happens to go with Hand Stamped Sentiments Theme Challenge #60 for this week...Blooming Blossoms.  I've seen just a few of these flower cards around, and my idea for this one came from Lynn Pratt.  To see her card and instructions click here.

Carnation Birthday Card

Well, I must admit I love my laptop and the power cord decided to die on me the other day...ugg.  Well, I guess my desktop is going to have to do until I get my new adapter...after I figure out everything on here because it's just not the same!  Today's card is one my son and I made for his girlfriend's b-day.  He said it had to have blue and her favorite flower is a carnation.  Nothing like asking me at the last minute...well around twenty-five minutes to be exact.  I jumped on the computer and Googled images of Stampin' Up carnations.  I came across this lady's blog here (thanks, Marie!), and we were able to whip up a nice card in no time!  I know I'm going to be trying this flower again!

Mojo Monday Challenge 180

Today I made a card for Mojo Monday Challenge 180.  I don't think I've ever made a round card before, so I figured it was time I give it a try!  I wasn't sure what to do at first because I've made so many fancy, feminine cards lately I wanted to take a short break from them.   After taking a minute to look at the sample, the idea of using the smaller circle as the moon popped into my mind...and of course, I had to use my sponges to create that effect.  So, I got busy, sponged away and this is what I came up with.  Hope you like it.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stamp Sets:  Lovely as a Tree & On Your Birthday
Card Stock:  Night of Navy, Marina Mist & Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pads:  Garden Green, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum,
Rose Red, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie & Daffodil Delight
Punch:  Word Window & 1 1/4" Circle
Big Shot:  Scallop Circle Bigz Die

To create the sponging effect, just start lightly sponging and keep doing it until it's as dark as you would like.  Then start with the next color making sure they overlap to create the blended effect.  I do have one stripe that stands out, but I did that on purpose to try and follow the Mojo sketch having two circles and one rectangle.

Because I Care

Today's card was made for a new friend and fellow demonstrator who is going to be sending the birthday cards she receives to servicemen and woman overseas to send to back to their loved ones.  I've read about this quite a bit lately and am glad I have a chance to participate.  Click here if you'd like to read about what she's doing.

Spring Daisies

Can you tell I'm thinking spring lately with the cards I've been making?  Seems like all my cards have flowers of some sort or another lately. :)  Today I made a card for two different challenges.

Stamping411 Challenge 191 gave me the sketch to work with and Stampin' Celebration Challenge #40 gave me the colors.

I'll admit I had a hard time trying to get the right balance with the colors at first, but I really like how the card turned out. :)
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Because I Care

These are a couple of cards that I put together because of a mistake I made when running my paper through the Big Shot.  Because I didn't place my paper correctly on the texture plate the design didn't cover the whole paper (unless you click on the picture to make it bigger you might not be able to see the embossing), but because it ended early I was able to stamp on the bottom of it and create two beautiful cards.  I love how mistakes can be salvaged!

Inspired by Nature

Good morning!  Here is my card for the Saturday Sketch Challenge #185 on stamping411.  A week or two ago I started cutting out these flowers for a different card.  I ended up going in a bit of a different direction with that card.  So...not wanting to waste any flowers, I decided to use them for this challenge instead.

Mojo Monday 172 Sketch ~ Lovely as a Tree

To become a little more creative and challenge myself, I decided to follow a couple of blogs and do their "sketch challenges".  I posted my first card a couple of days ago and now here's my second one. Yup, I'm already starting to love this...guess it's a good thing, because I'm going to be getting a challenge once a week from my upline...hope I can keep up!  For this card I am using the Mojo Monday 172 Sketch.

I thought I'd show the inside of this card too.  I like to add just a little bit of something that coordinates with the front of the card.

Butterfly Pansy Cards

I came up with these cards when I saw a few samples of pansy cards and needed a birthday card for a friend at work.  I really enjoyed making these cards and used the idea for my 3x3 card exchange that I posted earlier.

Lovely as a Tree - Happy Birthday

I made this card from leftover card stock that I had when I made a Christmas card for a challenge from my upline. I originally made the tree for a sympathy card, but didn't think the subtle sponging I did on the tree went with my sympathy card...so I created a masculine b-day card instead.
