Nature Trees ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card with Video

I haven't done any sponging in a while and wanted to get a little bit of it in again.  I decided to use the pine tree stamp from the Fun Stampers Journey set called Nature Trees to create a nighttime masculine card.

To create this card I stamped the trees onto Whip Cream card stock with three different ink pads:  Rock Candy, River Stone and Black Licorice.  Then I masked an area for the moon using a 1-1/2" circle.  After that it's time to sponge for a bit.  With this type of sponging I dab the sponge directly up and down...no circles or rubbing back and forth (and I always dab it onto my scrap paper before putting it directly on the paper so I know how dark the ink is). I started with the lightest gray (River Stone) and sponged around the moon, moving away from the moon.  I wanted that area to be the lightest so I'm pretty careful when I sponge where I want the most light to show.  Next I used Rock Candy, but started on the edges and in the corners and dabbed the color inward, pulling it toward the moon until the lighter and darker grays mixed together the way I liked.  The last color I sponged was Black Licorice.  I only used that in the corners and on some of the edges.  I was careful with this color because I didn't want to drown out the grays. I put on just enough to blend it in with the darker gray.

Here's a video of how I sponged the card...

Greeting Bouquet ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Hey Everyone...I haven't posted for a bit, but I've still been busy creating cards. :)  This past Saturday I met with a group of ladies at my upline's house and we did the first RG Presents...Spring into Summer together and it was a BLAST!  I couldn't believe how fast the day went!  There is another RG Presents coming up on May and I hope more of you will join me this time!  I'll be posting info in the next couple of days.  Now onto today's card...

This card was inspired by this week's Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday sketch challenge #315.  This was a really fun sketch to work with.  I changed it up just a bit again...when don't I?! lol  This is such a soft and pretty card.  It's very easy to create, but you do have to have a little patience because the flowers are fussy cut.

This is the sketch I worked with.  Make sure you check out all of the other ladies beautiful cards over at Try Stampin' HERE.  We'd love to see what you have to create!

Rainbow Bubbles Birthday Bunch ~ A Group of Fun Stampers Journey Cards!

A couple of days ago I said I'd  have a few more cards to show you that talked about a technique I used on each card.  Notice the hearts, triangles, stripes and honeycombs?  Those were all created using Modeling Paste from fun Stampers Journey and four different dies that they offer.  An easy technique to add just a little pizzazz or fun background to any of your cards.

As you look at each of the cards a little closer you'll see that I didn't try to make the modeling paste perfectly smooth or only have the shapes on my card.  I wanted them a bit rough and even let the paste go over the edges of the die-cut paper so there were edges here and there.  The first one I made was the honeycomb card and it isn't quite as thick as the rest, but that was my first try at it.  I know I will be using this technique in the future for sure! :)

This is the card I posted a couple of days ago...

I made a fish just like this one a week or so ago and loved the color of it, so I made this one the same color.

I did a bit of a watercolor wash on this card.  Since the background was a little darker than the other cards I kept my fish white and covered them with Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust.

I didn't add any glaze or sparkles to this card because I'm sure I'll give it to a boy and I'm positive most of them aren't into that as much as girls are.  I did make the fish a couple of different colors to make him pop out a bit more from the card.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Rainbow Bubbles Birthday ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Today's card is inspired by Try  Stampin' on Tuesday's sketch challenge #313.  It's also inspired by a technique, but I'll be posting more about that later this week with a few more cards.  As usual I tend to stretch the sketch a little bit, but I just wasn't liking any of the flowers I made to put on my cards...beautiful flowers is the optional theme for today's card and mine just weren't beautiful, so I had to go with some rainbow fish instead. lol

This is the sketch and you can see why I say I stretched it a bit! lol  Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE to check out all the other great cards using this sketch.  If you get a chance to play along we'd love to see what you create! :)

Nautical Sketch Birthday Card and VIDEO ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Just a quick reminder that today is the last day to sign up for RG Presents... which is on Saturday, March 25.  If you'd like to sign up just let me know or go to my website here...www.funstampersjourney.com/sarahoogendoorn and use the code BD-0235.

Do you ever have a card that inspires you to create?  Sometimes I Google certain words to see what comes up to inspire me.  I needed a little inspiration when I wanted to use the lighthouse stamp from the FSJ stamp set Nautical Sketch.  I think I Googled something like "hand stamped cards with lighthouses".  While I was scrolling I saw a card by Deb S. that eventually led me to her blog HERE.  I love how she used dark colors on the card and the oval to frame her light house.  I decided to use pan pastels to create the background and color in my light house.  I created a video for you to see how easy it is to do!

Tiger Blooms ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Before I get into today's card I want to remind you that this is the last day to sign up with Fun Stampers Journey as a coach and save $50 on one of two kits (you need to use the code JMWJB50 when you check out).  In addition to saving on one of two kits you will receive a stamp set that I showed you HERE last week.  Richard created the card below with the stamp set. I'd love to have you join my team! Just click "Join My Team" above to check it out. If you have any questions please contact me!

Boy do I have a CAS card for you today that was inspired by Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday's sketch challenge #311.  Yes, I'm saying it again...I stretched the sketch!  When don't I do that? lol  Since the optional theme is checkerboard or plaid I had to opt for something a little different which is CAS since I don't have either of those right now.

I used my ATS stamp Tiger Blooms, stamped it with clear pigment ink, poured my gold embossing powder on it, used my heat gun to melt it and there you have it.  Since the stamp has three flowers I figured the top and bottom flower represented the blue on the sketch and the middle one that juts to the right is the white square. :)

Make sure you head over to TSOT Here to check out what the other designers created.  Lot's of great cards using this sketch.  If you get a chance to play we'd love to check out how this sketch inspired you. :)

I can't tell you how difficult it was to get a good picture of the gold on this card.  It was either to shiny, dull or a mixture of both.  The top flower in the picture above is the closest I could get to how it actually looks.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Hit the Road Birthday Card and Video ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Hey Everyone...I have a couple of fun masculine cards to show you today.
My nephews have their birthdays a few weeks apart, so they have a birthday party sometime in between.  I usually make them the same card, but sometimes change the colors up a bit.  That's what I did on their cards this time around.  The first card I made was the Candy Apple truck and the second one is Huckleberry Fusion truck.
I thought I would love the red and think the blue was just ok.  I honestly don't know which one I like better!  Both are fun and pretty quick to create.  Notice I didn't stamp my trucks onto Candy Apple and Huckleberry Fusion card stock.  Instead I stamped them both onto Whip Cream card stock, did some masking and sponged the trucks.  I use my sponges in a different way depending on what I'm sponging.  I've made a video to show you how I used my sponges on the trucks...Enjoy!

Rock Candy
