Elements of Style for May Stamp a Stack

I'm finally back to blogging again after getting ready for my May stamp a stack.  I'll be showing you the rest of the cards we made over the next few days. I wanted to use some card stock I don't use very often and use something "new" on the cards.  Baja Breeze was the color that I don't use very often, and the something "new" was using Stampin' Pastels.  Not sure what the ladies thought of the chalk, but from what I did see they did very well with it!  I'm also entering this in SUO Challenge 19 ~ May Flowers.  I love flowers, but I'm afraid the April showers have brought May showers instead of flowers here in Michigan.  My flowers are sitting around waiting to be planted...maybe this weekend. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Inspired By Nature Challenge

There's nothing like needing five cards by the end of the week for a stamp a stack and only having one card ready at the beginning of the week!  Thank goodness for all the challenges out there.  I needed some help with design and color to start getting my creative juices flowing...so I looked at a few challenges and used Stamping 411 challenge #204 for my design and Stampin' Celebration Challenge #52 for my colors.

I kinda like the close up too so I had to throw in this picture! :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stamp Set:  Inspired by Nature
Card Stock:  Rose Red, Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight & Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pads:  Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight & Wild Wasabi
Embossing Folders:  Square Lattice & Perfect Polka Dots
Punches:  Definitely Decorative & Word Window
Ribbon:  1/4" Grosgrain in Whisper White
Jewels:  Basic Pearls
I find it's pretty hard to get the ink on this stamp set without getting everywhere it doesn't belong.  I used sponges to get color on the stamp for the flowers and it was much easier this way than using the ink pad directly.

Graduation Cards

It's that time of year..graduation.  And that means open houses.  My upline Glenda has a tutorial that I saw a few weeks ago on how to make tassels, and that got an idea going in my head.  These are a couple of the cards I came up with.  I didn't have envelopes for this size of a card, so I just made a band to slide over the card instead.  I don't have any graduation stamps, so I used the RGB code for Night of Navy and put their name and class on the outside of each card.  You'll have to click on the picture if you want to see the embossing lines I have on the cards.

On the inside I put a short note and verse...and of course a pocket to slide some cash or a check into.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Card Stock:  Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight & Whisper White
The closed card measures approx. 3" x 6 1/4".
The cap is three layers of card stock 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" with a brad put through the middle.

Gerbera Thank You

Every Christmas my husband gets a bunch of gifts from people on his mail route, and I always make Christmas thank yous for those that give gifts.  I'm sorry to say I haven't been giving out a thank you to one family on his route because we always get our gift in the spring...a gift certificate. They own some greenhouses and that's where we buy all of our flowers for our yard.  I was determined to not forget them this year!  I wanted to make a thank you with a gerbera daisy on it.  So when I saw Stamping 411 challenge 203 I thought it would be the perfect design to put my flower on!

I used a tutorial from Noel Johnson that I remembered seeing earlier.  Thanks for the inspiration Noel!

The Open Sea ~ Father's Day Card #2

On my last post I said I was getting an idea going when I was looking at a couple of challenges.  I was checking out The Friday Mashup challenge Monochromatic Man and Mojo Monday Challenge 191.  I decided to combine the two challenges and came up with this card.  I really like how it turned out and will be using it as my Father's Day card for a Stamp a Stack I'm doing this month.

This is my first time using my new stamp set...and I've had it for a week already.  What is wrong with me?!  I'm working on a Father's Day card for my May Stamp a Stack.  We'll see if I come up with something that I like more or not.  Hmm...just looked at a couple of challenges and have another idea going through my head.  Let's see if I can get it going tonight and ready for tomorrow's post...

Between Blogger not working for a few days and trying to get some work done in my yard before the rain came I've managed to be quite the slacker when it comes to posting. :(  And the card that I'm starting with is a lot different than the norm.  I needed a b-day card for my nephew and wasn't sure what to make him at all.  I know he likes riding his dirt bike and came up with this...  I love the colors.  Not sure a 10 or 11 year old boy will, but it's what he got!

3-D Birthday Card and Gift Box Set

Today's project is similar to one I made a couple of weeks ago, just with different colors.  When I made my first box for a 3-D card I had sitting around, a couple of ladies asked for instructions...so I made this So Saffron box.  I couldn't let it go to waste, now could I?!  That's when I decided to make a band and card to go with the box for a friend at work.  It just happens to go along with this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge too. :)

I know...I put a lot of pictures on.  I guess I like it when I can see a lot of different angles when I'm looking at cards or projects and I'm hoping anyone else looking does too. :)  To see the instructions for this box click HERE and go to the bottom of the page.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

White on White

Today's card is something I've always wanted to try and didn't think I could do it.  Well, at Less Is More their challenge is White on White...and it's possible!  Check out the cards that so many ladies have posted already.  They are absolutely beautiful!  As I had all these ideas running through my head, I was pulling all sorts of things out for my Big Shot.  Then I remembered Mojo Monday's challenge and decided to use their design for my card...it helped me focus.  I really like how it turned out!

Here are a few close-ups of different areas on the card.

Because I Care - Stamping 411 Challenge

Today I am finally getting back to entering cards into challenges!  This card is for Stamping 411  Challenge 202 using one of my favorites sets ~ Because I Care.  I was able to make this on Saturday while I was at an all day craft day!  I didn't get as much done as I had hoped because I had to leave a couple of times to help out with other things, but we sure had a blast together!

A close up of the hydrangea using heat and stick powder.

I couldn't resist taking a close up of the butterflies...

Left Overs Part 4

Today's card is another left over that I finally got around to making!  It was a quick one to come up with because once the base of the card was put together all I had to do was stamp the flower, pour on heat and stick powder, heat it, pour on Dazzling Diamonds and heat again.  Then I sprayed the flower with shimmer paint and sponged the edges with ink.  I did the same with the Happy Birthday oval, added the rhinestones and I was done!

A little closer view of the flower...

Fabulous Florets ~ Thank You

Today's card is my first one using the new set Fabulous Florets from the Summer Mini!

Here's a close up to show some of the shimmer using Heat and Stick powder with Dazzling Diamonds.

My daughter likes the diamonds  by the "Thank You".

Most of the time I like to put a little something on the inside of the card.  I can't just have the outside looking nice. :)

Coast to Coast

Today's birthday card is made from one of my favorite masculine stamp sets Coast to Coast.  I know...it's retired, but my family doesn't know and wouldn't care anyway.  They just let me know they appreciate the b-day cards that I send their way.  This one is for my brother-in-law Scott.  So Happy Birthday, Scott!

Thank You

Today's "Thank You" card is one of the cards I had the ladies make at my stamp a stack.  Last week I posted one similar to this and actually got the idea for the black and white thank you from this card.  Ok, so it's actually two cards...I just couldn't decide on which colors to use for the stamp a stack.  By popular vote (of everyone in my house at the time) Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi and Perfect Plum won.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stamp Sets:  Elements of Style & Thank You Kindly
Card Stock:  Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pads:  Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi & Perfect Plum,
Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie & Real Red
Jewels:  Basic Pearls

To get the Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist or the Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie colors just make a template that's 5x5 and cut out a square or rectangle wherever you want the color on the card.  Ink up your sponge and tap it where you cut out your square until you get the color as dark as you want it.  Do the same with the second color and blend as needed in the middle.  Pull the template off and stamp the vine over the two colors you just sponged.
