Notes of Nature ~ A Stampin' Up! Card

Today's card has mixed media and is inspired by Try a Sketch on Tuesday Challenge #674 and the Double Trouble Challenge # 195.
I started by masking off my watercolor paper around the edges, then getting my watercolor paper nice and wet. Next I dropped in Balmy Blue, Azure Afternoon, Blueberry Bushel and Night of Navy ink. Once I was happy with how the colors were mixed on the paper I set it aside to dry.
After the paper was dry (and before removing the masking tape) I randomly started stamping images in Basic Gray from a retired Stampin' Up! set called Notes of Nature. Then I spritzed the whole thing with Wink of Stella that is mixed with 70% rubbing alcohol to make the whole piece shimmer. Once that was dry I added more images from the same stamp set except I embossed them in silver. The last thing I did was use some silver watercolor paint from a set I have to add some spatter to finish the look. The shimmer is from the Double Trouble challenge - Thing 3: Twisted Sister's optional twist is to use shine, shimmer or metallics, such as foil, splatter, metallic ink or heat embossed metallic embossing powder.
I never thought I would enjoy mixed media, but I really enjoyed making this card. One reason is you can cover up mistakes and just add something over anything you don't like. Make sure you check out what all of the other designers created HERE and if you get a chance to play along we'd love to see what you create!
Thanks for looking and have a great day!
