Stay Wild ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Last Tuesday I said I was going to post another card from TSOT's challenge that I changed up just a bit.  This time I didn't use any aluminum foil, added sponging so I could have the moon and I also added a bit of twine across the diagonal strip.  This was one of my May stamp a stack cards and the ladies really seemed to like it...and it's actually VERY easy to create! :)

You can check out all the other great cards created with this sketch HERE.

Stay Wild ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I created this card a couple of week's ago for my nephew's 18th birthday.  And it was inspired by Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday's sketch challenge #323.  That means I actually worked ahead for once...AMAZING! lol

I did change the sketch a little to fit the stamp set that I was using.  I also created a second card with this sketch also and I will post it in a couple of days.  It uses the same stamp set, but I did a little sponging on that card.  Make sure you check out all of the other fun cards the designers created using this sketch HERE.

Stay Wild in Watercolor ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Today's card is a sympathy card I sent out to a friend of mine.  I don't know about anyone else, but sympathy cards are always the hardest type card for me to make.  Not that the card itself is hard, but I want to send just the right one.  I've heard a lot of people say they like to have sympathy cards on hand, but I can't do that for some reason.  I like to make something special and unique for each family.  Don't get me wrong...I don't expect that from anyone and appreciate each card I receive!

Here is a video showing how I created this card using the ATS stamp Stay Wild, the Dark Roast ink pad and Dark Roast and Gold Silk.

If you get my blog through email you'll need to go to the bottom of the email and click on "Simply Sara Stampin'".  That will bring you to my blog where you'll have access to see the video.  For some reason it doesn't show in emails!

Stay Wild Birthday ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

It was my brother's birthday yesterday, so I created a card for him.  One thing he enjoys is rock climbing so I thought I'd make him a card of the outdoors and of course there had to be a mountain on it.

The picture below shows how my card started.  I used the stamp Stay Wild and inked it up with Lemon Grass, Green Olive and then Fresh Forest.  The first time I inked it up I made sure I inked only half of the stamp and didn't ink up the bottom of  it either.  I just slid each of the ink pads across it one after the other, then stamped it onto watercolor paper.  I repeated it a second time and moved it down just a bit.

After I had my stamped images on it was time to watercolor...and boy do I need to work on it! lol  Since I want to stick with all FSJ product when I'm creating I decided to buy a covered palette to store my watercolors in.  I got all of these colors with some of my Journey Color Splash Watercolor Pencils.  I used to put it on a block and always wiped it away.  I didn't want to be wasteful so I took the time to put my favorite colors into the palette.  I think I did this before Christmas and hadn't touched them since.  Since then the water had evaporated and left me with dry colors to pull out whenever I need them!  Glad I got to try my hand at it again.  I REALLY need to practice more now that my busy January is over...whew!

Stay Wild - The Peace of Christmas ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I have another card for this week's sketch challenge over at Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday.  Now this was a fun sketch to work with, but I went a little crazy again and turned that sketch upside down!

Here's the sketch we had to work with and all I could see was a big ol' moon popping out from behind the mountain even though I was looking at it upside down! lol

Make sure you stop over at Try Stampin' on Tuesday Here and check out all the other cards made by the design team.  So fun to see what everyone else created with the sketch.  If you get a chance make sure you play along.  We'd love to see what you create!

To create this scene I started by stamping a background stamp called Vintage Notes onto Buttercream card stock using the Journey Gold ink pad (I wanted the moon to have something inside of it, so I had to start with what is the farthest in the background and move my way forward...if that makes any sense!).  Then a ripped a piece of scrap paper so I had a mountain shape ripped out.  I sponged the whole mountain with Pretty Amethyst, then added Deep Lilac and sponged from the top of the mountain down, but didn't do about the bottom 1/4 of it.  Last I sponged using the color Pretty Pansy and once again started at the top and sponged down about half way.  Next I cut out a circle for the moon and used the inside of the scrap that I had ripped out of the mountain to cover the mountain up and and the moon so I could sponge over the rest of the card without ruining the mountain that I had already sponged and to make the moon stand out.  I once again started with Pretty Amethyst and sponged over the whole card (except the mountain and moon because they are covered), then added Deep Lilac, but stuck closer to the edges. The last color once again was Pretty Pansy and I just barely touched on the left and right edges, but did the top and corners down a little farther.  I added "peace" over the moon using Deep Lilac and stamped the trees using one of my favorite stamps "Stay Wild".  I stamped that with Deep Lilac as well.  I added three pearls to finish off the card.

Love You ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Today's card is special because I made it for my hubby for our 26th Anniversary!  This year I decided to create a sponged scene.

How did I create this scene?  I started by ripping a piece of scrap paper so I had some mountain shapes.  As you can tell I used the top piece of scrap paper shown below to put over the top of my card stock while I sponged the mountains.  I started with my lightest color and finished with my darkest.  What do I mean by that?  I started with Cool Pool and sponged the mountains all the way down to the bottom of my piece of card stock.  Every time I added ink to my sponge I would start at the top of my mountains and work my way down.  That way the mountain tops are getting most of the ink and turning darker than the rest of the card stock.  However I decided I wanted the bottom of the card stock darker too with the middle area a little lighter.  I don't know why because I don't know a thing about shadowing (or whatever it's called! lol).  I just wanted that look so that's what I did.  I kept adding darker colors, working my way from the top of the mountain to the middle and the bottom of the card stock up to the middle (but didn't get the bottom of the card stock as dark as the top of the mountains).  After Cool Pool I added Beach Breeze, then Blue Lagoon and finished it with Catalina Splash.  Each time I added a color in I made sure I didn't go down as far as the color before it.

I kind of did the same thing for the sky.  I use the bottom piece of scrap paper from above to cover the mountains and punched out a 1-1/4" circle for the moon.  Once those were in place I sponged the whole sky with Cool Pool.  Once I had an even layer of Cool Pool I went over it again with Cool Pool, but didn't go as close to the moon or the tops of the mountains.  Next I sponged Beach Breeze starting at each corner and worked my way in, but once again stayed away from the moon and mountain tops.  Then onto Blue Lagoon starting in the corners and working my way in making sure I didn't go in quite as far.  I finally finished it off with Catalina Splash.  I pretty much just sponged that color in the corner and that's about it.  Totally clear right? lol  One of these days I plan to start making videos.  Hopefully you'll like that. :)

If you could see the card in person you would notice how one color flows into the other and the color is more intense!  I just have to say I love how these blues look together though...wow! :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stay Wild Scenic Stamp Off ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Pan Pastels...that's what today's post is about again.  I've used them to color flowers and leaves and the background of yesterday's Halloween card.  Other than that they are new to me.  The two cards I have to show you today were spur of the moment, no time to plan, cards (and I just do NOT work that way! lol).
The story is my upline asked me to head on over to her house while she did her live event the other night.  First she showed a bunch of new products that she bought and the AMAZE machine (great time to sign up to get the AMAZE machine and other great products for only $99.99...like my little extra tid-bit? lol).  Anyway she showed off some of the product that came out in the new Trends Mini Catalog and then it was time to get creative.  She let me pick the Pan Pastel colors and then we got busy trying to create a scenic background.  I have to say for neither of us playing with them much I thought they turned out pretty well! :)  She says she likes mine better, but I like them both the same!  We had a great time and she asked me to join her again sometime.

This is my card that I got my oily fingers on...err!  I have to watch that!  Very quick and easy to make though!  Now that I really look at it, it's a rainbow of colors.

...and this is Glenda's card.  So fun!  I love the colors around the sun and how they fade into the dark purple sky.  If you want to watch the video of us creating these cards check it out HERE.  We're at the tail end of the video.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stay Wild ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I have another CAS masculine card to share with you today.  Many of you know I love to sponge on my cards, and that's what it looks like I did on this card, but I didn't!  Ok I did a little, but just a bit on the bottom of the card.

To get the sponged look I started by punching out a circle using a scrap piece of paper to cover where I want the moon to be.  Nope, I don't remember the size. :(  Anyway I put it on a piece of  Whip Cream card stock where I wanted my moon to be using just a tiny bit of two-way tape to hold it in place.  Then I used the Journey Silver Splash and spritzed it on my card stock.  Once it was dry I took off the "moon" piece and stamped my image with the stamp Stay Wild using a Black Licorice ink pad.  After that I sponged just a little under the image using Black Licorice again.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
