Vivid Vases

Today's card is for a great sketch over at this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge #162.  There's also a twist for this week, and it's bunnies and chicks.  I didn't do the twist because I don't have any stamps with bunnies or chicks!  Can you believe it?  Nope, none at all.  Instead I just went with one of the newer sets from Stampin' Up! called Vivid Vases.  I figured it was about time I put it to some paper.  I really like how it turned out, but I have to admit it looks so much better in person than it does in the picture.  I like how the bright flowers pop against the browns. :)  Make sure you visit Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE to check out what the other designers made this week.  And if you have a chance play along and show us what you made. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

You're Lovely, Daffodil

Yeah, it's Friday!  Last week was so busy and this week wasn't too bad, so why am I so excited for the weekend?  Who knows, but I'm glad it's here.  And since it's Friday it's time to show you my card for the Friday Mashup challenge.  This week Tara brings us a great challenge...

Create a project using the "Scattered Embossing Technique".
Create a project with "Spring Colors or a Theme".
Or Mash it up and create a "Spring project with the Scattered Embossing Technique".

I've never done the scattered embossing technique, so that was something new and fun to do.  I also chose to use yellow for this week's card since it's bright and springy and a favorite color of my niece's.  I hate to admit it, but I'm SO far behind on my March cards and it's already April 4.  At least I have one of them done now.  I hope to finish them up this weekend.  Maybe that's why I'm excited for the weekend.  I can just make a few cards and relax and enjoy doing it. Don't forget to check out what the other designers made for this week's challenge HERE.  They're beautiful!  Make sure you play along too if you get a chance so you can try out the scattered embossing technique and think spring at the same time. :)

I can't forget to add the the other challenge that I used to help create this card. I used this week's Freshly Made Sketches for my card design.  I'm finally playing along with a sketch challenge since I haven't done it in a while.  Actually I did last week and totally forgot to play along on their blog!  Guess that means I'm getting old! lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stippled Blossoms Birthday Wishes

Today I have a card for you using this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday's sketch challenge. This was a great sketch to work with, and I actually had a few ideas in my head.  I used this color combo though since I haven't done any cards with it in a while.  Head on over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday's blog HERE to check out what the other designers have made using this sketch.  Oh, I almost forgot to add what the twist is for the week...use a photo.  I decided to "frame" a flower for my photo.  Hope you like it and are inspired to join us this week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Spring Stippled Blossoms

Hi Everyone!  Today's card is for the challenge I'm hosting this week over at the Friday Mashup.  This week we're playing with colors and a technique...

Use the colors "Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi & Perfect Plum".
Use "an Aqua Painter or a Blender Pen to create a Watercolor Effect".
Or mash it up with the "Colors above & a Watercolor Effect".

Since I haven't used the set Stippled Blossoms in quite a while I decided to pull it out, dust it off and give it another try. I always love how my cards turn out when I use this set.  I used the three colors, but did I give it a watercolor effect?  I sure did!  It's just a little hard to see in the picture.  After I stamped each of the flowers I used my aqua painter to blend the colors together.  Usually when I stamp with this set everything is very crisp.  It still looks nice, just has more of a blended effect which is what I was looking for.  After I blended the colors I let them dry, cut out the flowers and (of course!) spritzed everything with smooch spritz to make it shimmer. :)  Don't forget to visit us at the Friday Mashup HERE to check out what all the other designers made.  Their cards are fabulous!  Well, they are every week, but I loved what each of them did using this week's mashup.  Don't forget to play along to show us what you can create. :)

Oh, I almost forgot to add where I got my card design from.  Can't forget to mention that!  It's been so long since I've played along with a challenge I almost forgot ! lol  As soon as I saw this week's sketch challenge from the Paper Players I knew exactly what I was going to make.  It usually takes me a while to figure out what I want to do since it never seems to turn out on my card the way I thought it would in my head.  Anyone else ever have that problem? lol  For once that wasn't the case...whew!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Christmas Blessings

Hi Everyone!  With spring finally on it's way (I think) it's hard to be thinking about making Christmas cards, but that exactly what I did for today's post.  I have to say I was a little baffled about what I would make using this sketch and trying to make it "Christmas-y".  I thought for a bit, grabbed an embossing folder, stamp sets, some ink, a punch and got busy.  I didn't think it was going to turn out at first, but I have to admit I like it quite a bit.  Guess the sketch was just right after all. :)  Now I need to sit down and make the other three like I'm supposed to be doing!  I'm thinking maybe a dark blue, possibly rich razzleberry and one other color.  Any ideas for the last color?  Guess I'll have to think about that a little more.

Don't forget to visit us at 'Tis the Season and play along too!  We'd love to have you join us. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Lovely as a Tree Sunset

Hi Everyone.  It's Tuesday, so that means it's time for a card for this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge.  However we are doing things a little bit differently this week.  We're doing a blog hop!  If you're following the order of the blog hop you should have come here from Rose's blog, and when you're done looking at my card I'll leave you with the link to Sarah's blog.  You'll want to keep going through all the blogs to check out the great cards everyone made!  My card has actually been in my mind for a few weeks.  As I was driving home from work one evening I couldn't help but see the sun starting to set behind the trees, and thought it would make for a nice picture on a card.  The only difference is there was still snow on the ground.  Yup I changed it to grass!  I just thought the touch of green would be nicer. :)  This card also goes along with this week's twist:  A Masculine Touch.

This was great sketch to work with and who doesn't need more masculine cards to add to their pile for when you need one. :)  Now make sure you hop on over to Sarah's blog HERE to check out her great card!  Thanks for joining all of us!  Oh, I almost forgot to mention one thing...CherylAnn, the creator of Try Stampin' on Tuesday, will be holding a drawing for anyone who comments on any of the blogs.  I don't know what the drawing is for, but I guess that will have to be a surprise. :)  So go ahead and comment away on any or all of the blogs if you get a chance.   It's always nice to hear that someone likes something you've created. :)  Don't forget to join us by creating your own card using this week's sketch.

Masculine One Layer Card

Today's card is a little different than my norm, but it was actually really simple to make.  It's a one layer card, and that's what we need for this week's Friday Mashup challenge.  This week our challenge is from Lisa and here is what it is...

Create a project using a "Nautical Theme".
Create a "One Layer Card".
Or mash it up and create a project with the "One Layer Card with a Nautical Theme".

Since I've used The Open Sea Set so much lately I decided to use By the Tide for my nautical theme.
