Today I'm playing with Freshly Made Sketches for the first time. I've been following them for a couple of weeks and thought it was time I played along. I finally bought the Flower Shop stamp set after having the punch for quite a while. It kind of reminds me of the flower I use so much from the Fabulous Florets set except I don't have to cut these flowers out! This card went together pretty fast! :)

ReplyDeleteTo make this card I stamped six flowers (Flower Shop from SU!) with VersaMark, then embossed it with white embossing powder. I used the pansy punch to punch them all out. Then I sponged them all with Island Indigo. It's hard to explain how I sponged it because I saw the ladies at my last stamp a stack sponge it a lot of different ways. A lot of them just sponged over the flower before they punched it out, then sponged around the edges after to cover up the white edges. They all looked different, and very nice. :) Some were light, some medium and some very dark. I sponge around the edges, then squeezed the sponge so I have one small spot and rub that in the middle of the flower. Then I lay it flat on the table and sponge each petal starting in the middle then pulling it out toward the edge so it gets lighter as it gets to the end of the petal. Does that make sense? I hope so! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

And the smooch spritz? When was that used?

DeleteI used the smooch spritz after I punched and sponged the flowers. It's hard to see it in the picture, but if you look at bottom flowers you can see a hint of it on the one on the very right. I actually mix the smooch spritz with rubbing alcohol like lot of us used to with the shimmer paint. It makes it last a lot longer and it doesn't spray in globs either. :)

DeleteI use a sponge that's from Stampin' Up! I take their yellow sponges and cut them like a pie into six pieces. It's kind of in a triangular shape when I use it. However I did try it with the one dauber that I have and it seems to work just fine. The coloration is a little different because I haven't used them much, but practice makes perfect. It all depends on the look you like too. :) One great thing about the dauber is it kept my fingers clean. lol Hope this info helps. :)
