By the Tide Birthday

It's Friday!  That means the weekend is beginning, and I'm definitely ready for that! :)  I've also been enjoying the warm weather we've been having here in Michigan.  I hope it will be nice and stick around for a few more weeks since I'd like to enjoy Art Prize in some mild weather.  Here's hoping it's warm toward the end of it when there won't be as many people around (I hope!)  Since it's Friday I also have another card to show you for the Friday Mashup challenge.  This week's fun challenge is from Avery...

Create a project with "Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry & Basic Black".

Create a project with the "Ink Blowing Technique".  Link to technique here.
or Mash it Up! and create a "Project using the colors above & the Ink Blowing Technique".

I'd say everyone went a little more modern with their cards that I did, but I don't have any stamps to do that.  Instead I pulled out By the Sea and decided to "color" my fish using the blowing technique and put it in the background too.  I did have to put some Crushed Curry behind my fish to make him stand out just a little bit since my colors are kind of dark.  I was happy with how it turned out since I wasn't sure I'd get anything I liked at all! lol

Make sure you head on over to the Friday Mashup HERE to check out the other neat cards for this week's mashup.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Endless Christmas Wishes

I have a fun group of cards to show you today!  I made these for 'Tis the Season's color challenge #26.  I used the colors Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive.  You'll see the colors listed in the challenge as Red, Craft and Olive

Head on over to 'Tis the Season HERE to check out all the other cute Christmas cards using these colors, and make sure you play along too if you get a chance.  Christmas will be here before you know it, and you don't want to spend too much time trying to get cards done at the last minute (like I used to do!).

I also used a sketch challenge for this cute design.  Another Red Hot Stamper creates sketches for us to play along with (Thanks, Rachel!).  Unfortunately I don't get the chance to play along much, but really wanted to this time.  You can check out the sketches HERE and see the sketch for this card below...

Layered Lovely as a Tree

Today's card is one that I had a lot of fun making!  Ever look at a sketch challenge and wonder what in the world you're going to make with it?  That's what happened when I first looked at this sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  Then an idea popped into my head and I ran with it...that's why I said I had a lot of fun with it.  I love it when a card manages to fly together.  Yup, I'm a slow stamper and things need to be "just so" before I'll go on, but this one came together pretty quickly. :)

This is the sketch we had to work with and you can see I did change things up a little.  I wanted to use squares instead of circles, and to fit all the trees from my stamp on the card I had to make it horizontal instead of vertical.  I also changed where I put the sentiment.  I just couldn't get the banner to look right because it was covering too much of my trees no matter how thin I made it.

Make sure you stop by Try Stampin' on Tuesday see all the great cards made using this sketch and to give it a try.  The twist for this week is Trees and Leaves, but I just stuck with trees this time around. :)

I had fun taking pics and a lot more turned out than not this time.  I usually have a hard time getting pics that show the card how it actually looks.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Kinda Eclectic in Vellum

Today's card is probably a bit more of a spring or summer card because of its colors, but I'm ok with that because I'm not quite ready to let go of summer yet!  Maybe that's why I was having a hard time coming up with my card for this week's Friday Mashup.  Because of that I started looking at color challenge blogs.  It seems like I'm so busy between life in general and work that I don't get a chance to check out other blog challenges, so that's what I did.  I decided to go with the colors at the Color Throwdown to help me out this time.  Oh, I can't forget to say what the fun mashup from Tara is...

Create a Project using "Vellum".
Create a Project with "Stitching (Sewing or Faux)".
or Mash it up! and create a Project with "Vellum and Stitching".

Strawberry Slush Serene Silhouettes

It's Tuesday so that means it's time for another sketch challenge from Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  Another great sketch over on their blog.  There is a theme which I totally forgot to do even after I wrote it down!  I had an idea pop into my mind and totally forgot about the colors...yellow, orange and brown.  That's ok because the theme is optional, but I do like to try and play along with it usually.

This card wasn't too hard to make...just mostly sponging.  I wanted to start in one corner and have that one be the darkest and move my way to the opposite corner and have that be the lightest, but still try to have a dividing line from dark to light horizontally across the card.  When I sponged I put my smaller piece of whisper white card stock on my larger piece of whisper white with just enough tape to make it stick so I could take it off later.  I did the same with a circle piece of scrap paper using my 1 3/8" circle punch so I could have a white moon after I was done sponging.  After all my sponging was done I stamped my image on the small piece of card stock (make sure you've taken it off your larger piece), layered it on basic black, then lined up the moon when I placed it on the larger piece of cardstock since part of the image was on my smaller piece and some on the larger piece.  I colored my pearls with the darkest smoky slate blendabilites marker since I don't have any black candy dots left (but still plenty of other colors left!).

Make sure you hop over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE to see the other great cards created using this sketch and to play along too.

Fall French Foliage

Is it Friday already?  Wow has this week flown by!  I won't complain about that. :)  Well since it's Friday I have another card for the Friday Mashup.  This week Heidi brings us another fun mashup challege...

Create a project using the "Sketch".
Create a project with "Leaves".
or Mash it Up! and create a project with "Leaves using the Sketch".

I had to use my favorite fall set for today's card even though it's retired.  This set creates a beautiful card all the time. :)  I embossed the leaves in gold and fussy cut them out.  Then using the newest In colors I sponged in each of the leaves and, of course, had to spritz them with smooch spritz.

Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup HERE to be see what the other designer's created and to play long too. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Beauty of the Season

Guess what?  Christmas is coming!  The last I heard someone mention it we were 15 weeks away.   How are you doing on your Christmas cards?  I have quite a few done thanks to 'Tis the Season Christmas card blog challenge. :)  That's what today's card is for, and we are on challenge #25.  Why not stop on by HERE to get a little inspiration and to play along.

I really like this new Christmas set from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog, Beauty of the Season.  I was going to add in some sponging or brayering for the backgrounnd, but decided I liked the card just like this.  After coloring everything in with Blendabilities and coloring over it with an embossing marker so I could clear emboss over everything I wasn't about to take a chance and ruin it. lol
