Winged Watercolor Wash

Here's a card I made using watercolor wash for a friend's birthday.  I started by wetting my watercolor paper and putting drops of reinkers on it using an aqua painter.  I used So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral and Strawberry Slush.

Once the watercolor paper dried I ran it through my BigShot under an embossing folder instead of in between.  That flattens it back out.  I was too impatient to tape it down when I got it wet! lol  I've also found I need to use a very sticky tape to keep the watercolor paper attached to any card stock.  I've been using Fast Fuse Adhesive and that seems to be working so far. :)

I cut out the largest butterfly in Basic Black using the Butterflies Thinlits Dies.  Yeah I didn't even know the trick of using dryer sheets to pull out all the tiny pieces.  Glad my upline Glenda mentioned it.  Shows how much time I have to look at all the tips and tricks out there! lol  I also spritzed the butterfly with smooch spritz, stamped "Happy Birthday" on Calypso Coral paper and punched it out using the Decotrative Label punch and did another in black and layered it under the calypso coral one.  I also ran the base of the card through the big shot using the Large Polka Dot embossing folder.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

pssst...you make me HAPPY

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!  Here in my crazy part of  Michigan we're still in the midst of a snowstorm.  I can't believe how much snow we've had and it's only November 18!  Well as you can see all the snow made me think of warmer weather. lol  I just needed a break from Christmas cards and came up with this card instead.  The sketch is from this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge #194, and the theme is Twice is Nice.

Well, the "Twice is Nice" on my card are the symmetrical wings on the butterfly.  I tell ya I just was not sure what else to do! lol  Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE to check out all the cards from the rest of the design team.  They are great!

Just another quick pic. :)  Guess I forgot to mention how I did this card, so I figured I should pop back in and let you know.  I stamped the butterfly with memento ink and colored it in with Coastal Cabana Blendabilities.  Then I inked it up everywhere with VersaMark, covered it with Heat and Stick powder and heated it.  Then I covered it with Dazzling Diamonds and heated it one more time.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Blue Butterflies

It's Friday!  I'm always excited about Friday lately.  Probably because at my previous part time job I didn't work Mondays or Fridays.  That means I had plenty of time to take care of things at home and felt like I was caught up a lot more.  I have to hand it to women who work full time, then come home and deal with everything else.  Either that or they have great hubbies that help out.  I love my job and although it's still part time it's a LOT more hours than my last job.  Seems like I'm always behind now and can't seem to catch up.  I guess that's life sometimes.  Ok, after that little rant lets get on to this week's card for the Friday Mashup.  Avery has a couple of great things for us to mash up...

Create a project using the "Sketch".
Create a project using " an assortment of different Pattern Papers".
or Mash it Up! and create a project with the "Sketch using different pattern papers".

Since I don't buy very much DSP, ok pretty much none at all, I had to go a little different of a route for the pattern paper part of the challenge.  I embossed whisper white card stock with eight different embossing folders, then punched a butterfly out of each one.  Then I sponged around the edges of each one with the same color of square I put them on.  This was actually a pretty quick and easy card to make AFTER I got the squares put on my paper just right. lol

Make sure you head on over to the Friday Mashup challenge HERE to see all the other great cards and to play along too.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Beautiful Wings

Today's card is for a couple of challenges that I really wanted to do, and I thought the design and colors would go together perfectly.  I used Stamping 411's sketch challenge for the design and The Friday Mashup for the colors, butterflies and bling.

White on White

Today's card is something I've always wanted to try and didn't think I could do it.  Well, at Less Is More their challenge is White on White...and it's possible!  Check out the cards that so many ladies have posted already.  They are absolutely beautiful!  As I had all these ideas running through my head, I was pulling all sorts of things out for my Big Shot.  Then I remembered Mojo Monday's challenge and decided to use their design for my card...it helped me focus.  I really like how it turned out!

Here are a few close-ups of different areas on the card.

Clean and Simple Thank You

Today's card is for a new challenge I found on someone's blog that I follow.  I actually made a couple of thank you's for my stamp a stack that were inspired by this challenge and decided to make one more to enter in the Less Is More challenge blog ~ clean and simple, off center. I was also looking at the Friday Mashup challenge which is black, white and square.  That's where I got my colors...or you could say lack of colors!  I love how it turned out though.

A little closer view...

I also wanted to show the small detail I added using my scoring blade.  Not sure you can see that very well unless you click on the first picture to enlarge it.

Inspired by Nature

Today's post is a card I finished a few days ago.  I had started it a couple of weeks ago when I was trying to come up with ideas for a workshop and couldn't seem to finish it any way that I liked it enough to use it.  That's because the colors and layout came from Debbie Tompkins, but I didn't want to totally case it!  I just loved the colors that she used!

Butterfly Birthday

I'm told my niece's favorite color is yellow, so I wanted to make her a bright yellow card for her birthday.  It reminds me of all the sunshine we've been getting in MI lately...now I'm ready for the warm weather to go with it!

Happy Birthday, Annie!  You're always full of smiles. :)

Well, I am finally back after a bit of a break.  I was up north working at a camp for the weekend and couldn't seem to catch up on everything that needed to be done, so it was my cards that had to be put on hold.  Today's post is for a couple of challenges I try to do every week.  I'm doing Ann's Color Challenge #38 from The Paper Players and Saturday Sketch Challenge #194 from Stamping 411.

Flight of the Butterfly

Today's card is one I made for two different challenges.  The The Paper Players challenge is "Fun with Fabric", and since ribbon is the only Stampin' Up! "fabric" I have right now I decided to see if I could come up with something a little different with the ribbon.  I also used Stamping 411 for my sketch because the ribbon square happened to work perfectly with challenge 192. :)
