Peaceful Cabin ~ A Stampin' Up! Card

Since Christmas is right around the corner I thought I'd create a Christmas card for today's challenge at Try a Sketch on Tuesday.
For once I had a little time to create, so I decided to made a night scene using a retired stamp set that I think retired WAY too soon from Stampin' Up!
To create this scene I stamped the cabin in Memento Tuxedo Black then placed a mask over it. After that I stamped a few trees randomly behind the cabin using the same black as well. I placed a circle mask where I wanted the moon, then using blending brushes I added three different colors...Blueberry Bushel, Gorgeous Grape and Night of Navy. I kept adding color until I was happy with what I had including shading on the roof and a little color on the moon so it wasn't too bright. I used a white gel pen to add highlights to the trees, chimney, roof and snow, as well as adding a little water to craft white ink refill and used a toothbrush to splatter it on so it looks like it's snowing. I also mixed rubbing alcohol with a few drops of wink of stella in a spritzer and sprayed it on for some added shimmer. Once that was dry I embossed the sentiment in white.
This is the sketch we worked with this week. Make sure you check out what all of the other designers created using this sketch HERE. If you get a chance to play along we'd love to see what you create!
Thanks for looking and have a great day!
