Happy Halloween! ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Just a very short post for you late in the day!  I said I was only going to do one Halloween Card, but I did manage to get a second one done.  I wanted to give the brayer from Fun Stampers Journey a try.  I don't think it turned out too bad.  Of course with all the dark colors I'm not sure how I could mess it up! lol

All of the background colors except the hills at the bottom were put on with the brayer.  I sponged the hills so the house didn't look like it was floating around. lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

World Map Birthday ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I took a bit of a break from creating cards and blogging most of last week because I was busy spending a lot of time with family.  We lost a special man, my father-in-law, unexpectedly.  Right now I can't begin to describe the loss the family feels. :'(  He will be greatly missed by us!  During this loss there was a special day for someone else though and creating this card brought some joy back in the midst of sadness.  My dad celebrated his 70th birthday so I couldn't miss making a card for him!

Since I don't have a lot of stamps yet from Fun Stampers Journey I decided to use a background stamp to create this card and give it some dimension.  It's kind of like a triple layer card except the layers are scattered here and there...if that makes any sense!  I like to use that technique every now and then.

I used the Beach Towel embossing folder for the background, then layered the stamp by cutting squares out and piecing them together on top of each other.   I cut the top two that are flush with the card the first time I stamped the image.  For the bottom two squares that are popped up, I inked the area of the stamp that I knew I wanted and cut them out.  I layered each of the squares on top of a piece of Dark Roast card stock that I cut 1/8" bigger than what the squares measured.

I have no idea why this third pic that I took has such a different color from the other two pictures I took.  Must be the lighting!  All I know is it was good to get back to something I love for just a little while. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stay Wild Scenic Stamp Off ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Pan Pastels...that's what today's post is about again.  I've used them to color flowers and leaves and the background of yesterday's Halloween card.  Other than that they are new to me.  The two cards I have to show you today were spur of the moment, no time to plan, cards (and I just do NOT work that way! lol).
The story is my upline asked me to head on over to her house while she did her live event the other night.  First she showed a bunch of new products that she bought and the AMAZE machine (great time to sign up to get the AMAZE machine and other great products for only $99.99...like my little extra tid-bit? lol).  Anyway she showed off some of the product that came out in the new Trends Mini Catalog and then it was time to get creative.  She let me pick the Pan Pastel colors and then we got busy trying to create a scenic background.  I have to say for neither of us playing with them much I thought they turned out pretty well! :)  She says she likes mine better, but I like them both the same!  We had a great time and she asked me to join her again sometime.

This is my card that I got my oily fingers on...err!  I have to watch that!  Very quick and easy to make though!  Now that I really look at it, it's a rainbow of colors.

...and this is Glenda's card.  So fun!  I love the colors around the sun and how they fade into the dark purple sky.  If you want to watch the video of us creating these cards check it out HERE.  We're at the tail end of the video.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Halloweenie ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

Ok...I couldn't resist!
I have two wiener dogs that are so much fun (and a LOT of work!), and I have to tell you when I first started going through the Fun Stampers Journey catalog the Halloweenie stamp set caught my eye right away.  I wonder why?! lol

Boy was this card a PAIN to take pictures of!  I wanted to capture what it looks like through MY eyes, but do you think that works with all the shimmer on it?  Of course not! lol  Just imagine a shimmer that's not too crazy and dark, rich colors.  That's how the card really looks.  I hope you enjoy my one (and probably only one) Halloween card. :)

Here's a pic from five years ago of Buster and Slinky. :)  They look so innocent and sweet...I had to bribe them with treats to get them to sit like this! lol

I used my pan pastels to color everything on this card.  I started the background on Butter Cream card stock.  I mixed a little bit of the red with the orange using the Party Pop Pan Pastels.  Then underneath that I added the yellow from the Rich Sorbets set.  I just rubbed the color back and forth to blend it until I had the color combo I wanted.  Next I used the two purples from the Rich Sorbets set.  I started with the violet, then added the magenta.  At the very bottom I added some black.  Then I blended them together like I did the lighter colors to get the look I wanted.  After that I spritzed the whole thing with Shimmer Gold Color Splash and the bottom half with Shimmer Silver Color Splash and let the silver into just the bottom part of the sky.  Once it was dry I added the big moon (I sponged around the very edges of it with some of the orange/yellow color still left on the sofft sponge).  Then I colored both of my dogs in.  Slinky is darker and Buster has a lot of dapple so he's black and gray.  Yes, I fussy cut them instead of using my die (and boy was it a pain with them colored already! lol).  I think if I fussy cut again I'll color them in AFTER I've cut the out!  I put Slinky flush onto my card, then added Buster and popped him up.  After I got them both on I added their shadows underneath them with some more black.  And of course I had to add "Happy Halloweenie" onto the sky.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Snow Globe ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I don't have a lot of Christmas stamps right now, but this one comes from Fun Stampers Journey and was a Bloom Benefit out of their Journey Holiday Mini Catalog that ended in September.  Since we're all about holidays right now over at Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday I thought the globe would be perfect to use with their sketch. :)

Here is this week's sketch.  Make sure you check out all the other great cards made using it HERE.  We'd love to see what you create if you get a chance to play along!  We're also doing some fun things for the month so make sure you check out what's going on.

You can see lots of shimmer on this picture of the card!

Not quite as much shimmer on this one, but every picture turned out differently.  To create the sparkling/snowing globe I colored it in with Journey Color Splash watercolor pencils, then used a little bit of glue over the globe and covered it with Journey Sparkle Dust.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Yes, I'm excited to be a part of Fun Stampers Journey and would love to share it with you!  If you ever have any questions about it let me know!

NOW...onto the cards I've created for today's post! :)

Yesterday I posted a card using the same stamp as on today's card.  I colored yesterday's card using the Journey Splash Water Colors Pencils.  Today's cards are colored using Pan Pastels.  Wow, do I love these!!  They are so easy to use, you can mix and match your colors and get it into some pretty detailed areas.  I'm sure there's more great things I can do with them...I just haven't learned or discovered them yet!

I used the Rich Sorbet Pan Pastels for both of my cards.
Not sure if you can see it, but I spritzed the flower with Shimmer Gold Color Splash.

On this "red" card I colored in the flower using yellow first, then going back over it with magenta (bright pink).  When I put the yellow on I started at the tip of the petal and worked my way toward the center of the flower, but didn't go all the way in because I wanted a bit of a lighter area.  Then when I added the pink I didn't go in as far as I did with the yellow because you know it...I wanted some of the yellow to still show.

I originally wanted the flower to be pink, but mixing with the yellow just didn't leave it that way.  I really like how it turned out, so I'm not complaining at all!

Finally one of my pictures shows the shimmer on my cards! lol  I used both the silver and gold color splash on this one, but the silver is the one that stands out and that's what I wanted.

I only used one color on the petals for this card.  However I did use the turquoise blue from the Party Pop Pan Pastels to go around the flower and stems.  The touch of blue added just a little "more" to the card if you know what I mean.

Which card is your favorite?  I'd love for you to let me know...plus it tells me someone is reading my posts! LOL

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Lovely Day ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I love this stamp called Lovely Day.  It's not too big or too small and fits perfectly on a card front.  When I made this card I hadn't been doing a lot of watercolor at all and missed it so I pulled out this stamp and tried to make the color of the flower similar to Rich Coral just not as dark.  I love the color Rich Coral...it's perfect for a poppy and when I get the stamp set Wonderful Day I'm sure I'll be using it again even though we're knee deep into fall right now.

I stamped the flowers using Black Licorice, made sure it was dry then got busy coloring the petals in.  I really don't remember what pencils I used.  I just pulled them out, rubbed the color off from the tips using a blender brush with water in it onto one of my blocks and did it with a few different colored pencils until I got the color I liked.  Not sure if you can tell in the pic, but I colored all around the flowers in a pale blue too just to add a little dimension.

The card seemed a little plain so I spritzed it with a bit of Shimmmer Gold Color Splash.  I got it a little darker than planned, but that's the way it goes with color splashes sometimes. lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Autumn Birthday ~ A Fun Stampers Journey Card

I love fall because of all the beautiful colors that I get to see on the trees.  That means I also love making fall cards especially ones with leaves from the Fun Stampers Journey stamp set Autumn Days!  I made today's card special for anyone who placed and order with me in September.  I wrote a thank you, tucked it in the card and mailed it out so they have a card to send someone when they need it. :)  I'll be sending out cards again the beginning of November for anyone who orders from me in October.

I made the leaves using Pan Pastels, Pumpkin Bread Ink and Shimmer Gold Color Splash.  I have a picture tutorial below on how I made these cards.

You never know how your leaves are going to turn out using Pan Pastels!

I love the variation of colors on each of the leaves.

I could NOT get the Shimmer Gold Splash to show when I turned the cards to the left!

Ok I'm finally getting to the picture tutorial here.  When I started using Pan Pastels I was afraid my leaves weren't going to turn out that great (you'll see what I mean when you see the first few pics below), but with just a few steps I had some leaves that I thought were very pretty and full of shimmer...which we know they really don't have, but I had to add anyway! :)

I started with a couple of pieces of Butter Cream card stock and randomly rubbed Pan Pastels all over the card stock.  On the top sheet I put it on with circular strokes and the bottom one I put it on with straight strokes.  I used Dairylide Yellow, Burnt Sienne and Magenta Extra Dark from the Rich Sorbet set and Permanent Red Shade, Red Iron Oxide Ex. Dark, Hansa Yellow Ex. Dark (looks olive green to me!) and Perm. Green Ex. Dark from the Mother Nature set.

Doesn't look that great does it. :(  The colors are actually darker, but the flash from my camera made them appear a lot lighter than they are.

Next I stamped my leaves using True Color Fusion Ink Pumpkin Bread.

Yup, still looks kind of blah, doesn't it?!  It will get better!

This is where the magic starts to happen!  I spritzed them both with Shimmer Gold Journey Splash and bam! they looked great! I also used the splash like the silks because I don't have them yet.  I wanted gold "dots" or "splats" here and there on my leaves. I know...I need to improve a lot on my photography skills because these pics surely don't look that great, but they did in person! lol

I did fill in the first sheet with a few more leaves like the second one so I didn't waste any paper.

Here's a few more pics of the leaves up close after I cut some of them out and hopefully they look better!  For some reason pictures don't look as nice when I put them on my blog versus when they're in Picasa.  Oh well, I still like how my cards turned out! :)

I almost forgot the final touches.  I cut a piece of Oatmeal Cookie card stock at 3-3/4" x 4-7/8" and a piece of Pumpkin Bread card stock at just under 3-7/8" x 5".  To get the square and paper piercing I used the Journey Squares Die Templates.  I used the biggest square that has the paper piercing holes in it and the second biggest square to cut out the square opening.  So basically I centered the paper-piercing square on my Oatmeal Cookie card stock at the top (since I wanted about an extra inch or so at the bottom), then put the square die inside the paper-piercing one and cut them together.  Then I attached the Oatmeal Cookie card stock to the Pumpkin Bread card stock.  Now that they are together I can cut out the square in the Pumpkin Bread piece simply by lining up the square die over the opening since it will line up. :)  Wrap some Journey Natural Thread around the bottom like pictured and tie it together with a bow.  Attach all of this to a Butter Cream card base with Journey Foam squares and attach leaves with glue dots.  For the birthday tag I just cut a couple of thin pieces of card stock in Butter Cream and Pumpkin Bread and stamped Happy Birthday with Oatmeal Cookie.  I snipped the ends with my Details Pro Shears and attached it with more Journey Foam Squares.  Ok, I think that's it...whew!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
