Punch Art and Pom Poms Winner...

So I totally didn't post who won my card for Punch Art and Pom Poms yesterday.  The Winner is Kim P.  Congrats, Kim. :)  I was told by a few people that they didn't know how to post on my blog, so I guess if I do something like this again I'll have to write a list of everyone who comments on all of my galleries and go from there.  Maybe I'll get a better turnout that way too! lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Punch Art & Pom Poms

Happy Friday Everyone!  I'm SO glad it's here. :)  Since it's Friday you all know that it's time for a card for the Friday Mashup challenge, and I have a fun card to share with you...at least I hope you think it's fun!  If you do keep on reading to see how you can win it! :) This week our challenge is from Avery...and boy did she challenge us, but WOW did the design team come up with some great cards!  Here is this round's challenge...

Create a project with "Pom Poms".
Create a project with "Punch Art:
or Mash it Up! and create a "Punch Art project with Pom Poms on it".

I have to say I had NO idea what to do for this at first since I was determined to mash things up.  But then I started thinking about palm trees and maybe how I could make the pom poms their leaves, then that made me think about the funky Dr. Seuss trees.  Yes, my mind totally wanders like that!  Does yours? lol  Anyway, after thinking about Dr. Seuss tress I started thinking about Horton Hears a Who.  That's when my older daughter informed me I was thinking of the wrong movie and she told me to look up The Lorax.  Yup, those were the trees I was thinking of!  Now how to create the Lorax???  I asked her to grab me my owl punch and things started flying from there.  She tossed my bitty butterfly punch on the table and said use this (look at his head, mustache and eyebrows...totally made using that punch!).  Then it was time for her to go to bed and that meant me too since her "room" is kind of in my craft room right now. lol  Can you imagine having and idea in your head and not being able to run with it right then and there.  Yup, she totally did that to me, but I survived...whew!

Make sure you head on over to the Friday Mashup blog HERE to see what the other designers made and to play along because we'd love to see what you can create too!

Ok...would you like a chance to win this card?  If so just let me know by posting a comment on my blog  here at the bottom of my post.  Yup, that's all you need to do have a chance at winning this card...post a comment. :)  I'll be using a random number generator on Excel to chose the number for me.  I'll post the winner next Monday the 4th so stay tuned.  If this goes over well maybe I'll have to give it a try again in a month.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Masculine Lovely as a Tree

Have I ever said I love making masculine cards?  I'm sure I have, but I'd like to say it again...I love making masculine cards! :)  Maybe because they're a little less detailed than feminine cards, I don't know.  I guess I like they way most of them turn out.  Either that or I'm not as picky. lol  Today's card is for this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge 178.  I was trying for a relaxing serene night scene with the moon for this card.

Make sure you head over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE to check out the other fab cards made using this sketch and play along too if you get a chance.

I've been trying to take a few more pics at different angles and post them.  I know I enjoy seeing more than one pic of a card or project when I'm browsing blogs, so I thought maybe those of you that check out my blog would think the same thing too. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Strawberry Silhouettes

Happy Tuesday, Everyone.  Well it's going to be a hot one here in Michigan today.  I think we finally have some true summer weather.  I could definitely live without the humidity that's coming along with it though!  Well today's card had a lot of white space on it from Try Stampin' on Tuesday, and when I see sketches like this I just want to fill it up with some type of scenery so that's what I did.

I stamped the flowers from Serene Silhouettes in Strawberry Slush, then stamped them again with VersaMark and embossed them with white embossing powder (I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to help line them up the way I wanted).  After that I brayered with Crisp Cantaloupe on the top and bottom of the card so it was lighter in the center.  Then made a horizon by blocking off the top of the card with piece of scrap paper.  Then I punched out a 1" circle and cut the bottom of it off and put it on my card where I wanted the sun lining the bottom up with the horizon, then brayered with Strawberry Slush.  I know this pic makes it look like everything is pink, but it's really not.  The sun and center of the card actually match the Crisp Cantaloupe card stock, the sun is just a bit darker (I sponged that in to make it darker).  I'm positive my camera just doesn't like me.  Someday I'll get a pic of one of my cards that actually looks like my card. :)

Head on over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE to see all the other cards from the designers.  Lots of great cards and ideas over there.  What will you create using this sketch? :)

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today's card is special since it's for my mom and it's her birthday today.  :)  She loves the color blue so I thought I'd play with some new stuff I got from Stampin' Up!  It was waiting for me when I got home from work...yes!  My card didn't turn out as I had planned, but I think that happens a lot.  I just change what I'm doing and go in another direction.  I can't forget to say that my design is from Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge #186.  I haven't played along with a sketch challenge in quite a while unless I've combined it with one I'm a designer for, so it was relaxing to just come up with a card and not be pushing for a deadline after a loooong day at work.  I have to admit I do work better when there's a deadline though. lol  Crazy, I know.

If you get a chance head over to HSS and check out the designers cards using this sketch and play along.  It's a great one!

So Long Simply Sketched

It's Friday so of course that means another card for the Friday Mashup.  This week we have a great challenge from Heidi...

Create a project using "Stencils".
Create a project with a "Retiring Stamp".
Or Mash it up and create a project with " a Stencil and a Retiring Stamp".

I did my stenciling on the top and bottom of my card using the Simply Scored Boarders Plate, and used a couple of stamps that I have that are retiring...Perfectly Penned and Simply Sketched.  Yup, I'm sad both of these sets are retiring.  Everyone knows that the hostess sets retire though, but I have to admit this was a great set!

Make sure you head on over to the Friday Mashup HERE to see all the other great cards by the Friday Mashup team and to play along too. :)

I can't forget to say where my colors came from...the Color Throwdown challenge.  It's been a while since I've entered a challenge and I loved these colors together so I couldn't resist. :)

Birthday Zoo Review

Happy Friday, Everyone!  Today I have a fun card for you using this week's Friday Mashup challenge hosted by Holly.  This week's mashup challenge is...

Create a project using the Colors "Turquoise, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi & Neutral of your choice".
Create a project for "a Child".
Or mash it up and create a project with the "Above Colors for a Child".

Now I can easily make a card using these colors, but a card for kids?!  Now that was a little harder.  I have to admit I have NO kids' stamp sets!  Yup, I was kind of surprised myself when I started going through my stamps and realized I didn't have any sets that are meant just for kids.  I think I'm going to have to change that now that the new Stampin' Up! catalog is about to be released!  I decided to use the set Zoo Review because I figured that would be the best bet, or at least I had an idea pop in my mind for it.  I'm kind of sad this set is retiring because I waited a while to get it and haven't used it as much as I would like.  Guess I'll just have to hold on to it for a little while yet. :)

I stamped the penguin stamp two times and used the stampin' write marker to add on to the lines behind the penguins so they were connected across the page.  I wanted to make it look like they were standing on snow/ice with the sky and water behind them so I brayered the water and sky using temping turquoise.  For once I accomplished what I wanted on the first try! lol  Make sure you check out what all the other ladies made HERE and play along if you get a chance. :)

Lovely as a Tree Sunset

Hi Everyone.  It's Tuesday, so that means it's time for a card for this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge.  However we are doing things a little bit differently this week.  We're doing a blog hop!  If you're following the order of the blog hop you should have come here from Rose's blog, and when you're done looking at my card I'll leave you with the link to Sarah's blog.  You'll want to keep going through all the blogs to check out the great cards everyone made!  My card has actually been in my mind for a few weeks.  As I was driving home from work one evening I couldn't help but see the sun starting to set behind the trees, and thought it would make for a nice picture on a card.  The only difference is there was still snow on the ground.  Yup I changed it to grass!  I just thought the touch of green would be nicer. :)  This card also goes along with this week's twist:  A Masculine Touch.

This was great sketch to work with and who doesn't need more masculine cards to add to their pile for when you need one. :)  Now make sure you hop on over to Sarah's blog HERE to check out her great card!  Thanks for joining all of us!  Oh, I almost forgot to mention one thing...CherylAnn, the creator of Try Stampin' on Tuesday, will be holding a drawing for anyone who comments on any of the blogs.  I don't know what the drawing is for, but I guess that will have to be a surprise. :)  So go ahead and comment away on any or all of the blogs if you get a chance.   It's always nice to hear that someone likes something you've created. :)  Don't forget to join us by creating your own card using this week's sketch.

Triangles and Hexagons...Oh My!

It's Friday and that means it's time for another Friday Mashup challenge.  As you can see by the title of my post it has to do with triangles and hexagons...

Create a project with "hexagons".
Create a project with "triangles".
or create a project with "hexagons" & "triangles".

I have to say this was a hard one for me.  The only thing I have with hexagons is the embossing folder, and to combine that with triangles?  I tried a few things and did NOT like them at all! lol  So I decided to brayer a scene on a square and cut that square into four triangles and layer it on top of the hexagon embossing folder.  Whew...I made it! lol  I actually love how it turned out. :)  Now you have to check out how crafty the other designers were too, then play along yourself HERE.

Cajun Craze Silhouettes

Yea...it's Friday!  And that means it's time for another Friday Mashup challenge.  Today's challenge is brought to us by Avery and she has a great sketch and mashup to go along with it...

Create a project using the "Sketch".
Create a project with "Spritzing / Splattering".
or Create a project using the "Sketch & Spritzing".

Ever see a picture and get a little inspired to create a card to look a little something like what you've seen?  I have, and I love to look at pictures of sunsets.  I've had a picture with the setting sun, these colors  and a tree waiting for me to try and somehow recreate it.  I finally had the chance with this sketch and got busy with it...then I totally forgot to do some spritzing or spattering!  Duh, that's me lately...go figure since I spritz a ton of my cards.  Too late though because I wasn't taking my card apart after I realized it! lol

Dont' forget to check out what the other designers made HERE.  There are some great cards this week!

Soft Serene Silhouettes

This is another fun sketch I had to work with from the Red Hot Stampers.  Not sure why I went with purples, but that's what popped into my mind when I saw the sketch. :)  I just might use this as one of my stamp a stack cards, but use sponges instead of the brayer for the background.

Walk in the Wild Christmas

Hi everyone...ready for another Christmas card?  I know, it's been a few weeks since Christmas, but here at Tis the Season we're creating Christmas cards all year long!  Today's challenge was a hard one for me!  I just wasn't sure what to make and finally decided the closest thing I had to a deer was a moose.  Now to make that into a Christmas card! lol  I decided to put the moose out by the moonlight and to be safely inside while looking at him through the window.  Not the perfect window, but I wanted to get the "wooden" look since that was a part of the Inspiration Photo Challenge.  It was definitely a good challenge and I love the way my card turned out.  Now I know the hunters in the family will be getting this card for Christmas, although it would make a great masculine birthday card too. :)

Now on to the inspiration photo challenge.  Don't forget to visit us HERE to play along and check out what the other designers created.  Lots of different great ideas. :)

Birthday Pansy

It's time for another Friday Mashup and Holly is bringing us this week's mash up challenge...

Create a project with "Twine."
Create a "Birthday Themed" project.
Or Mash it Up and create a "Birthday Project with some Twine."

I managed to mash it up, but had to cheat a little to get it some twine on there.  I only have Early Espresso baker's twine, so I pulled the brown piece out so I could have just white.  Gotta do what ya need to do sometimes. lol  I also grabbed the birthday stamp from the set Blooming with Kindness to put up in the corner.  I'm working on more pansies and decided to use whisper white card stock and sponge the color on this flower instead of using a solid color.  Not sure what I think of it yet, so I'll be doing some more.  Never can have too many flowers. :)

I can't forget to tell  you that I used the sketch from this week's Freshly Made Sketches #118.

Celebrate Today

Well, I'm excited to say that today is my first official post as a Friday Mashup designer. :)   I've played with them off and on over the past year or so, and what I love about their challenge is there are two things to work with.  You can do either one of them, or mash them up and do both. :)  Today we have a sketch by Cindy and the Theme is "Time".   I thought I'd use the colors from another challenge, but couldn't seem to fit the brown sugar color in anywhere, so I just stayed with the blues instead.  It's also the first day to order out of the new Occasions Catalog!  So much good stuff in it!  You can click on the side of my blog to check it out.

Don't forget to check out what the other designers made HERE.

Happy Watercolor Birthday

Happy New Year!  All I can say is it doesn't feel any different here today than it did yesterday.  It's cold and snowy...and I like it!  Well, I like the snow, but not the cold.  I guess I have to take one with the other though.  Since it is so cold and snowy I thought I would show you a couple of  bright and flowery cards I made that are similar to the sympathy card I showed you last week.  It's a new set out of the Occasions catalog that you can order from starting January 3!  I have to say I bought more than my share of things from the new catalog this time.  Lots of great stuff in it!  Ok, on to the pics of my two cards...

If you're wondering how I made these here's a few instructions...I stamped the image with Black StazOn, colored in the flower using an aqua painter and cut the flowers out.  Then I stamped the cut out image all over with a VersaMark pad, covered it with clear embossing powder and melted it with the heat tool.  If you don't want to deal with fussy cutting do all the same steps, but don't cut it out.  Instead you color in the whole image with a VersaMarker being careful not to go outside the lines.  That's what I did on the card I posted last week that is similar to these cards.  Coloring it takes time, but not nearly as much as cutting the flowers out!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Winter Wonder

Today's card is something I've wanted to make since Christmas Day.  I looked out the front window and the sky in the distance was a dark blue just above the tree line and the farther up you looked the lighter the sky got.  I snapped a few pictures of it, but neither my pics or this card does it justice!  It was so cool to see!  I know a lot of you don't like the cold and snow, but I have to admit I do. :)  My thought is if it's going to be cold it might as well be cold with snow instead of cold with rain and mud.

The design for this week's card is from Try Stampin' on Tuesday, so don't forget to check all of the other ladies cards HERE.  I'll admit I fudged a little on the bottom part of this week's design, but I just didn't think the circles went with the scene I created, so I went with the "skid marks" from Gorgeous Grunge instead. lol  The twist is Sparkle it Up, which I did do, it's just hard to tell.  I spritzed it with smooch spritz that's mixed with rubbing alcohol.  I guess you can see just a bit of it if you look for it.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
