Mixed Florals ~ A Stampin' Up! Card

Today's card uses the spotlight technique and was inspired by Try a Sketch on Tuesday #676 and the Double Trouble Challenge #197.
It was fun and pretty easy to create. That's why I like the spotlight technique...you color or paint a small portion of the picture instead of the whole thing. When you need a quick card that is a big help! I stamped this on Fluid 100 watercolor paper and inked it with tuxedo black memento ink. I don't like to watercolor when I use that ink because it runs, but I definitely don't like permanent black inks that don't come off my photopolymer stamps. I make sure I heat set it or let it dry on it's own for quite a while before I do any painting.
Here is the sketch that I worked with for Try a Sketch on Tuesday. I also added a few extras from the Double Trouble Challenge. Make sure you check out what the designers created HERE using the sketch and if you get a chance to play along we'd love to see what you create!
I forgot to mention earlier that I used ink that was in the lid of my ink pad to color in the flowers using a water pen. This is a quick and simple way to watercolor.
Thanks for looking and have a great day!
Sara

  3. Outstanding card, Sara! This is one of my favorite SU stamp sets, but I resisted the urge to purchase it. After seeing your lovely card, I may have to rethink my decision. This was the perfect image for your Spotlight technique.

    1. Suzanne, you did comment and I appreciate you reminding me! However life got in the way this past week, so I never added anything to the other challenges.
