Field Flowers

It's Sunday so that means it's time for another Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge.  I hope you enjoy this week's card.  To see a few other cards with this sketch visit the Red Hot blog here.

Friday while I was checking out the blogs I follow I came across a new blog.  It's called Color Me Beautiful and it's a color challenge blog.  Well, I liked the idea of that blog!  I was looking through past posts and came across one from a few weeks ago and decided to use their colors for this week's challenge.  The one color that's hard to see on my card is More Mustard, but it's there.  I colored the center of both flowers with it. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Happy Birthday

Just a quick post for today...I made today's card for a coworker and I love how it turned out!  I think it's so soft and pretty.   Plus I found an easier way to make my carnations.  Well, an easier way to get the paper to separate without it tearing so it's thin enough to shape and mold.

Just a few close ups.  I always like to see cards up close.

Happy Birthday!

Today's card is for my wonderful upline, Glenda!  It was her birthday yesterday, so I wanted to make her a special card. :)  My inspiration for her card is from a few different places.  I first saw this flower on the cover of the Stampin' Up! Stampin' Success demonstrator magazine and loved it! The card design is from the Paper Players sketch challenge...so glad these are out here because it's nice to have a design so I don't have to come up with one.  The flower is from my garden.  Late in August I finally got some beautiful flowers from one of my dahlia plants that I thought was going to die earlier in the summer.  When it finally bloomed I took some pictures in hopes of recreating one of them. Definitely not the same as the real flower, but I love how it turned out!  Just wish the picture turned out better. :(

Thank You Carnation

Today's card is a thank you for a couple that has been very kind and generous.  One of the things I received was a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and I wanted to copy one of the flowers from it.  Well, one was a carnation and that's my favorite flower...and I've made a few of them lately!  Since I've been trying to enter sketch challenges I used the Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge for my card's design.

Thank You - RHSSC

It's Sunday, so that means it's time for another Red Hot Stampers sketch challenge.  I did make my card a little bit different from the sketch.  I wanted all of the ink colors to show on the strip so I moved the oval up and put the sentiment on the bottom.  Keep reading to see the other challenges that inspired this card...

The theme for the Stampin Celebration Blog this month is rich warm colors and I put those into my card.  And those colors came from the Friday Mashup challenge...Indian Summer and a mix of five colors.  One of those colors is Cajun Craze and when I grabbed the ink pad I found out that it's the first time I've used it!  The ink pad was still wrapped in the plastic.  It seemed to blend in well with today's challenges though. :)

Vintage Elements of Style

Today I was going to post the card I made for my niece's wedding last night and realized (once I was at the wedding, of course) that I never took any pictures!  So back to a card we made at my September stamp a stack.  I got the idea for my card from kellichan over on Splitcoast.  I love the vintage look and her colors, but I didn't have any ribbon in perfect plum, so I opted for some more fall like colors since that was kind of my theme for this  month's stamp a stack.

Flower Garden

Well, this card started out as one of my stamp a stack cards, but it didn't last long!  I was really looking to make something with fall colors, but still using flowers.  I decided to give this technique a try when I saw it over on the  Hand Stamped Sentiments technique challenge.  It's a pretty neat technique, but definitely not for a stamp a stack.  Hmm...maybe I need to start a techniques class too. :)

Serene Silhouettes in the Fall

To those of you who come to my stamp a stacks, I did say I was going to post the cards we were making.  Well, I think I'm running a little behind! lol  Anyway, I wanted to make a fall card, and of course I always have one masculine card in the set of five.  Well, I think this is going to be the guy card.  It could probably go either way because of the coral color, but I still think it's more for a guy...who likes a little "pink"! lol

Everything Eleanor

Today's card is another triple layer card for my September stamp a stack.  The ladies really liked the last one they made, and said they wouldn't mind making another one.  I changed this one up just a little bit by shifting the paper up so I could put my sentiment at the bottom.  Some of them might do it this way and others might do it the original way. :)

RHSSC53 - One Year Anniversary!

Welcome to another Red Hot Stampers sketch challenge.  Well, this week is a special one because it's our One Year Anniversary!  We want to celebrate it by doing something special, and to show our appreciation to those of you who check out our blogs we are giving away blog candy!  If you leave a comment on the Red Hot Stampers blog your name will be entered into the drawing.  If you leave a comment and a link to your take on our sketch you will be entered into the drawing two times. :)  So that means you need to go check out the Red Hot's blog here for a chance to win.  Now onto today's cards.  Yes, I did two.  I made my first card because I was thinking waves and water when I saw the sketch.  However I felt it was just way too dark.  Yes, the card is much darker than the picture of it.  It's actually kind of cool, but it made me think of pirates! lol  So, I had to brighten things up a bit...

...and this is the card I came up with.  Much brighter!  It was a lot easier to make too.  I hope you enjoyed both of my cards.  Don't forget to check out the Red Hot's for a chance to win blog candy.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

How to get the wave on the card...

I took a scrap piece of paper and cut a wave in it about 2/3's of the way down to use as my template.  I then placed the two pieces of paper about 3/4" apart like this and attached to my card stock with dotto...

The part you want to sponge is the Very Vanilla portion.  I used one color on my first sample and three different colors on my second sample.  Hope this makes sense to anyone who wants to give it a try! :)

Lovely as a Tree

Last night I was going through all the sketch challenge blogs that I follow to get a little inspiration and was able to come up with this card.  I LOVE the colors together!  These colors were inspired by the Less is More challenge #83.  Hmm...now that I think about it I'm not sure if it is as clean and simple as it should be because of all the sponging I did. :(  Guess I should have done a little masking.  I also used the Paper Players challenge because their theme is using leaves or trees.  I've had my Lovely as a Tree set sitting out wanting to do another card with it, but waiting for just the right idea...and this was it! :)

Eagle - In Wilderness

You know, this whole blog thing sure is a pain for me sometimes!  I have no idea what to write today.  Must mean my life is pretty dull and boring! lol  Nope, it's really not, but I'm just having trouble trying to figure out what to say.  Anyway, today's card is for my brother-in-law who enjoys hunting, so I needed to come up with something that would be a little more down his alley than a sailboat.  Yup, that means I'm using a retired set.  I'd say it's time for some more masculine sets!  I hope the next catalog from Stampin' Up! has a few great ones...that they don't retire when the catalog is done!

Love and Laughter

Today's card was a snap to make. I needed a quick gift card for a bridal shower at church and since I finally bought the Love and Laughter stamp set I quickly put it to use.  Just a 3x3 card layered with a slightly smaller piece embossed with two stamps then spritzed with shimmer paint and attached with dimensionals.

RHSSC 52

Welcome to Sunday!  That means it's time for another Red Hot Stamper's sketch challenge.  I definitely took a little creative freedom on this week's sketch!  First I turned it on it's side and changed some of the shapes.  I just didn't have room for a rectangle because the stamp wasn't big enough and I layered a few times.  I loved how it turned out though.  Hope you do too. :)  To see a few other cards with this sketch check out the Red  Hot Stampers blog here.

Just a closer view
