By the Tide Birthday

Since I have a couple of stamp a stacks coming up next week I figured I'd better get busy planning my cards!  Of course I love to use sketch and color challenges for them, and that's never been more true than this week!  Since I need a couple of masculine cards I thought the colors over at the Colour Q challenge and the sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday would be perfect to use with my By the Tide set.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Hello My Friend

Today's card is a clean and simple one-layer card for this week's Paper Players challenge, and let me tell you a one-layer card is definitely a challenge for me!  I had no idea what to do so I pulled out a set that I haven't played with for a while...My Friend.  It turned out better than I thought it would, and I was happy when I only had to color everything in one time! :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

RHSSC - Too Kind

I have a quick and simple card for today's Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge.  After I decided I wanted to use the set Too Kind I picked a color combo that I haven't used in a while...Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive.  I also made the banner horizontal instead of vertical because it covered up too much of my flowers and looked funny that way. ;)   Don't forget to check out the other great cards made by the Red Hot Stampers HERE.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Clean and Simple Floral Fusion

Today's card is going to be a quick post since I decided at the LAST minute to enter a couple of sketch challenges and one is closing soon! lol  I chose the Paper Craft Crew for my sketch and the Paper Players for my colors.  I wanted to keep it pretty clean and simple when I saw what the colors were and knew I could do it with this sketch.  However I know my daughter is going to tell me it's too white when I show it to her the next time she visits. ;)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

RHSSC - Serene Silhouettes

It's Sunday so for those of you who follow me regularly you know I'm going to show you my take on this week's Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge.  Not sure what I think of this card, but the rest of my family seems to like it. :)  It was hard to get a decent picture of it though since it has shimmer.  Yup, I found another way to add shimmer without it costing too much.  I mix the vanilla shimmer smooch spritz with rubbing alcohol just like I did with the champagne mist shimmer paint.  It doesn't go as far as the shimmer paint since you don't get as much in the bottle as the shimmer paint, but it goes a lot farther than the small spritzer of smooch spritz.  Plus when I mix it with the alcohol and put it in a different spritzer it doesn't blob on the card like the smooch spritz does.  Yup, I'm happy since I can make things shimmery again without using a retired product. :)  Don't forget to head over to the Red Hot Stampers blog HERE to check out what the other ladies made using this week's sketch.

Stamp Sets:  Serene Silhouettes & Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock:  Very Vanilla
Classic Stampin' Pads:  Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay,
Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, Garden Green & Island Indigo
Versa Mark
Stampin' Emboss Powder:  Clear

Sponges

To make the background I started with very vanilla card stock and sponged about one inch circles all over it with the colors I have listed (except Night of Navy).  I made sure they were nice and dark and filled in everywhere.  Let the card stock sit for a few minutes, then rub it all over with the embossing buddy (the background piece needs to be dry so your embossing powder only sticks where you stamp).  Then I used the VersaMark pad to stamp my design all over it (from Everything Eleanor).  Use clear embossing powder over the VersaMark and heat it making sure it is melted and shiny.  The last step is to sponge over the whole piece with Night of Navy, then wipe down with a kleenex or rag to get the color off your embossed design.  This color is dark enough that it covers all the colors you sponged on earlier except where you put your clear embossing powder.  I did spritz it with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz mixed with rubbing alcohol, but that is optional.

Sponged Field Flowers x 2

Today I have a couple of cards to show you, or should I say one card made with two different colors.  Does that even make sense? lol  Anyway, I started with this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday's sketch challenge to make a sympathy card.  Since I also love the colors on this month's Stampin' Celebration challenge I figured I could combine them.  However when I was done with my card I thought it was just too dark for a sympathy card.  Don't get me wrong I LOVE the colors, just wasn't sure if they were right for that kind of card.  So I made it into a thank you card instead, and it's going to a fellow demo.  Hope she likes it. ;)  Since I still needed a sympathy card I figured I could just change up the colors to lighten it up...so that's what I did.  You can see that one at the bottom of this post. :)  Not sure which one I like better...
