Black & White Open Sea

Today's card is one I made early last week to send off to my cousin for his birthday.  It's made using the Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge, but I made it after it closed.  My colors are from the ColourQ challenge.  I needed to use basic black, white and one spot of color.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Fabulous Florets Birthday

Welcome to Sunday and another Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge.  I've been saying that, or at least something like that for the past two years on my blog every Sunday.  Unfortunately it is going to be my last time saying it.  It has been decided that we are going to stop our weekly Red Hot Stampers sketch challenge blog.  However I do have one last card to show you.  Don't forget to check out what my fellow Red Hot Stampers have made HERE one last time too. :)

Today's card is one I made up for a friend using this week's Paper Players' sketch challenge.  I think I went all out in blues this time, but I still like it. :)  I'm hoping she gets it in the mail before she sees it here or in any of my other galleries! lol

HHS Clematis

Before I talk about today's card I have a little news for you about a new blog challenge that I'm going to be a part of. :)  It's called 'Tis the Season and it's a bi-weekly Christmas card challenge that will be starting up on October 3.  I love the idea of it since I make about 90-100 Christmas cards to give out each year.  In August I figure out what I want to make, purchase my supplies, then work on them at craft nights once a month at our church.  I don't mind doing this, but they are always the same card, and no matter how much time I think I'm giving myself I always end up cramming to get them done before I need to send them out.  I figure if I design one card every other week, then make three more of that same card by this time next year I'll have enough cards for Christmas and no more cramming!  Not sure if I'll keep up with the extra three or not, but I'm going to give it a try! :)  If you'd like see what 'Tis the Season is about click HERE.  Then start joining us in a week to see what we've created and show us your creations too!

Now on to today's special card that  I made for my wonderful upline's birthday.  I'm so glad she convinced me to join Stampin' Up!  It's been nothing but a blessing for me! :)  Earlier this week I was thinking about what I wanted put on her card while I was walking around my yard checking my flowers out.  That's when I happened to see one lone clematis in the whole bushy mess still blooming.  It's been a few years since I've made one of those flowers for a card so I decided it was time to make one again.  I used this week's Hand Stamped Sentiment's sketch challenge for my card's layout.  The embossing from the embossing folder I used didn't show up very well, but if you look really closely you can see that I embossed under the purple strip.  :).

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Lovely as a Tree Anniversary

Today's card is the first card I made for Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  I love using blues when I'm doing a winter scene and trying to do just the right shading on the hills.  However I wanted to make another card because I forgot to check the theme.  I could have left it, but wanted to do both the sketch and the theme. :)

I did just a little bit on the inside too.  Sometimes I just like to add pics on the inside so I don't have to write so much (plus it just looks nice).  It's not that I don't like writing notes.  I just don't always know what to say or feel like I'm always writing the same thing in every card. lol

TSOT Autumn in the Air

Today is Try Stampin' on Tuesday's sketch challenge.  I whipped up a card and was happy with it until I realized I forgot to check out the theme!  My card was suited more for winter than for autumn in the air!  So I went back to the drawing board.  I just could NOT come up with something that had those dots!  Well I made them stars on my first card, so I decided to do the same with my second card.  I've been seeing a lot of orange, black and purple cards out there for Halloween too so I decided to go with that color theme for my card and sponge the colors on, then add the stars in the night sky using a gel pen.  As you can see I also rotated this card.  My other one is vertical and I'll have to show it to you some other time this week. :)

Don't forget to check out what the design team made using this sketch at Try Stampin' On Tuesday HERE.  If you're game give it a try and show us what you've made too. :)

Pink Birthday Wallet

Just another quick post for you today...a wallet.  A pink wallet at that!  My daughter is a nanny for a couple of kids and she requested that I make a birthday wallet for the girl that she watches.  So being the wonderful mom that I am ;) I made if for her.

I even made a fake credit card, driver's license and library card.  This time I didn't have to put the money in it though! lol

Birthday Poppies

It's Sunday so that means it's time for another Red Hot Stampers sketch challenge card!  I must say I feel carded out lately and went with something pretty simple.  I used the aqua painter brush and colored in my flowers.  That was the only part that took a little bit of time.  Don't forget to check out what the other Red Hot Stampers made using this same sketch.  Check them out HERE. :)

Dress Up

Another quick post today of one of my September stamp a stack cards.  I've had the Dress Up framelit for a while now and decided it was about time I used it.  I usually see the dress cut out with some sort of DSP which I don't have!  Gasp!  I know, I just never buy it.  So instead I went with classic black and white and used the stamp set Creative Elements for the design on the dress.

Express Yourself Birthday

This is another one of my September stamp a stack cards. Yes, I used a retired set again, but it's my all time favorite fall set.  I sponged all of the color onto the stamps instead of putting the stamp directly on the ink pad.  It blends the colors together well and doesn't make it quite as dark.

Perfect Pansies for Summer's Last Hoorah!

Summer's last hoorah!  That's today's Try Stampin' on Tuesday's theme that goes along with their sketch challenge.  One of the things I think of when I'm thinking about summer is all the flowers that I get to enjoy.  My pansies tend to last quite a while after the other flowers have frozen and died because they do like cooler temperatures.  That's why I picked them to put on my card.  Earlier this month I posted a card that had pansies made the same way as I made these.  I love the new pansy punch, but wanted my flowers to have a little dimension like the real flowers do so I cut the petals out and did some sponging to come up with these flowers.

I thought I'd do a little extra on the inside this time too. :)  Don't forget to see what the other designers made over at Try Stampin' on Tuesday HERE.

Gorgeous Grunge Christmas

It's Sunday so that means it's time for another Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge card.  I went a little different than normal using Christmas ornaments with the gorgeous grunge streaks underneath.  I guess it's a pretty clean and simple card for this week's challenge. :)  Don't forget to check out what the other Red Hot Stampers made over at the Red Hot Stampers' blog HERE.

Soft Snowflakes

Today is very exciting for me...I've joined the Try Stampin' on Tuesday team, and I'm happy to share my first card with you as a designer!  I've seen a lot of Christmas cards out there already and thought I'd pull out one of my favorite sets from last year and use it ~ Snowflake Soiree.  Since I had a window sheets packet sitting around unopened I decided to give them a try too.  I ended up embossing white snowflakes on a small piece of window sheet layered on the front over pool party card stock. Then I also stamped and embossed a few more on the front part of the card where it's just clear and the "love you" under the ribbon.  The Circles are attached to the pool party card stock underneath the window sheets.  I found out how quickly and easily we can hide where we attach our layers and ribbons, etc. when using regular card stock.  I had to be a little creative in a few spots with this card!

Just a couple more pics so you can see the card at different angles and not just straight on. :)

Pop on over to the Try Stampin' on Tuesday blog HERE and play along if you get a chance. :)

Regal Rose

It seems like I'm in a flower making mood the past couple of days.  Maybe it's because I know before long they'll be gone, and I want to enjoy the last little bit of my flowers outdoors while I can.  And that just puts me in the mood to make them...who knows. lol  Since I wanted to make a rose I thought the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge was the perfect sketch to put it on.  I also used the ColourQ Challenge for my card's colors.  They were definitely a challenge for me and I wanted to see what I could come up with using them.

RHSSC - Everything Eleanor

It's Sunday so that means it's time for another Red Hot Stampers' sketch challenge.  I had an idea going through my mind for this sketch after being inspired at our Red Hot meeting on Thursday.  One of the ladies showed a bunch of crafts she's been working on and some of them had paper flowers on them.  It's been a while since I've made some paper flowers, so I thought it would be a good time to give another one a try. :)

Sponged Wetlands

Ever wonder why you say you'll do something then ask yourself later "Why did I do that?!  That's me with today's card! lol  Yup, I told my upline that I'd do a demo at our monthly meeting.  Actually I didn't mind it a bit. :)  I love sponging on my cards and knew I would want to do some sort of sponging.  At first I thought I'd do flowers of some sort, but since I didn't want to cut any flowers out and love the Wetlands stamp set I went with that.  I used this week's Color Throwdown challenge for my colors.  I took one look at them and liked what I saw. :)   I did have to change a couple of colors since I didn't have them, but got as close as I could.  Well, after I finished my sample card I thought maybe we should all give it a try at the meeting!  Sure, why not?!  I emailed my upline and she said sure.  I must say they did a great job on their cards!  They all looked different (just like my samples below), but that's what making cards is all about. :)  Wish I had brought my camera to take pics of all of them.

This was the first card I made...

This was a second sample so we weren't all trying to look at one card...

And this is the one I made as we were working together...

Elegant Thank You

Today's card was inspired by The Friday Mashup challenge, and boy was it a challenge for me!  Here is what their challenge consists of:

1.  Create a project with using "A-B-C (use elements on your projects starting with the letters A, B, C). "
2.  Create a project using a "1-2-3 card recipe (1 embellishment, 2 Stamp Sets, 3 Colors) ."
3.  Or Mash it Up and create a project "A-B-C & a 1,2,3 card recipe. "

I mashed it up and here are the A-B-C's and 1-2-3's of my card:

A.  Aqua Painter
B.  Blooming with Kindness
C.  Candy Dots

1.  One Flower
2.  Two colors (Elegant Eggplant & Always Artichoke)
3.  Three layers on my card.

For so many things to work with I think it turned out pretty clean and simple.  However I'm finding out using the aqua marker is anything but simple!  I love how cards turn out when I use it, so it's definitely worth it. :)
