Botanical Builder Birthday in Black

The card I posted yesterday used colors from the colorQ challenge, which I love! In yesterday's post I told you I made the card for my daughter only to remember when it was done that she's not a big fan of white cards.  I said I was going to create another one similar to that with a black card base and that's exactly what I did today.

I used the sketch from Stampin' Celebration challenge #123 since it was similar to what I made yesterday and I wanted to play with another challenge. :)

I can't say if I like the black or white card better, but I sure do love the other four colors I used. :)  Ok, I think I like the black just a little better, but don't tell my daughter that or she'll say she was right about those dark colors! ;)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Wondrous Winter Wreath

Yes, I have a Christmas card for you today since it's time for another challenge from 'Tis the Season.  I need to get busy and start creating more cards!  I've just been doing one at a time and that's not going to be enough if I don't get busy! I did do a second of this one, but didn't take a pic yet.  For some reason it takes about 30 minutes before my pics will load onto my computer.  Not sure what's up with that!

So here's the graphics for challenge #35 and it's an inspiration challenge.  I usually like to use some of the pics in the challenge to inspire me, but this time I used just the colors.  Make sure you stop by 'Tis the Season's blog HERE to check out the other great cards made by the designers and play along too.  Christmas will be here before you know it! lol

I couldn't resist using Stampin' Celebration's sketch this time around.  I really like it and though it would be perfect for the wreath that I was using.  Make sure you check out their great cards HERE.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Merry!

Today's card is a fun one that I made for 'Tis the Season's 30th Christmas card challenge.  As you can see this week we have a color challenge for you.  I really liked working with these colors, that's for sure!  Make sure you head over to 'Tis the Season's blog HERE to see what the other designers made...pretty nice cards!  Oh, and don't forget to play along.  Christmas will be here before you know it!

I can't forget to say where I got my design for this card...it's from Stampin' Celebration.  I don't get to play with other challenges very often and this is one I used to play with pretty regularly.  They have a great sketch so I couldn't resist using it this time. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Baby Fox & Friends

Today's card is for a baby shower at our church.  I don't have any baby stamps sets except Fox & Friends, so that's why I keep it around even though it's retired.  I've made quite a few cute baby cards with it. :)  I used this month's color and sketch challenge from Stampin' Celebration to help me out with this card even though I did fudge on some of the colors just a bit! :)

Just a couple more pics of the card. :)

Yellow & Green Fabulous Florets

Since I'm having another stamp a stack that my cousin is hosting I thought I'd better get busy planning some cards and that means it's time to look at some sketch challenges. :)  I really loved the Fabulous Florets that I sponged in my previous post and decided to use those same flowers in the same way, but put them into the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch.  I also wanted to sponge a color combo on the flowers that I haven't done before.  That's when I saw both the Stampin' Celebration and Paper Players challenges.  Stampin' Celebration is all about greens and yellows and the Paper Players lets us play tic-tac-toe.  Of course I chose the green and yellow, then went with the spring and pearls.  After all this work I'm not so sure I'll be doing this as a stamp one of the stamp a stack cards, but I sure enjoyed making it! lol

Thank You - RHSSC

It's Sunday, so that means it's time for another Red Hot Stampers sketch challenge.  I did make my card a little bit different from the sketch.  I wanted all of the ink colors to show on the strip so I moved the oval up and put the sentiment on the bottom.  Keep reading to see the other challenges that inspired this card...

The theme for the Stampin Celebration Blog this month is rich warm colors and I put those into my card.  And those colors came from the Friday Mashup challenge...Indian Summer and a mix of five colors.  One of those colors is Cajun Craze and when I grabbed the ink pad I found out that it's the first time I've used it!  The ink pad was still wrapped in the plastic.  It seemed to blend in well with today's challenges though. :)

For You ~ Bridal Shower Card

Well, I must say, today's card is definitely not the norm for me!  The design and the 3-D flower both are, but not the colors!  Where did I happen to find this combination?  From Stampin' Celebration...who just happened to move their blog.  Yup, I was wondering where they had disappeared to, so I had to check out their next challenge which happened to be gray, yellow and white with just a touch of green.  Lucky for me I just bought a shower gift for someone and needed gray on a card to go with the wrapping paper that this particular store offers.  I must say I really like how this card turned out.  Glad I gave it a try. :)

A Rainbow of Daisies

Here's another sample of sponging that I demo'd the other night.  I saw Stampin' Celebration sketch challenge #54 full of rainbows here and thought that would be another perfect way to demo sponging.  All of the card stock used here is Whisper White.  Any color has been done with sponging. :)  Can you tell I love sponging...and do it all the time! lol

Inspired By Nature Challenge

There's nothing like needing five cards by the end of the week for a stamp a stack and only having one card ready at the beginning of the week!  Thank goodness for all the challenges out there.  I needed some help with design and color to start getting my creative juices flowing...so I looked at a few challenges and used Stamping 411 challenge #204 for my design and Stampin' Celebration Challenge #52 for my colors.

I kinda like the close up too so I had to throw in this picture! :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stamp Set:  Inspired by Nature
Card Stock:  Rose Red, Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight & Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pads:  Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight & Wild Wasabi
Embossing Folders:  Square Lattice & Perfect Polka Dots
Punches:  Definitely Decorative & Word Window
Ribbon:  1/4" Grosgrain in Whisper White
Jewels:  Basic Pearls
I find it's pretty hard to get the ink on this stamp set without getting everywhere it doesn't belong.  I used sponges to get color on the stamp for the flowers and it was much easier this way than using the ink pad directly.

Easter Basket

Today I decided to try something a little different for two of my challenges. Instead of a card I made a cute little Easter basket. Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #63 is an Easter theme this week.  Stampin Celebration Challenge # 48 is also an Easter theme, but I did this challenge for the colors too.  I was hoping to get it posted earlier, but a basket without candy just didn't quite look right!  Well, my hubby has the day off, and as I am writing this he is out picking up the candy for me while braving the snow.  Ok, so it's not a lot, but still, snow on April 18!  I know Michigan can have some weird weather, but this is just crazy!

And here is a lovely picture of the snow outside today...  That's actually our neighbor's barn, but it showed the snow the best.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
And remember the real reason for Easter...
The death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Card Stock:  Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Perfect Plum, So Saffron,
Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist & Bashful Blue
Classic Stampin' Pads:  Pretty in Pink, Perfect Plum, So Saffron,
Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist & Bashful Blue
Big Shot Bigz Die:  Fancy Favor
Big Shot Embossing Folders:  Vintage Wallpaper, Square Lattice,
Elegant Bouquet & Perfect Polka Dots
Punches:  1 3/4" x 7/8" Oval & 1 3/8" x 5/8" Oval

If you click on the picture it should make it bigger so you can see more detail.

Here is a template of the basket I made along with everything used to make it. Just in case you can't read it, you measure 1 1/4" down for the basket.  To make the handle I cut another piece of  paper about 3/4" x 12" and put it on the edge of the Fancy Favor Die where the scallops are, then flipped it over ~ making sure the scallops match ~ and ran it through again.  To make the grass I cut the card stock 2" x 7" so it fits around the front and sides of the basket.  I folded it off center so the back would be longer than the front, ran it through the crimper, sliced it with the scissors, then separated it a little bit so I could chop it at odd angles to make it a little jagged.  I used Sticky Strip on the front and sides (at the very bottom) to attach the grass.  To make the eggs I used the punches listed above and ran them through the embossing folders listed.  For a little extra detail I sponged around all the eggs and the top of the basket and the handle.  To attach the handle just punch a small hole on each side and use a brad of some sort.  I put buttons over my brads because they didn't match, but you can use whatever you have available.  Just slide the eggs in wherever you think they look good and then attach (I used glue dots).

Spring Daisy

Today's card is one I made for a couple different challenges. The first one is Stampin Celebration Challenge #46.  I love the colors for this week's challenge, but I must admit I had a hard time getting it from my mind to paper this time.  Oh no!  I think I'm having stamper's block or something! ;)  At least I managed to come up with something I was satisfied with.  I also used Saturday's Sketch Challenge 197 from Stamping 411 for my design.

Stampin' Celebration!

Hello everyone... Well, I am very excited today!  I was chosen by Stampin' Celebration to be their guest designer for this week for a previous project that I made, and this is the card I came up with.  You should head over to their blog and check them out! Thanks to the crew at Stampin' Celebration for the honor and thanks to my friend Christi for letting me borrow a slew of her stamping stuff so I could come up with this card!!

Petal Cone Die Box

Today's post is another thing I've been thinking about for a few weeks.  At our last Red Hot Stampers meeting our upline, Glenda, had all of us cut out two of the Petal Cone Dies using any color we wanted, and you guessed it....she asked us  to make something out of it.  For some odd reason I chose Always Artichoke ~ don't ask me why~ and now I needed to figure out what to do with it.  Well, that's where these challenges come to the rescue!  I saw challenge 56 from Hand Stamped Sentiments.  It was all about dies, and that's what I was doing.  So I decided to do a box and put some kind of flower on top...

...but what color  should I use for my flower?  That's where my next challenge, #41 from Stampin' Celebration helped out.  I love the colors they put out there for us to use.  This challenge has shadowing on the table cloth that makes it appear green and the flowers were just the color I needed to go with Always Artichoke.

Thanks to all the ladies out there who put a lot of time and effort into these challenges for us!

I finally came up with this lovely box.  Not sure what kind of flower I would call it, but I think it looks similar to some pictures I've seen of some dahlias, so I'll go with that. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Card Stock:  Always Artichoke, Rich Razzleberry & Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pads:  Rich Razzleberry & So Saffron
Big Shot Dies:  Petal Cone & Daisies Flower #2
Punches:  Boho Blossoms & 1/2" Circle
Ribbon:  5/8" Grosgrain in Rich Razzleberry
Jewels:  Basic Pearls

I sponged the daisies with Rich Razzleberry and So Saffron then attached the three layers of the large daisy to each other and curled each layer to my liking.  I repeated the same step with two layers of the medium daisies and one layer of the small daisy. I attached it to the box with velcro, so it's relatively easy on and off.

Spring Daisies

Can you tell I'm thinking spring lately with the cards I've been making?  Seems like all my cards have flowers of some sort or another lately. :)  Today I made a card for two different challenges.

Stamping411 Challenge 191 gave me the sketch to work with and Stampin' Celebration Challenge #40 gave me the colors.

I'll admit I had a hard time trying to get the right balance with the colors at first, but I really like how the card turned out. :)
Thanks for looking and have a great day!
