Petal Cone Die Box

Today's post is another thing I've been thinking about for a few weeks.  At our last Red Hot Stampers meeting our upline, Glenda, had all of us cut out two of the Petal Cone Dies using any color we wanted, and you guessed it....she asked us  to make something out of it.  For some odd reason I chose Always Artichoke ~ don't ask me why~ and now I needed to figure out what to do with it.  Well, that's where these challenges come to the rescue!  I saw challenge 56 from Hand Stamped Sentiments.  It was all about dies, and that's what I was doing.  So I decided to do a box and put some kind of flower on top...

...but what color  should I use for my flower?  That's where my next challenge, #41 from Stampin' Celebration helped out.  I love the colors they put out there for us to use.  This challenge has shadowing on the table cloth that makes it appear green and the flowers were just the color I needed to go with Always Artichoke.

Thanks to all the ladies out there who put a lot of time and effort into these challenges for us!

I finally came up with this lovely box.  Not sure what kind of flower I would call it, but I think it looks similar to some pictures I've seen of some dahlias, so I'll go with that. :)

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Card Stock:  Always Artichoke, Rich Razzleberry & Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pads:  Rich Razzleberry & So Saffron
Big Shot Dies:  Petal Cone & Daisies Flower #2
Punches:  Boho Blossoms & 1/2" Circle
Ribbon:  5/8" Grosgrain in Rich Razzleberry
Jewels:  Basic Pearls

I sponged the daisies with Rich Razzleberry and So Saffron then attached the three layers of the large daisy to each other and curled each layer to my liking.  I repeated the same step with two layers of the medium daisies and one layer of the small daisy. I attached it to the box with velcro, so it's relatively easy on and off.

Happy Wedding Day

Today's card is one that I've been thinking about for a couple of weeks.  I've always loved the white cards with just a touch of color on them, and I thought it would be a great idea to use for a wedding card for my nephew and his bride to be.  As I was looking around at different sketch challenges I found one that I thought would go great with what's been going through my mind...The Paper Players Challenge # 35.  Thank you, ladies, for your idea and your challenges.  This is the first one I am doing with the Paper Players. :)

I wanted the color I used to coordinate with their wedding colors, however I knew we did not have the color of ink I needed.  I ended up sponging Pacific Point around all the edges and then going over it with Wild Wasabi.  It was too green when I did that, so I carefully sponged back over it again with Pacific Point until the color matched the invitation.  Yes! I got it to match perfectly!

I got the idea for scoring the flower petals from this video here.  I'm not sure what her name its, but she makes beautiful flowers!  Thank you for the idea!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Baby Buggy

Today I have a 3x3 card for a baby shower that's coming up soon.  What color do you make the card when you don't know if it's a boy or girl?  A mixture like this.  The green and yellow just didn't seem to be working out, so I put just a touch of each color in with a lot of white!

Card Stock:  Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery and Whisper White
Classic Stampin' Pads:  Certainly Celery & Bashful Blue
Big Shot Embossing Folder:  Perfect Polka Dots
Punches:  Scallop Trim Border & 1/2" Circle
All other circles were cut with a circle cutter and the handle cut by hand

Lovely as a Tree

Well, I'm a little slow getting this card out today, but that's life sometimes.  I'm just glad things have been cancelled around here because of the snow and ice, giving me a chance to have a day of stamping all to myself...well, at least half of a day. :)  Today I'm doing a masculine card for the Mojo Monday challenge.  I can't say it's as pretty as what I normally make, but I'm getting a little low on guy cards and need to build up my supply.  I think I need to start building up a supply of new masculine stamp sets too!

Thanks for looking!

Blossom Petals

Today's card is a challenge from my upline, Glenda.  She challenged us to pick a card or scrapbook page from the Idea Book & Catalog or the Mini Catalog and copy it using a different stamp set, ink colors etc.  I picked a card on page 155 from the Idea Book & Catalog and this is what I came up with.

Thanks for looking and have a blessed Sunday.
