Cherry Blossom Tree with Salt

I'm a little behind posting my watercolor painting for Watercolor Wednesday Splitcoaststampers (WCW268), but I guess better late than never, right? Sorry the first snippet is a little blurry! I gave the card away and can't get another photo of it.
I ended up painting this painting four times! Was I discouraged? A little bit, BUT I learned along the way each time I painted another one. Definitely worth all the extra time!
Did I paint it that many times because I didn't like them? Nope! I was working on the salt technique and used Stampin' Up! ink refills the first two times and DaVinci watercolors the last two times. I tested Stampin' Up! ink with two different colors. Not sure if you can see the tests I did or not, but I really liked how they turned out. However when I started the actual painting, put the salt on and let it dry it did NOT turn out like the tests I did. I found out both times that it has to be put on immediately after I paint (literally after each dab of the brush) because the ink is absorbed into the paper so quickly and dries a lot faster than watercolor paints. I just flicked darker pink paint to get a look I liked, then moved on to my DaVinci watercolors.
The first time I used my watercolors I had the paper WAY too wet, so I ended up flicking paint into the tree again once the first layer had dried, then and tried painting it one last time and that turned into the finished card.
I ended up giving the card to my sister for her birthday because it reminded me of a picture we took in the spring of 2024 under a crab apple tree in full bloom. We liked it so much we decided to take another picture under those same trees this spring, but they had ripped all of the trees out and we had to find somewhere else to take another picture. My sister loved the card and said it brought back the same memory that I had. So thankful for my dear sister! Love her lots!
Thanks for looking and have a great day!
Sara
