Watermelon Wonder Watercolor Wings

Today's card is doing double duty for me.  It was inspired by this week's Try Stampin' or not on Tuesday's sketch challenge #228 and I made it for my niece's birthday. :)

I used the set Watercolor Wings and stamped the butterfly image on wet watercolor paper, then cut it out using the Butterfly Thinlits Die.  I did the same thing with Basic Black, then pieced them back together.  I now have the outside of the water colored butterfly left to use on another card some other time. :)

I also used the new embossing folder Fluttering to give the back of my card just a little more something to it.  I used the photopolymer set Endless Birthday Wishes to finish it off.

Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' or not on Tuesday to check out the other fun cards using this great and simple sketch.  We'd love to see what you create!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Birdie Birthday

Today's card is for my sister-in-law's birthday and I'd better get it to her quickly since it's only in a couple of days!  I really liked the sketch over at Sketch and Stamp #112 this week so that's where the inspiration comes for this card.  That and I can't resist doing a little water coloring when I get the chance. :)

Happy Wonderful Christmas

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far.  I know I am, but it's flying by way too fast!!  At least I've had time to make a few cards here and there, and this week I have some Christmas cards from 'Tis the Season's Christmas card challenge blog.  We have a great sketch for you this week...

I made all of my cards pretty clean and simple this time around since the berries on the wreath, the bow and some of the words are embossed.  That adds a little shine to each of the cards and the wreaths are popped up with dimensionals too.  On the first card I made I stamped the sentiment all in Garden Green and you can't see the word Christmas very well, so I reinked it with Versa Mark and embossed it in white.  Definitely much better!

Make sure you check out 'Tis the Season HERE to see all the other fun Christmas cards made with this sketch and play along too if you get the chance.  We's love to see what you create!

For the Two of You

I have another card for you today using Try Stampin' or not on Tuesday's sketch challenge.  I needed a clean and simple bridal shower card and figured these colorful butterflies would do the trick...at least I hope they will!

Here is the sketch and a couple more pics of my CAS card.  Make sure you stop by Try Stampin's blog HERE to check out the other great cards made using this sketch and to play along too.  We'd love to see what you create. :)

Calla Lily Birthday

I made a quick card last week for my stamping friend's birthday, but waited to post it until tonight since I didn't want her to see it on my blog or any of my galleries before she got it. ;)  Hugs and Happy Birthday, Friend!  You know who you are. :)

I used the new Stampin' Up! set Remarkable You for her card.  I stamped the calla lilies with VersaMark, embossed them in white and cut them out.  I sponged the color on them using So Saffron, Pink Pirouette and Wild Wasabi.  I used watercolor paper for the background and did a watercolor wash using So Saffron and Pink Pirouette also.  When it was dry I ran it through my Big Shot using the Stylish Stripes embossing folder.  I sponged around the edges of the "Happy Birthday" and the edges of the card stock with the flowers on it once again using So Saffron and Pink Pirouette.  I popped up the lilies and Happy Birthday with dimensionals and finished the card off with a few Pearls.

I can't forget to add that this card was inspired by Sketch and Stamp #111 HERE and this is the sketch I worked with.  Have I ever mentioned I love sketch challenges? ;)

The Wilderness Awaits - Red Fox

I have a masculine card for you today using another stamp from the Stampin' Up! set The Wilderness Awaits.  I made this card for my hubby's birthday this time.  First my daughter's birthday, now my husband's. :)  I really like the fox, but didn't want to just plop him on the card so I had to create the woods and mountains around and behind him. :)

I'm not so sure about the fact that he's so big in the pic, but I'm just imagining him sitting on another mountain top with the view behind him.  I have to admit I almost forgot to make my hubby a card so I had to whip this one together pretty quickly and didn't have time to play around with the scenery at all.  Sorry, Dear!

First I stamped the fox and added more grass from other various stamps I had. Then I added in the tress.  After that I tore a piece of scrap paper and sponged the shape of the mountains in (all of this done with StazOn Black).  After that I grabbed my ink pads and aqua painter and filled everything in.  I painted the sky last and masked the moon, but I don't remember the size since I have a bunch of different sized circles cut out already to grab for cards like this.

Happy 20th Rachel!

Today's card was made special for my "baby".  She turned 20 yesterday and I had to make her something right?!  Since I love the new set from Stampin' Up! called Remarkable You I decided to use the water lily for her card (at least I think it's a water lily!).  I wanted lily pads to go with it too so I ended up making a stamp for that using the carving kit that I bought a while ago from Stampin' Up!  I don't believe it's available anymore, but I have to admit it did the trick!  It took a bit of time to carve the stamp out, but I think it was definitely worth it in the end.   My daughter said I carved a new stamp just for her.  Hmm...I don't know if I did it "just" for her because it's for me too! ;)  Hope you like today's card. :)

Newborn King

Today I have a sparkly card for you!  I was in the mood for lots of shimmer and shine so that's what I did for our next challenge over at 'Tis the Season.  We have a fun color challenge for you and this is what I came up with...

Here are the colors we worked with.  I used Night of Navy, Sahara Sand and Elegant Eggplant.

I have to tell you, it sure is hard to get a good picture when there's a lot of shimmer going on! lol  If you look at this card just right all you see is the shimmer with a little color behind it.  You have to move it around just right to see what's actually stamped.  I used Elegant Eggplant to stamp my scene, inked the whole piece of card stock with VersaMark, poured on heat and stick powder and used my heat gun to melt it.  Then I poured on dazzling diamonds, used my heat gun one more time and it was ready to put on the rest of my card stock.  Make sure you head over to 'Tis the Season to check out all the other great Christmas cards using these colors.  We'd love to have you play along too!

The Wilderness Awaits - Elusive Elk

I have another masculine card for you today inspired by this week's sketch challenge at Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday.  I have to admit I used the sketch rather loosely and didn't do the twist, but the first thing I started out with got wet after I had done all of my sponging and stamping and I was too frustrated to start that over. :(  I decided to just come up with something else and since I never seem to have enough masculine cards I pulled out the new Stampin' Up! set The Wilderness Awaits.

I stamped the elk on watercolor paper using StazOn Black ink.  I extended the rock just a bit more so the mountain top that he is standing on is longer than the actual the stamp and goes to the edge of the card.  Then I colored him in using an aqua painter and Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso inks from Stampin' Up!  I colored the rock under him with Sahara Sand, then Smoky Slate.  The last thing I did was punch out a circle and placed it where I wanted the moon to be, then colored in the sky using Soft Sky ink.

I hope you enjoy today's masculine card.  I love making them as much as all the feminine cards I make. :)  If you get a chance check out all the other great cards HERE made using this week's sketch.  We'd love to have you play along too if you get a chance! :)

The Wilderness Awaits

Today I have a nice Father's Day card for you.  I also made it as a birthday card, but it could be a great masculine card for any occasion too.  It's from the new Stampin' Up! set The Wilderness Awaits.  It was also one of my stamp a stack cards for this month.  It's not difficult to make at all just takes a little time since you do a bit of water coloring.  I always try to make most of the cards pretty simple, but have one card that takes a bit of time. They still keep coming even when some of them are hard, and I'm SO thankful for each of them!

A pic of both cards together.  I made them just a bit different because I didn't have one solid strip for the background and was too lazy to cut one out of a new sheet of paper so I just took two smaller strips that were already cut and used them instead. :)

Just a close up of each of the cards.

Beautiful Blue Butterfly

I just wanted to get a quick post out showing a cute card I made using a bit of the old with a bit of the new. :)

It's one of the cards I'm having the ladies make for this month's stamp a stacks.  It's a very simple one to make so I know they'll like that! :)

Just a bit of a close up for you to see...

Holiday Home Happiness

I've been enjoying some warm weather here in Michigan...finally!  So what am I doing making Christmas cards?  Making them for 'Tis the Season's Christmas card challenge blog of course.  This week we have a fun inspiration challenge for you.  I looked at the sketch waaaay back in April and knew what I was going to do.  Then I started working on it and have to admit I did not think it was going to turn out at all.  I started with the red sleigh, brown reindeer and green trees since I embossed them.  I took one look and thought, "That is U G L Y!". lol  Glad I stuck it out because I had fun making this card and seeing it develop into something even better than I imagined it would! :)

This is the inspiration challenge.  Make sure you head over to 'Tis the Season HERE to check out the rest of the design team's cards because they are so fun!  What will this picture inspire you to make?  We'd love to see it and have you play along!

I had to stick this picture in because it shows a bit of the shimmer I spritzed onto the card after my sponging was done. :)

I hope you had as much fun looking at this card as I did creating it...just a lot less time on your part! lol

Clean and Simple Birthday with 2015-2017 In Colors

Today I have a very clean and simple card for you using this week's sketch from Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday using the new 2015-2017 In colors from Stampin' Up!  I never know if I'm going to like the next set of In Colors when I first see them and that was definitely the case with this group...I was pretty skeptical, but thought I'd better get them out and try them before I judged them too harshly.  Well I ended up really liking them so I can't complain! lol

Here's this week's sketch from Try Stampin' and I love it!  I just really like the sketches we have over there.  They are usually pretty simple, but help me create a lot of cards that I end up loving. :)  Head over to their blog HERE to see all the other great cards by the team's designers and play along with us too.  We'd love to see what you create!

Just a couple more pics to check out...

You're in My Thoughts

Just a quick post for now since I want to join the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop and don't have a lot of time left.  I kept telling myself I had plenty of time when it first started, but the time to play is about done!!  I couldn't resist playing because I've been messing around with water coloring a bit lately, but boy do I have SO much to learn!  Next I get to enjoy looking over hundreds of cards that were entered just to check out everyone's water coloring.  I have a feeling that's going to take a while, but it will be so fun to see what everyone else does!
