Winter Holiday ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Merry Christmas!
I want to share the Christmas cards I created for my brother to give to his sons for this year.
I stamped the trees making sure the bottoms of them were masked and stamped the word Christmas.  Then I placed on a round sticky note to mask where I wanted the moon to be.  Next I sponged...a LOT!  I started by masking the trees using Pool Play ink and sponging under them to create some hills.  Next I sponged all around the moon starting with Pool Play.  Then I added Catalina Splash making sure I didn't sponge as far in as I did with Pool Play.  I finished off with Denim Days once again not going as far in so you can see the three different colors on the card.  The last thing I stamped was the deer using Black Licorice ink.  After that I quickly assembled the card together with a couple of layers.

My World ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Just a quick post for you today...it's my hubby's birthday so I created this card for him. :)

I used a couple of embossing folders for the grainy look on the "table" and striped look for the "wallpaper".  And of course I had to have the grand idea to cut out the globe and stand so I spent a bit of time fussy cutting.  Other than that it was a pretty quick and easy card to assemble. :)

Oatmeal Cookie
Hazelnut Blend
Dark Roast

Hit the Road for Father's Day ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Happy Father's Day to all of you father's out there.
I made this card special for my dad today.  Since I don't have a stamp with a sailboat I went with what I had...antiques.  I'm pretty sure my dad's favorite color is green (at least that's what he has on his Valiant sailboat!).  I did look up green gas pumps and trucks like this just to be on the safe side and they do exist! :D

I colored in the truck and gas pump with Color Burst Pencils from Fun Stampers Journey.  I did a little erasing here and there to try and get the shine and glare from the sun.  I also used a little gray to add some shadows in.

Whip Cream
Kiwi Slice
Black Licorice

(I really didn't use kiwi slice, but I wanted green on here!  I used pencil #22)

Nature Trees ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I created today's card for my nephew's open house last Sunday.  I had been so busy the past week prepping and planning for my parents'  50th Anniversary open house that I kind of forgot to make my nephew's card. :(  Sunday afternoon an hour before his party started I quickly whipped out this card.  To be honest I'm not really sure what I think of it! lol

I guess I was in the mood to watercolor, but didn't have the time to put into that like I usually do.  This was a quick "whip the colors on and hope it turns out" kind of card.  I started by stamping a few of the same tree images with Hazelnut Blend onto watercolor paper.  I guess I did second generation stamping because I inked the stamp up, stamped it on scrap paper, then stamped the image onto my watercolor paper.  Once that was on I grabbed my large blending brush and used Green Olive, Turbo Teal and Sour Lemon splashes to add leaves and the blob of grass under the trees.  I mixed them up in different ways to get varying shades of greens starting with the lightest color and getting darker each time I added more leaves and grass.  To finish it off I added two strips of Hazelnut Blend card stock at the bottom and also a bit of gold and dark roast silks mixed together.

Kiwi Slice

Sour Lemon
Pool Play

Begin Adventure ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Today I have another masculine card to share with you.  This was also one of my May stamp a stack cards.

It was as simple as sponging the sun on using couple different yellows (I die-cut out a circle and masked the card stock so only the circle was open to sponge the sun), sponged some more around the sun with more yellow, stamped the airplane and birthday greeting, assembled the card and put on the twill rope (which is a freebie with a $50 purchase!).

Whip Cream
Lemon Drop
Summer Days
Black Licorice

Stay Wild ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Last Tuesday I said I was going to post another card from TSOT's challenge that I changed up just a bit.  This time I didn't use any aluminum foil, added sponging so I could have the moon and I also added a bit of twine across the diagonal strip.  This was one of my May stamp a stack cards and the ladies really seemed to like it...and it's actually VERY easy to create! :)

You can check out all the other great cards created with this sketch HERE.

Stay Wild ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I created this card a couple of week's ago for my nephew's 18th birthday.  And it was inspired by Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday's sketch challenge #323.  That means I actually worked ahead for once...AMAZING! lol

I did change the sketch a little to fit the stamp set that I was using.  I also created a second card with this sketch also and I will post it in a couple of days.  It uses the same stamp set, but I did a little sponging on that card.  Make sure you check out all of the other fun cards the designers created using this sketch HERE.

Stay Wild in Watercolor ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Today's card is a sympathy card I sent out to a friend of mine.  I don't know about anyone else, but sympathy cards are always the hardest type card for me to make.  Not that the card itself is hard, but I want to send just the right one.  I've heard a lot of people say they like to have sympathy cards on hand, but I can't do that for some reason.  I like to make something special and unique for each family.  Don't get me wrong...I don't expect that from anyone and appreciate each card I receive!

Here is a video showing how I created this card using the ATS stamp Stay Wild, the Dark Roast ink pad and Dark Roast and Gold Silk.

If you get my blog through email you'll need to go to the bottom of the email and click on "Simply Sara Stampin'".  That will bring you to my blog where you'll have access to see the video.  For some reason it doesn't show in emails!

Nature Trees ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card with Video

I haven't done any sponging in a while and wanted to get a little bit of it in again.  I decided to use the pine tree stamp from the Fun Stampers Journey set called Nature Trees to create a nighttime masculine card.

To create this card I stamped the trees onto Whip Cream card stock with three different ink pads:  Rock Candy, River Stone and Black Licorice.  Then I masked an area for the moon using a 1-1/2" circle.  After that it's time to sponge for a bit.  With this type of sponging I dab the sponge directly up and down...no circles or rubbing back and forth (and I always dab it onto my scrap paper before putting it directly on the paper so I know how dark the ink is). I started with the lightest gray (River Stone) and sponged around the moon, moving away from the moon.  I wanted that area to be the lightest so I'm pretty careful when I sponge where I want the most light to show.  Next I used Rock Candy, but started on the edges and in the corners and dabbed the color inward, pulling it toward the moon until the lighter and darker grays mixed together the way I liked.  The last color I sponged was Black Licorice.  I only used that in the corners and on some of the edges.  I was careful with this color because I didn't want to drown out the grays. I put on just enough to blend it in with the darker gray.

Here's a video of how I sponged the card...

River Stone
