RHSSC8 - Autumn Splendor

It's Sunday and that means it's time for another Red Hot Stamper's sketch challenge! Yesterday as I was driving to the bank I couldn't help but notice how all the fall colors were still putting on a beautiful show.  It gets to be a little less each day, but it was still so amazing to look at.  That's where I got my inspiration for today's card.  That and the fact that I used the embossing and sponging technique on one of the cards that I'll be doing for my next stamp a stack.  Guess I liked it so much I had to make another card with it. ;)  You really can't tell from the pictures, but I sprayed the leaves with shimmer paint...I love how it looks!  Probably not the greatest to add it if you're doing a masculine card though. lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Today's card is one from my last stamp a stack.  I had all my cards ready to go and realized I had told everyone who signed up that two of the five cards would be sympathy cards and I only had one.  I'd say half of the ladies ended up putting "Happy Birthday" on it though. lol

I like to give credit where it's due, but for the life of me I can't figure out where I found the flower and band idea.  Guess that's what happens when I wait so long to post a card. :(

In Wilderness Birthday

Wow, I think making cards for teenage boys is my hardest challenge when it comes to card making!  My  nephew turned 18 last week and this is the card I made for him...after all he's into hunting.  Too bad I didn't have the stamp set Need for Speed right now because he's into racing cars too.  Oh well, there's always next year. :)

Yellow Birthday Rose

Well, last week I said I was going to post another rose card that I made and here it is.  The color for this one was inspired by one of my own rose bushes.  Even though my roses are yellow and pink this one turned out yellow and orange because of the way the ink blended together...but I love the color anyway!  I think I finally figured out how to make a decent box to put these kind of cards in too.  Now if I can just remember everything I need to do the next time I need to make one. lol

RHSSC7 - Serene Snowflake

Today is Red Hot Stamper sketch challenge day and here is my take on this weeks challenge.  Instead of having the oval be the top layer I decided to cut it out of the white and do white embossing on the Marina Mist underneath.  You can't really tell it by the pic though because I put the tied ribbon over it.

Head on over to The Red Hot Stampers blog to check out some other demonstrators take on this challenge.   You can join in the fun too!  Why not give it a try. :)

Fall Leaves

Today's card is one that I was going to use in last month's stamp a stack, but forgot that I needed a sympathy card and not another birthday one...that and the fact that I wasn't sure I wanted to cut out a bunch of maple leaves because I was so far behind getting ready.  One of the things I wanted the ladies to try their hands at was using the blender pens and this was an easy card to give it a try on.  I guess that will have to wait for another class.  Hmm...maybe in November.

Blue Rose Birthday Card

Can you believe it?!  I'm posting something to my blog and it's the middle of the week!  Ok, a day later than the middle of the week. ;)  I've still been busy creating cards, just not taking the time to blog what I've done. If I could just put a pic on I'd be all set, but I like to add at least a few words in with the pictures!  Today's card is one I actually  made almost a month ago to give to one of my coworkers.  I've always wanted to try making a rose, so thought I'd give it a try this time because I'd been giving 3-D type cards to the other ladies I work with.  I have to admit making this one was a little time consuming because it was my first try, but I loved how it turned out!  I'm just hoping the rose didn't fall off the card before she got it home! lol  I did make a second card that I'll post in a day or two...ok, maybe a little later than that.  The second rose went together a lot easier and it's put together better too.  I guess practice does make perfect...or at least starts heading you in that direction. :)  There are a lot of blogs where you can get instructions on how to make a rose, but this is where I found my instructions simistamper.blogspot.com.  The two things I did differently is I didn't use glue...I used sticky strip instead, and I also snipped about an eighth of an inch into each "v" of the flower petal so it didn't rip when I was curling the petals (well I did on my second rose at least!).

RHSSC6

It's time for another Red Hot Challenge at redhotstampers.blogspot.com.  I had no idea what set to start with, so I listened to what other stampers in our group have been saying.  They just grab a stamp set that's sitting out on the table.  Well, the only one sitting out at the time was a new set from the Holiday Mini called The Sounding Joy.  I had to put it together first before I could use it though.  Love putting the clear-mount stamps together because they're so easy!  As you can see, I didn't go for more than three colors like the sketch suggested.  I don't think my mind could have come up with more than three!

RHSSC5

It's time again for another Red Hot Challenge.  Today's card is for our fifth challenge and was a fun one to do!  Head on over to redhotstampers.blogspot.com to see some other cards made for this challenge.  You can join in and enter a card of your own too.  Since I've seen a lot of winter and Christmas cards out on blogs, I figured it was time for me to join in and make one of my own. :)  I have to admit I had a hard time coming up with colors for this one though.  Maybe it's because I feel like I'm using the same color combinations over and over again, and wanted to try something new.  I pulled out Baja Breeze and started adding colors until I came up with a combination I liked.

In Wilderness for RHSSC3

Wow, I think it's been a whole week since my last post.  Between homeschooling and work it seems like my time is gone before I know it! :(  Let's see if this week goes a little better. :)  Anyway, today's card is for the Red Hot Stampers third sketch challenge (RHSSC3).  I really liked the layout and thought it would be great to use for a masculine card.  In fact I will be using it for the next stamp a stack I have coming up this week.  Oh, I can't forget to add that you can play along with the Red Hot Stampers at redhotstampers.blogspot.com.  Head on over there and join in.  I know there will also be prizes going out to two winners!

Mad "because I missed your b-day" Dog

Seems like I'm a little bit into punch art lately, but it's really only the second one I've done in a while.  I needed a card for my nephew whose birthday was a few days ago...and it was late! :(  I know he loves dogs, so I thought I'd put a funny little saying on the card for him that went with the dog.  This is definitely a case, but I'm not sure who to give the credit too because I saw a bunch of them out there...I'm just glad there are so many talented ladies out there making things with punches! :)

Christmas Mouse

Today I want to show you some punch art I did for a swap with The Red Hot Stampers.  While looking around for ideas I saw this cute little mouse here and had to try it.  Wish I could take credit for coming up with this idea, but I'm not that good!  Kim has great instructions on how to make it though.  I did have to change a few things because I didn't have all the punches and used different colored paper too, but I love how he turned out.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

RHSSC1

Today's card is for the first Red Hot Stamper's Sketch Challenge from my upline Glenda.  I love doing sketch challenges, so here is my take on the first one.

I bought this set last month and just put it together today before making up this card.  I think it took me just as long to get it put together as it did to make the card.  That's one thing I love about the challenges...it takes some of the guess work out of what I want to make. :)

In Wilderness ~ Birthday

Today's card is one that I had to quickly whip up for my brother-in-law.  Every year I forget that I should mail his card BEFORE Labor Day, not after.  I made sure I put a reminder on my calendar for next year.  We'll see how that goes. ;)  Anyway, I bought this set a few weeks ago and just put it together last night so I could make this card.  I think I'll have to play with it a little more now that it's put together. :)

Monochromatic & Gate-folded Birthday Card

On my last post I said I was hoping to sneak in a few more cards...well, I managed instead to do one card for three challenges. :)  The Paper Players new challenge for the week is Birthdays...I can always use b-day cards!  I also wanted to do the Monochromatic challenge on Hand Stamped Sentiments because I love doing those type of cards.  I also decided to do the gate-fold over on The Friday Mashup.  I haven't done one of those in a long time...actually I didn't even know it was called the gate-fold.  Guess I can still learn something new every day. :)  I was already working with two of these colors for some punch art, and I love them together so this is what I chose for my monochromatic color theme.  I've actually done quite a few cards with these colors.  They just seem to work so well together.  I just made a card last week with this stamp set too, but it was calling my name again, so it's what I went with.

Yes, I always seem to be putting a close up shot of my card.  Don't know why, I just do! ;)  In this case it helps you see the shimmer paint a little better...

...and, of course, the inside of the card.  Most of the time I like to make sure I have more than just a stamp on the inside.  If you've noticed, I like to use a faded version of what I put on the outside of the card.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Artistic Etchings ~ SQSC 2

Well, I've been busy the last couple of days trying to get things together and ready for school...and it's my last year homeschooling!  So glad to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel!  Of course I had to take some breaks and check out all the sketch challenges I could be working on and finally gave in last night and did one.  I'm hoping to sneak a couple more in today and tomorrow too. :)  I started with Stampin Queens Sketch Challenge.

I wanted to make something vintage.  I keep seeing so many beautiful cards made that way and decided to try my hand at it.

Faith in Nature

If you need to whip out a card quickly, today's card is the one to do.   I quickly made these up at our church's all day craft day a couple of weeks ago.  I wanted to use the new hostess set and my blender pens that I had just bought (and couldn't find anywhere!).  A friend let me borrow hers before I went crazy looking for mine! ;)  Thanks, Anne.

The pears were so easy to fill in using a bit of ink and a blender pen.
I do wish the "Happy Birthday" turned out a little darker, but I think that can easily be fixed.

Autumn Splendor Birthday

I must say it wasn't super sunny this morning when I took the dogs out, but it sure was nice to open the back door and be greeted by a bunch of beautiful morning glories!

After taking a picture of what's right out my back door, I had to go check out the morning glories that grow up my apple tree.  A few years ago I started planting these flowers under my tree to see if they would grow up into it...well they did!  Now every year they self seed so I don't have to buy any plants.  This year I had so many growing I had to pull a lot out like they were a bunch of weeds!  Actually I took some of the larger plants and replanted them by my fence.  That's why I get the beautiful view every morning. :)  Thanks for letting me share a little bit of my garden with you...

Now on to today's card.  For starters, I did get this design from someone else and thought I had her bookmarked so I could acknowledge her.  Sorry, but I can't find it...and I have looked every where! :(  So...continuing on, this was for a stamp a stack from a couple of months ago, but I wanted to wait to post it until it was getting closer to fall...and it's coming faster than I'd like it to!  Anyway, I had fifteen people come to this stamp a stack so I needed two baskets and two cards so we wouldn't be making card all night!  One thing I pointed out with this card is that no two cards are alike, so don't worry if your card doesn't look exactly like mine.  Each card is unique. :)

This is the first one...the sponging is nice and light...

...with words and a couple leaves on the inside.

Now the second card where the sponging is much darker.  I really liked the light one when I made it, but after I made the darker one I think I liked it a little better. ;)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
