Christmas Wonderland

It's a Christmas Wonderland today on my blog.  Well it kind of looks like a starry night too and that's what it is...starry and/or snowy.  Whatever you'd like it to be. :)  This week we have a great sketch to work with at 'Tis the Season Christmas card challenge blog.  I had an idea and ran with it, but I wasn't quite as happy with it as I had hoped to be so I took something simple and (of course) had to make it a bit more complicated! lol

This is our sketch for the week.  It's pretty basic and simple.  Trust me it really is!  I just like to complicate things for some reason when I make cards! I NEED to learn to make CAS cards every now and then.

Make sure you head over to 'Tis the Season HERE to check out all the great Christmas cards made using this sketch.  It's so fun to see such a variety of cards made from the same sketch.  We'd love to have you play along too!  You know you'll be making your cards sooner or later...and sooner is much better than later! ;)

Sorry  I have so many pics on here.  I just know I love to check out different pictures,
so I'm hoping you do to. :)

So which color is  your favorite?  We all agree at my house on one color in particular.  Wow, we all agree on the same thing?  That doesn't happen very often!  Anyway I'd love to hear from you letting me know which color you like the best.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Thinking of You with Flowers

Today's card is inspired by Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge #238.  As you can see below it has a big prize ribbon on it and the optional theme is "Hooray!".  I wasn't sure what to do with that so I decided to change things up just a little and create (I think) a lovely thinking of you card.  I guess my hooray is that I was able to come up with a card to go with the sketch at all! lol  Actually I enjoyed the challenge of figuring out something that wasn't a ribbon, but still went with this week's sketch.

Be sure to head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday's blog HERE to check out what the rest of the team did.  I was definitely wondering what each of them would come up with since I had NO clue what I was going to do at first.  If you get a chance to play we'd love to see what you create!

Blue, Blue and More Blue...

I have to say I sure do miss my laptop!!  I can't believe how much easier it is to post on my blog when I can do everything from one place.  We sure are spoiled by technology aren't we...that is until it decides to crash on us! lol  Anyway today I have  a couple of cards for you that I was challenged to make by my upline.  She wanted us to try the embossed scenic background technique...at least that's what she calls it. :)  I started working on it the other night and just got frustrated since it wouldn't emboss my whole background.  I set it down and figured I was too tired and needed to work on it another time.  So I picked it up the next morning and realized I just needed to put a shim under it when I ran it through my Big Shot, so that's what I did and I was good to go again.

As you can see I decided to make two different card using the same colors.  Since I knew I needed a baby boy card I figured the stars would be the perfect background for that.  The second card is the one I was so frustrated with.  I ran it through a second time and got color on the trees, but decided I didn't really mind the look of it and went with it.  Can you see the huge mistake that I did make on the card and didn't correct before I took the pics?  I guess I was still too tired to work on it in the morning too! lol  I'll be changing that huge mistake before I send the card out! ;)

Delicate Boughs and Berries

It's time for Christmas cards again at 'Tis the Season Christmas blog challenge.  We have a color combo for you this time around...marina, sky and slate.  Not a bad color combo at all!

Make sure you head over to 'Tis the Season HERE to check out all the other cards made by the talented designers.  Lots of different ideas for this color combo!

I used a couple of new things from the Stampin' Up! holiday catalog that I hadn't had a chance to use yet...Embellished Ornaments stamp set (just the sentiments), Delicate Ornaments thinlits dies and a new embossing folder Boughs & Berries.

Wonderland Wilderness

Today I have a masculine card to share with you that I made for my brother-in-law's birthday.  I've been itching to use the new set Wonderland because I love using trees on my cards.  Over at Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday we have a great sketch and a technique challenge called a gate fold this week.  I'm not sure what way the gate fold is supposed to go, but the way I chose was perfect for the idea I had in my mind.

For some reason my poor elk looks like he's kind of red, but he's not that way on the card.  I find that water coloring with Stampin' Up! inks work, but the colors ink the ink do break apart the more water you use.  I think that's why it looks this way in the picture.  I'll keep on using their inks though since I love Stampin' Up! and if you use the colors enough you know what colors they start to break into.  Plus I love trying my hand at water coloring.  It's kind of a cheating form of water coloring, but I enjoy the results! :)

Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday to check out all the other great cards made using this sketch!  We'd love to see what you create!

Since it's a gate fold card I figured I'd show you the card in a couple different stages. :)

Other than taking the time to watercolor this card was actually really simple to create...and that makes me happy! :)

Christmas Bokeh

I'm a little late posting my card for 'Tis the Season Christmas card challenge, but last night our internet was having  fits and today my computer decided to crash...bummer. :(  I'm sure no one else ever has these problems, right? lol

It's been about a year since I first tried the bokeh technique.  When I did it last time I didn't have what I really should have to make the technique go as smoothly as possible and told myself I'd NEVER try it again.  Well as you can see I changed my mind. :)  It's an inspiration challenge over at 'Tis the Season this time and I saw the bokeh effect and decided to give it a try again.  I made a couple of cards and I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out. :)  However I can only show you one until I get my computer fixed!

Make sure you head over to 'Tis the Season to check out all the other cards inspired by this pic.  If you get a chance play along too...we'd love to see what you create!

It's Here...The Holiday Catalog!

Can you believe it?  Two posts in one day?! lol  I had to post this today because everyone can now order from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog!!  I've bought a few things and have some more on the way and they should be here tomorrow. :D  Lots of fun things in this catalog.  I think my favorite thing is the Sleigh Ride Edgelits, but the set Wonderland comes in a close second.  I haven't had much time to play with anything, but I have a LOT of ideas going through my head!  Another thing I like is Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper (and that's saying a lot for me because I don't usually like DSP!).  If you don't have the catalog and would like to take a peek at it click HERE.  Or...

At the bottom of this post I have links to all the bundles available in this catalog.  Make sure before you buy anything that you check to see if it's a part of a bundle!  I've kicked myself a few times because I'd buy something only to realize later that it was part of a bundle and I wanted both things, but ordered them separately.  I believe you save 15% if you order the bundle! :)

If you would like to order anything click HERE or go to the bottom of this post.  Everything in the catalog is shown below with the price and if you click on any of them they will bring you right to my webpage. :)  Thanks to those of you who already order from me and stop by and say "Hi" here on my blog.  I appreciate each and every one of you! :)

Shake It Up!

Good morning, Everyone!  Today started off a bit foggy here in my part of Michigan, but with September beginning we are supposed to be having record high temps this week.  We'll see if it actually happens since weather in the mitten state seems to be so unpredictable most of the time!  Since it's still warm here (well other than last week!) I figured I'd make another card with a flower.  The flower part of this card is actually a challenge from a fellow Red Hot Stamper.  At our last meeting she challenged us to make something with the sparkly flower she made for all of us, and to bring it to our next meeting.  I guess it's going to get a little early exposure since I thought the sketch from Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday was the perfect sketch to put it on. :)

Not sure if you can tell, but this is also a shaker card.  I punched out some hearts and put in some diamond dust to finish it off.  Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' HERE to check out the other great cards made using this sketch.  We'd love to have you join us too!

Christmas Sleigh Ride

I have a fun Christmas card to show you today that's inspired by the sketch challenge over at 'Tis the Season.  I made this card with some fun new stuff in the Stampin' Up! holiday catalog!  I couldn't wait to play around and see what I could come up with.  First of all I finally went out and bought some liquid frisket!  I've seen so many cards where it's been used and had to try it myself.  I can guarantee I'll be using more of since it will be great for Christmas and winter cards!  Second is the fun little scene you can create using the new edgelits.  I've already seen so many beautiful cards made with them, and I plan to add to what's already out there. :)

Make sure you head over to 'Tis the Season HERE to check out the other fun Christmas cards using this sketch and play along too.  We'd love to see what each of you create. :)

I loved the sketch for this challenge, but I have to say I did NOT love the way I decided to make the little curve at the top of my "rectangle", or that fact that I needed to line up the curves underneath the rectangle to where they are on the rectangle! lol  Why do I always do this to myself?  I have no idea, but when an idea pops into my mind I just have to get it on paper. :)

Vintage Leaves Birthday

I totally forgot to schedule my post for today so it's a little later than I planned!  I'm sure that's never happened to anyone else right? lol  Today's card is inspired by Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday and once again they have a great sketch for us to work with.  Since I had a new set and had some fall colors on my mind I decided to make a couple of the shapes into leaves and turn my card into more of a masculine card.

Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' HERE to check out the other great cards using this sketch and play along if you get the chance.  We'd love to see what each of you create. :)

To color my leaves first stamped each of the leaves, cut them out with framelits, then started sponging them with different colors.  Then I spritzed them with rubbing alcohol and crumpled them up.  I use alcohol because it dries a LOT faster than water.  I unfolded them, straightened them out a bit and there you have it...a couple of fall leaves. :)

I Sea It's Your Birthday!

Hey Everyone!  I've been a little lax sharing cards with you so here is one I have for this month's stamp a stacks.  I know it's pretty dark, but seeing the lighthouse stamp in the new Stampin' Up! masculine set got me thinking and this is what I came up with.  It's a pretty quick and simple card to make.  The sponging is what takes most of the time, but not as much as I though it would.  That's always good when something goes together faster than you though right? :)

I sponged on Whisper White card stock starting with Crushed Curry, then added a bit of  Cajun Craze, under that I added Cherry Cobbler, then finished it off with a good chunk of Basic Black.  Yes, I used the spongy pad for this.  I didn't matter if it smeared and worked great for this card, however I stamped the sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I did go over things a second time here and there just to make sure the colors were blended together really well.  You don't want to leave gaps between the colors, but instead make sure they flow into each other.

I stamped the lighthouse, cut it out and then sponged over it.  Sometimes you can see the outline of the lighthouse like in this picture and sometimes not.  I just depends on how the light is hitting the card.  I made my moon the "lazy" way this time.  I sponged everything, then punched out the moon and dabbed just a bit of Cajun Craze on it.  It looks pretty white in this pic, but it does have just a touch of the yellow all over it.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Colorful Christmas Bauble

Christmas is right around the corner...are you ready?  Nope, me either! lol  That's true with my Christmas cards too.  I've been working on them slowly and steadily and today's cards are no exception.  This time around 'Tis the Season has a color challenge for us.  I wasn't too sure about these colors, but after I "painted" them into the ornament I was actually really happy with them!

The colors are artichoke, daffodil, strawberry and pool.  Head on over to 'Tis the Season HERE to check out all the different cards using these colors.  Make sure you play along too.  We'd love to see what you create!

Just a couple more pics at different angles.  :)
